It’s likely that it wouldn’t fit the assembly line. They had the same problem with the Darts in the 60’s. Because the body dropped onto the front end assembly, the angle wouldn’t clear a bigger engine. They even put a notch in the valve cover of the slant 6 because the clearance when it lowered on was that tight.
Hey brother what happened to you I know I'm a little bit late here but I just found your video today i would love to been able to see some more but you only have 2 videos
They can't technically do that, because the vehicle was never built in that configuration. It will meet emissions, but doesn't fit in any of their parameters.
Doing the physical engine swap is the easy part. The hard part is the wiring. Chrysler has a bad habit of calling the same part/circuit a different name. I used a minivan to make the swap and I got the pinout schematics for both the Neon PCM and the minivan PCM. There were a lot of confusion on the names of items that were the same. So be aware that you need to really understand electrical wiring to make the swap work. With all that said, the swap is fantastic! The car runs the way it should have from day one. Good power, driveability and fuel economy. My Neon is a joy to drive. I've put about 50,000 miles on the vehicle since the swap.
How did you modify the intake manifold? Don't the earlier vans have the air intake on the driver side and wouldn't they eliminate some of the modifications that you did for your swap.
I really like what you did with this car. Hopefully I can one day put a Chrysler 3.8 on my PT Cruiser
i have a 99 neon and this is very interesting and want to see more ,please.
You did excellent work. Ssomeone did a 3.3 with th 5 speed 2.7 T850 transmission in a 1st gen. I would love to see how that drives in a video

Got any video of it running and driving
I’d love to see an update on this. What about the exhaust on it?

Looks like fun - suprised you can't just say 'use the specs for the Voyager' at the emissions tests.

Would love to do this on my 98....but it is smaller bodied
How much for your neon v6
Yesh im fixing to do this with my pt cruiser. But as far as emissions here if the check engine light is off and you got cats it will pass.

So why wouldnt you wanna do this with a first gen? I have a 96 2 door and a 98 4 door.
No emission checks in east coast of Virginia either. Would like to see more videos. I would definitely convert my car to V6.
