For consideration: it would be lovely to get a video tour of Montana Book Company and how you browse and shop for books there

Hello Gregg, I would love to see you talk about books/characters 'That Stand Out' for various reasons, such as:
    1. A book that has sentimental value.
    2. A book that you can't believe you still haven't read yet!
    3. Your biggest disappointment book?
    4. A book you would love everyone to read.
    5. Your favourite character from a book you would love to invite over to dinner!
    6. The oldest book you have!
    7. Ever thought about buying rare books?
    8. An author you wish was still alive today.
    9. Book covers you have that you absolutely love.
    10. Which book was never made into a film that you thought should be.
Make you own questions up of course, these are examples and I think some of these you have already answered, but something like this could be fun!!!

I loved Demon Copperhead! But it's interesting, I've recommended it to all of my friends and the reaction has been pretty mixed overall. I've always hoped you'd do a comparison of Demon Copperhead to David Copperfield. I'm reading David Copperfield right now and it's surprisingly really good and readable! Also, it's amazing how masterful Barbara Kingsolver is to be able to take everything in David Copperfield and update it in a seamless way. It's cool to see how much of an influence Charles Dickens has had on so many contemporary writers.

I mentioned this in Bob’s review of the book One Last Song as well, that it seems to have much in common with the recent Kier Udo film Swan Song, where even its lead has a very similar styling to Joan and is living in a somewhat hostile older adult community. It too has its humorous moments, but also stark brutal realities as well. It’s a tour de force performance by Kier, and worth watching for that alone.

Thanks for the One Last Song review. It wasn’t available in print but I got it on Audible for $5! I don’t think I would have found this book on my own and I loved it. That little book packs a big punch.

I found it took me a couple of chapters to get into North Woods, but once there I was hooked. Currently I'm reading some of the women's prize non fiction longlist, I only picked a couple that interested me. Waiting for the fiction longlist now.

I'd like a video of you and Joel discussing a book that one of you liked and the other did not.
I'll be starting The Secret Life of Albert Entwhistle this weekend. I ordered One Love from a seller on eBay and I'm looking forward to that.
    Thanks for the recommendations.

Totally off the subject of literature - went to a fundraiser last night with a James Boyd theme, and there was a gentleman in Joel’s Sean Connery sweater😂 Not as dapper as Joel, but a good knock off😉

Sometimes Amazon makes it look like something is available in the US but it’s actually coming from the UK. Not sure if that’s what’s happening here, but it is something they’ve done in the past.

I would like to hear about banned books especially about banned books of the past and now. Who is doing the banning of these books. Second, I know you are not into mystery books but maybe talk about the top mystery books of today and maybe also horror. Also, have discussions about certain writers and which books have won awards and so on. Also some discussion of what books would be considered "cinnamon" books. None of the books have to be ones you have read but what you know about them. What are the classics and why.

Nice seeing you and Teddy this morning. Say Hi to Joel. I am listening to YellowFace on libro. Not sure if it is the narrator or the irritating protagonist June Hayward/Juniper Song that is not totally winning me over. I may try to read the rest of the book as I somehow ended up with both the audio version and the hardback or maybe life events interfering with reading. Look forward to your comments of Northwoods. I need to find an author that has lighthearted content. Not a romance reader so maybe some cozy mysteries like Magpie Murders will do the trick. Take care and hug the ones you love every chance you get.

    • @SupposedlyFun
      @SupposedlyFun  10 місяців тому +1

I thought Yellowface was good and mostly pretty clever, but there were elements of it that I didn’t enjoy-especially the way it kept devolving into a thriller. So it may not be you! Sorry you’re having a hard time right now. Teddy sends hugs!

Hooray for gay!🥳 I’m anxious to hear about your experience with “North Woods.” I’m almost finished “Hello Beautiful” which I discovered through your channel. I’ve certainly enjoyed listening to it but fell asleep multiple times, 😴not because it wasn’t interesting but because I was trying to get through it before the 7-day loan expiry date kicked in from my library. Forcing myself to quickly get through a bigger book quickly isn’t a good idea, apparently.

I should have specified: the point where the book ends is somewhere around 1990. And there are so many developments that happen in his life after that that would feel very relevant to wrap up a lot of the things in this book (his parents close the restaurant around the year 2000, etc).
