Aluminum foil tape! I use this when covering the tops of my ball python tanks for humidity, and when their zoo med heating pads start to peel from their tank bottoms. Lasts for a good bit and no burn risak

    A name for your Chilensis:
    Hestia ❤
Quick wiki extract as it's wholesome 😊
"In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Hestia (/ˈhɛstiə, ˈhɛstʃə/; Greek: Ἑστία, meaning "hearth" or "fireside") is the virgin goddess of the hearth and the home."

First of all, I'm *thrilled* to have Bowser give us a little visit. I miss that little guy. If you ever do a non-spider plushie, it has to be Bowser, right? Second, I can personally appreciate the motivation to get H. chilense as I went through that a year back. But people buying slings need to really digest what you said here: they are tiny as slings, and grow very slowly. You really need the long view to enjoy raising those slings. One of mine has already moulted three times and isn't that much larger than when I first got them :). I love them a lot, but the money shot of a mature female chilense (or the disappointment if you really don't want a male) is years off. Go in eyes open.

Name her Roja or Rojita! Chile's main language is spanish and Roja means Red (and Rojita is "little red")
I'm chilean and I think this would be an awesome little name for a sweet little lady 🥺💕

I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your tarantulas and spiders with us all. I’m terrified by all of them but since I’ve been watching your posts my fear has gotten better. This morning there was a spider in my kitchen sink and instead washing it down the drain I was brave and transferred it to one of my houseplants. So thank you again!!

as an art major as well, with limited depth perception, I can tell just from the look before the comparison that the new tank is defiantly much bigger and has more space. The old tank is pretty big already but with growing snakes that like to hide and burrow the bigger they get the more space they need, the original tank was quickly getting smaller, they need a good amount of space with hiding spaces so they can destress when needed.

Hi Kat, Use foil duct tape, that is what we use to attach all our heat pads to underneath the tanks. This is a tape that has a peel away backing then you adhere to your heat pad and tank. Hope that helps.

The tape I use for all my heating pads, for over 30+years, is aluminum flashing tape from home depot/Lowes and just tape all four sides when reattached, plus I use a little high temp silicone throughout the middle spread thin as a light "glue".

Ok I'll share my secret. For the heat attachment.
It's in the same area as tape. And you can use the black gorilla tape. It's the best.
Or I keep tubes of vinayl, fabric and plastic flexible adhesive around. Made by lactate purple and blue tube.
I use it on everything. From fixing holes in my watered to Heming my skirts, to hanging things. It's awesome

HVAC high heat tape

I’m about a mile from south county mall, and you have no idea how many times I’ve wanted to have you come over and take away a spider…no matter how big it may be. I like watching them on UA-cam, but not in my house. I love that you got your snake tattoo colored in for Brian. I’ve watched him for a couple of years, and hate that he’s no longer with us. I’m happy he’s not in pain anymore. Take care, Kat!

For your heating pad I recommend using electrical tape thats what I did with my ball pythons when they were in plastic bins before getting the rack system even there after some of the snakes would be quarantined in the previous bins used. Just serious heads up monitor your heating pad. One of my snakes got injured because something happened to the heating pad while we were gone. It got replaced and there after did daily checks regularly. It also happened in the rack system once in which my ex got replacement heating tape the she reinstalled. Zero problems there after, but was closely monitored. The system we used to control heat was Spyder herpstat so the system used wasn't anything light nor cheap.
I also recommend to replace thos heating pads every 8mo to a year and if you have any doubts throw it out better safe than starting a potential electrical fire.

As to your request for ideas to making heat pads stick again :
You could use a product made by 3M called Two Faced Tape ... Make sure you use the 3M brand cause others are not as good and will just fall apart later in life of it.
It is a thin piece of foam that has adhesive on both sides and there is a protectant that you can peel off and use as you see fit .
Make sure you clean the surface very well with alsohol and let it dry . Make sure you do not get too much foreign debri on the tape or else it will not stick that well .
    Hope this works for you

    Painters tape (the blue-kind)
Make sure to clean the surface with a paper towel and alcohol to remove all grime and oil.
I no longer put heat pads under a tank, it makes it difficult for animals to hide from the heat. It's better to apply it to a wall instead.

One of the reptile channels on UA-cam posted a video setting up an enclosure and they used foil tape for the thermostat temperature probe. The heat mat that I got isn’t sticky so I looked up whether or not it would be safe to use foil tape to stick the heat mat to the tank and everything I found suggested that it’s perfectly safe. The person I got my new hognose snake from said that he puts pieces of acrylic underneath the mat so that the mat sits up higher against the bottom surface of the tank so he doesn’t have to stick it to the glass (hopefully that description made sense). I’m new snake keeper, so feel free to chime in anyone if those aren’t actually safe things to do!
