Wanted to say thanks for helping my first car channel sub cleetus out. When I'm older and ready for a custom build, I'll be going Texas speed all the way
The wheelie that black one pulled was sick! If the driver didnt derp out and give it full right lock and nearly crash it, would have been one hell of a run! It was definitely going straight enough he could have waited it out and clutched the run. Imagine if that was the Record pass, that would be some good marketing material.
i see a lot of questions about which cams and heads in each gen and no answers. so again please. which cam and heads on the 5th gen and which cam and heads on the 6th gen.
I put TSP stage 3 cam in, had you guys Cnc heads with 1-7/8 long tubes and CAI, with BMR suspension stuff car runs in the 11’s so there must be more to this story
my guess --- weight reduction, PRC 260 cc heads, Holley ECU tuned, High Ram intake, suspension work, exhaust, two-step launch control, performance transmission, rear-end, axles, better driver? and probably other things I am not thinking of right now.
Definitely driver experience man I went from 12s to 10.01 my first year with same setup no additional mods learning to shift at the Perfect rpm with the Perfect launch is not easy every pass takes alot of time
If you think it’s just heads and a cam your wrong. High Ram, TB, TQ, possible drop in pistons, great 3 inch exhaust with 2 inch headers. Drag pac, lowered car, g force axels, one piece driveshaft and probably the most important thing a gutted car with any other weight reduction they can find. Oh perhaps E85 too or race gas, plus a killer tune.
I too think the same.. I saw a Gen3 Coyote stock block do 9.54 @ 144 mph. I was like wat the hell.. When mods were checked it had serious weight reduction.. Drag axles, etc as support. Without this sub 10s NA is super difficult
Texas Speed has virtually anything you need to gain big power from any LS or late LT engined Camaro, from 1998 up to present day 2021 models. -- Most 5th gens are a few hundred pounds heavier than 6th gens with equal options.
@@racer774 Cool..thx..so I guess either one is cool other than the weight difference. Never owned a fast V8...would love to have one. Prices don’t seem to be cheap in Houston.
@@dry509 - You are correct. Depending on your age and driving record, insurance might be quite pricey, regardless of which year 5th or 6th gen most interests you. Houston insurance rates aren't cheap! You might consider a later 4th gen Z/28 (ONLY THE 1998-2002), which has the 5.7L LS1 engine. Perhaps it wouldn't require full coverage insurance. The automatic transmission (or the 6-speed's factory style clutch/pressure plate & shifter) and the rear end (rear differential) are the weakest links with the 4th gen Camaro Z/28. You can find these usually in the range of from $3,500 to more than $20,000 if well prepped for racing. Also, you may consider any '97 or later Corvette or a much less expensive and cheap to insure 1999 or later Chevy or GMC short bed V8 truck, preferably a 5.3L or a 6.0L but even a 4.8L can make decent power on a budget. 4-wheel drive is good if you plan on turbocharging it!
@@racer774 Thanks for the feedback. I am a senior by the way so no worries about the insurance. I was pretty much talking about the price of cars as I look around the used market here.

Need some help getting some parts together heads and cam, but want to be able to drive it daily don't know if this setup is right for me, it is so badass though
So your telling me that's all that's done🤔? Heads cam & long tube headers? That sounds like more than just bolt on's 2 me but i'm willing 2 learn summin new.
I know this may be asking a little much but do you know what all was removed or done for weight reduction in that 5th gen? I have a 2013 SS 1LE I wouldn't mind shedding some weight lol awesome runs guys loved the wheelie 😬
They're not identical. The 6th gen have a refreshed interior and exterior as well as an updated 6.2 lt1 making 455 hp and tq at the crank. Of which they underated a bit. They dyno stock around 410 to the wheels. So about 485 crank
How come the 5 gen LS did a better time than the 6 gen LT1? I THought the 6 gens newer tech would be a step ahead from the LS'S IN THAT CASE I M KEEPING MY LS3 2010 SS M6 LOL
that is what I'm trying to do in my daily driver Camaro I have the stage 4 cam for you guys and its doing me some justice I love it if you want to check my videos out they are on my channel thanks for watching and thanks for the support
Imagine getting being a demon with 840hp on race gas getting gapped by a heads cam camaro 🤣🤣🤣. And then still trying to claim you have a straight line car.
Always does my heart good to see those big ole 5th gens moving like that

what a sound from those NA v8's SCHWING.
I would like to know the exhaust setup
Cant wait to throw an LS in my project car. You guys are gonna be the first call I make!
I called them recently an ordered one pushrod LOL
What cam are you guys running on that 5th gen?
I'm mostly impressed with that 6th gen. Banging gears and running mid 9s with a head/cam package is insane.
How is that more impressive than the older gen boat running faster with only heads cam package?
Konig D 6th gen used to be a manual
The 5th gen is Gms last true muscle car. They can roll just fine with some boltons and some weight reduction.
Well said

How much for the heads on the 5th gen I need a set for my cammed 2010 ss? dreams!!

There's a stage above yours. Probably running 2" long tubes into a 3" exhaust. Plus more experienced driver.
the size camshaft you are using is small have a look at how big the intake duration is on larger camshafts.

what did the ls3 car weigh at the time of this video?
