I put them in my instant pot with the water for 2 minutes and let them depressurize naturally. It works great and is much quicker. I put water and dates and process till smooth.
I made this today . I did 2 cups of dates soaked in 2 cups hot water for 2hrs. It worked out great. It is expensive to buy. I will be marking this again. Thankyou
Oh my heavens who would have thought to clean your blade like that! Genius! Love dates! If I have a sweet tooth I pop one of those and it does the trick!
Thank you so much, Chef AJ. I am a sugar addict and this will be helpful in my recovery and transition to a healthy diet. Looking forward to your next book.
Thanks for this! I am stuck in massive carb addiction, and feel horrible. I have your book. My trauma and ptsd made me forget so much, and weakened me. I have been drowning in in pasta for months. I just put my bowl down unfinished. Part of me understands becoming free from processed wheat and sugar will be the key, the other part says I don't care. Half the time I am on fire with vision and ambition, half the time I am languishing. I know it is my diet.
I use coconut water with added Vitamin C, which really helps preserve the dates in the refrigerator for MONTHS (although I usually use them up faster than that). I don't usually process them into paste, though, because I only use dates for smoothies. I just smoosh 'em up. They're a delicious, healthful sweetener.
Do you mean you store them in the coconut water in the fridge? Do they soak up all the coconut water or do you use more water to keep them saturated in liquid?
I'm not trying to lose weight, I just like good food. Although I use sugar and artificial sweeteners when choices are limited, dates are my absolute favorite sweetener!! I bought a Ninja Creami ice cream machine this year, and I have learned to use date paste to sweeten many of my flavors. Dates already have a caramely flavor and go so very well with many other flavors. Including chocolate. They are undetectable while adding their own goodness. I have a daughter who doesn't like dates but loves my chocolate ice cream. I often hydrate dates with concentrated frozen apple juice. It gives them a truly new dimension. They are really wonderful in baked goods.
omg THANK YOU so much..... I am so hooked on the white stuff as well as artificial sweeteners. I am going to try this......Happy New Year....BTW I love your new kitchen

I am very interested in transitioning to this plant based whole food way of eating, however I am diabetic type 2 and wondering how eating all of these starchy vegetables and legumes will effect my Diabetes. I understand you're not a doctor but do you have any testimonials regarding this eating lifestyle and diabetes? All I want is to be healthy and loss about 60 pounds. I have been 60 pounds overweight for 35 years!
Thanks for the video. Aldi's has small container of dates. I have made this and it's good for smoothies. I didn't know I could freeze it. It lasts a long time in the fridge.
@@DeeDee-mo6tn I haven't bought them there yet. They are in the fruit aisle. It looks like a 1lb package. But I'm not sure what kind of dates. I am sure it's better to buy they them at Costco if you have one.

Thank you for another wonderful video AJ!
Chef AJ could this recipe work using figs rather than dates? And much thanks to you & your sister for the blade cleaning trick.
Pati Hopkins yes but it will have a much much stronger taste. Dates are very neutral and mild tasting
Thank you so much, Beautiful!! 💕
What brand of proccesor is that?

What do u think about Brown coconut sugar?
Stacy Craddock not a fan of any processed sweetener
Dates really expensive here. Could I use sultanas or other dried fruit instead please ? Love your channel ❤️
Have you thought of buying dates in bulk online?
Won't taste the same

I thought dates were sold fresh and not dried like raisins.
Paul, I honestly have never seen a fresh date and I am in my 70’s. Do they ever appear in grocery stores? Don’t know
@@ultramiddle4991, usually see them more around Xmas time
I thought dates would be high in calories. Considering how sweet they are.
I think they're a little lower than 2000 calories a pound! A little bit lower than sugar since there is still some water in them
Sugar equals how much date paste?
Oh she just answered my question 😂😂😂.
