Fantastic performance as always, such a tight and polished sound. I’d love to know which device is acting as the master clock? I’d like to pull off a similar build up using my digitakt and rc 505 looper, but haven’t yet found a way to get the loops in time without using the digitakt as the master and having some sort of percussion all the way through. Really curious as to how it works starting out with solo guitar then real-time recording the beat on the digitakt (I haven’t used the digitakt this way yet, but would love to give it a go). Love your channel mate, inspiring to see such consistent high quality performances (classy video and audio production too)👏👏
love your content ! been looking for a looper w midi in to use w digitakt as well. do you find the X4 works well for you, saw some reviews that said people's died on them andthey had to replace
Hey man i always love your music and ur workflow is an inspiration to me. I do have a question for you. With your Ditto X4, do you ever have midi sync problems or any problems with the unit itself? I really want to get into looping. Ive read some bad reviews on it but im leaning towards getting it for its simplicity, midi clock sync and affordability.
Hey thanks for the kind word! I do have issues with the Ditto MIDI clock, it just doesn't work for me, I was never able to get a loop that would stay in sync for more than 30 seconds. I use a workaround where the Digitakt controls the length of the loop, it doesn't rely on the clock and works pretty well but it's not a 100% reliable and I would never use this setup in a live situation. I actually just bought a new looper and will probably never use the Ditto again. That said it's still the cheapest looper with MIDI features so yeah, tough call. :/
Aldo thanks for the reply and honesty. Those problems are definitely a deal breaker for me. Im going to keep looking around and save up for something better. The EHX 95000 looks pretty good, or Pigtronix Infinity, but i need to do my homework and see what else is out there. Thanks so much for getting back to me.

Hey thanks! I use a Canon 550D with a cheap vintage lens, the SMC Pentax-M 50mm f/1.4. And no the 0-Coast can't send MIDI at all, it can only receives it. It can send CV tho, so you could use a CV-to-MIDI converter to control a Volca with a patch from the 0-Coast. :)
You are awesome! So cool. I'm enjoying your track from Tokyo Japan. I have a question about Video setting. If you don't mind, could you tell me about Video setting that is which camera do you often use and Music and Video Rec setting.
Thank you for the reply. Oh I see. It's beautiful camera work I think. Your music is also cool, nice and beautiful. I'm looking forward to your new one.
Is anyone else having trouble counting this in 7/4? To me it's 6/8 + 6/8 + 2/8. I realize that adds up to 14 eighth notes which can be 7/4, but I don't hear that quarter note pulse at all. Still a great track. If anything this is more interesting than straight 7/4.
I don't know a lot about odd time signature so you're probably right! 7/4 is only the one I had to enter into my sequencer to get the click to line up. :)
I think you're right in your counting. So more 14/8 than 7/4 because of pulses, but of course they loop back around at the same time. I was also counting 9/4 in the beginning and I think I realized why. 1 2 3 4 5 6 1 2 3 4 5 6 1 2 - here is your 14/8 counting 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 - and 9/4 is close but with dotted eighths (one and a half) representing the quarter notes (although there still is a half eighth missing there, but I'm guessing our brains were auto-correcting.) Everyone hears the first kick as one, but if you hear the next snare as 3, you're not necessarily wrong but just counting in dotteds. The snare should be on the 4th eighth note.
SelfPropelledDestiny I thought 9/4 at first, too. But I know his whole rig depends on the clock from the Digitakt and he would know what time it was set to.
Hey man love what you do! I’ve been watching this channel for a while and it has inspired me to get into looping. What gear would you recommend to get started, without breaking the bank? Thanks!
Hey thanks! If you just want to do guitar-looping you can find some cheap looper pedals, if you want drums and synth and everything, I think the easiest way is to get Ableton along with a MIDI controller.

Sometimes the brite brittle sound of fm just cuts through too much. Been watching since you had very few subscribers. Your playing sounds great.
isn't the volca merely mixed a little high? i'm not sure different equipment is needed to butter that sound up - maybe just a touch of (more) reverb and about -9dB lower or something a bit less specific maybe? perhaps a gentle EQ tweak to soften the top end if it's rasping too much (as mine can)
Hey, no it's taking the guitar signal and route it to 2 different paths I can switch between (like a classic guitar A/B switch, you can look it up). They both go to the inputs of the Ditto, that way I can have multiple loop layers that I can record on 2 different tracks in my DAW, which allows for a more precise mixing.

I think that you could experiment switching out the volca fm with something more organic like the modal skulpt. Nothing against the volca but the skulpt would accent your subtle playing. Sometimes the brite brittle sound of fm just cuts through too much. Been watching since you had very few subscribers. Your playing sounds great.
isn't the volca merely mixed a little high? i'm not sure different equipment is needed to butter that sound up - maybe just a touch of (more) reverb and about -9dB lower or something a bit less specific maybe? perhaps a gentle EQ tweak to soften the top end if it's rasping too much (as mine can)
So uh...when is the next vid?
No pressure :)
I’m really not sure, but I’m working on an EP right now and it’s almost done so I should be back into the video business next month!
This sounds like the neighbourhood (the band)
I didn't get what the zoia is doing ? Is it recording A/B parts from the Ditto?
Hey, no it's taking the guitar signal and route it to 2 different paths I can switch between (like a classic guitar A/B switch, you can look it up). They both go to the inputs of the Ditto, that way I can have multiple loop layers that I can record on 2 different tracks in my DAW, which allows for a more precise mixing.
