What can I say? It's a true masterpiece and I doubt it needs any introduction. Everything about this game is incredibly polished and improves all aspects of the previous two games. However, I do recommend that you watch at least the playthrough of the first Metroid game on NES first if you don't know that one. Since it takes place on the same planet, you will notice many similarities and little details that connect these two games. Metroid II for Game Boy is available on my channel as well and the other Metroid games are in the works. :)
If you would like to see a game played through, just let me know by posting a comment below or by sending me a message. Thanks!

Gorgeous. Really that's one thing I completely love about the Super NES - they upgraded the games in an interesting and instructive way: not with CONCEPT, but with DETAIL. The OG 8 bit Metroid was very cool and innovative for its time, especially since it was one of the only non-kiddie major titles on the NES. It was primitive, but had great game play. So you get all this new capacity to render graphics and what do you do? Well, you DON'T change the original game play. You resist that temptation, recognize instead that what was good then remains good now, and you just ADD to the surrounding world to make the whole thing more immersive. They did it with Legend of Zelda, Mario, and this...with epic results.

I played it in 94 at 14yo and without any help. It was great. But what wasnt great was back then if you wanted help you had to find it in a magazine or "strategy guide". Tbh that shit was pretty weak. Basically it was a 30 dollar magazine with some maps and tips for the game. edit.... just saw that people are selling those original strategy guides on ebay for 160$ now hahahahhhahha

Honestly, when I first played this game, I was scared. The atmosphere really creeped me out, and I had a lot of "what is that?!" moments on my first playthrough. The developers were spot on with atmosphere. I wasn't the best at games when I was a kid, so my first playthrough took me 12 hours as I got a little lost from time to time. My nephew borrowed my copy of this game and never gave it back. It was the ONLY game I LOVED. I came across this video and it helped my grief about not having the game a LITTLE bit, but it also just made me miss it even more. I got to the point when I played it that I was also able to get 100% of the items and beat it in under 3 hours, just like you did in this video.

      @@slickriven Only a couple of problems...lol
First, I only play 3 of those games and I still have the cartridges for the other two games. I DO also still have my console.
Second, despite that first fact, I did still look into them. Tried to price them out and the cheapest I could find it was around $125 and that had a $10 shipping charge. The cheapest on Amazon was $180 and that's just for a renewed one. Walmarts $240 and Ebay has them for $125 to $200. Out of curiosity, where'd you find the $80 pricing?
Thanks anyway though. Despite the fact that'd I'd LOVE to be able to play the game, and even try a few of the others it comes with, I'm disabled on live off disability pay. Buying one would mean going without something I actually need for a couple of months.
However, I really DO appreciate you letting me know about them. It's good to know that there's a way for others who, either never had the chance, or those who just want to revisit their past, to play the games that brought me so much joy as I was growing up. In the 1990's as a kid I only had two games, the game that came with the SNES (Super Mario World) and Super Metroid, both games were so immersive and "long", you have to remember that in the 90's games were very expensive, $60, $60 translates to $124 in today's money, so owning another game other than Super Mario World was huge, back then you rented games from small mom and pop video rental places (or Blockbuster, but Blockbuster was expensive to rent, $5 for 4 days or so, I forget) who would have a dozen games to rent for $1.50 for 24 hours. I would rent all kinds of games, Madden, Phalanx, Top Gear 3000, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat 1-3, as soon as I rented Super Metroid I knew it was special, but I still couldn't afford it, as soon as I had a chance to buy a game I did and it was Super Metroid 👍
