Dimitri Illarionov plays J.S.Bach's Chaconne for violin solo, guitar transcription by D. Illarionov. Performed on "Two evenings in November" guitar festival.

Круто что есть Дмитрий Илларионов! Уровень Высочайший! Это один из лучших хронителей гитарного наследия. Преклоняюсь перед его мастерством. Дмитрий вы воин благородного и чистого, защитник истины и сеятель прекрасного. Ну и просто классный парень!

Dimitri, I started listening and had to listen to the very end. Great interpretation! One might argue that it is maybe too romantic but I just love the way you are able to express every variation. And your guitar sounds fantastic. Or rather you play fantastically on a very decent instrument. If I see you your concert somewhere in the globe, I will definitely come to see you. (I'm not coming to Moscow though)
J Kado, good point about "that it is maybe too romantic" but who cares... The questions should be , "would Bach himself like it" and "does it glorify God?"
Beyond my understanding how anyone could possibly remember all the notes and ALSO use his fingers to play them, much less play them as well as this. I feel like a slug in the garden. Bravo, Mr I.
Andrés Segovia is the best ? Andrés was good because in that time he didn´t have competition ... he is nothing compered with Williams, Barrueco, Dimitri.... so that is a stupid sentence, Great performance Dimitri

Segovia played the chaconne better than Williams, Barrueco who is dreadfully boring and many others. So your sentence is the stupid one !

Больше чем хотелось бы у Илларионова присутствует полемичная экспрессивность .Но этот музыкант может себе ее позволить - это личность.А тот, кто утверждает что Сеговия лучше - просто дилетант. Сеговию мы уважаем как историческую личность.А Илларионов - один из лучших гитаристов-музыкантов мира.
Да ладно, а мне не очень нравится его интерпретация чаконы. Услышал я как-то раз Nicola Hall - вот от её исполнения у меня мурашки по коже пошли.
P.S. Временами кажется, что гитару вот-вот порвет.
Мне не нравится!!! И далеко он не лучший. До лучшего надо еще играть научиться.

Согласен. Илларионов как и должно быть, выше мастера, что был ранее. Так и должно быть, Сеговия бы счел эту трактовку удачной.

Дим, смотри как тут все сцепились!!! вот это исполнение- вообще я считаю жто одним из лучших исполнений Чакконы на каком либо инструменте! горжусь знакомством и дружбой с таким потрясающим музыкантом- иду играть .... Чаккону, и ничего лучше ,чем послушать тебя непосредственно перед игрой, я придумать не мог;)))

Блестяще, талантливо и виртуозно! Одно из лучших исполнений на гитаре Чаконы Баха, которое мне довелось слышать. У каждого человека может быть свое видение этого произведения. В исполнении другого гитариста эта музыка ассоциировалась у меня с набегающими на берег морскими волнами Средиземного моря в холодный весенний день. Но и интерпретация этого произведения замечательным гитаристом Илларионовым - великолепна.
Конечно, такое экспрессивное исполнение Чаконы может нравиться или не нравиться. Но оно поразительно.

I had the privilege of seeing Dimitri Illarionov in Puerto Rico around the year 2006 or so. That was the best classical guitar concert I have ever seen (and I have heard a lot of the world's greatest classical guitarists perform live). He is without question one of the best classical guitarists ever- definitely in the top 5 with the best.
It started promising, and it has very good parts but one has to distinguish between passion and exaggeration. Nonetheless, a powerful and praiseworthy performance, notwithstanding the awfully noisy background.

If I could ever play this piece, it would be like this. He brings out the majesty and drama of the music!
Yes, Yes, Yes. Just finished a close analysis of this in a music class and have to say that of all the great versions, Mr. Illarianov's seems to achieve the stridency and urgency of a piece written for the particular character of the violin. The other versions seem too tame especially in the opening sections. Anyway, too bad there's no mp3. :( :(

Сеговия хорош сам по себе, а это - пожалуй, лучшее исполнение "Чаконы" Баха за последние несколько лет.
Нет не лет, Сеговия бы услышав его отдал бы ему свою гитару....!
Hate to say it, but this had a very uneven rhythm. The fast passages were kind of rough and he slowed them down. He reminds me of Eliot Fisk, who often stretches his technical ability way past the limits in live performances, and it really shows in a bad way.
I’m 93 years old, have seen and heard all the greats and for me this is the one.

I do prefer the beginning a bit more subtle though. He's trying to be too dramatic.
Dimitri’s transcription has enhanced one of Bach’s greatest works. Even with the minor glitch at 4:57 this is probably the best solo performance I have ever heard on any instrument. The techniques he uses are unbelievable. As for Segovia, no contest!!

Великолепный гитарист,но великий пианист в нём умер навсегда,а жаль?!.По сравнению с этим гитаристом,мы все ГИТАРАСТЫ!
Бах -немецкий композитор,а Чакона-испанский танец траурного содержания.Дмитрий и сделал Чакону по-испански страстно,а заодно и нас всех сделал,как Тузик грелку порвал и слил в дренаж.
Экспрессия тут совсем неуместна, да и спешка нужна, как известно, только при ловле блох!

Great guitar skills even if it not baroque music any more. To say it in a few words : I wish I could play guitar like this, but I would not play these piece like this.

As nightfall blankets the Earth and even the owls are respectful of the calming quiet she prefers, and the boisterous Sun moves Westward with it's distractions...I'm drawn into an emotional state so soothing upon witnessing this that once I'm returned from it, it pains me to be reminded how deluding the Moon can be: that beautiful irony is rediscovered each time I witness this powerful, heartfelt performance to it's end. Such an irony is magnified by the rarity of how often I realize what precious a gift music is ie; when superb writing falls into skilled hands.

This is near Enescu's the best interpretation of Bach's chiaconne. It is like natural thinking through music, like the music indeed is. IT IS A PHANTASTIC INTERPRETATION!!!! BRAVO MILLION TIMES!!!!

Исполнение Илларионова мне вообще не нравится. Послушайте Чакону в исполнении испанского гитариста Диего Бланка. Вот где исполнено по-Баховски.

Лучшее исполнение чаконы. Жаль Дмитрий еë сейчас играет слишком форсированно. Я ориентируюсь при исполнении именно на эту версию. Легато правда играю легато, а не как и Дмитрий а-ля пикадо)) (в части с 32-ми)
Excellent interpretation
Сеговия играет Баха, а Илларионов демонстрирует возможности Илларионова. Офигенные возможности, но это как выкрутить все тембры при прослушивании музыки или орать в зал при декламации стихов, предполагая, что народ сидит полуглухой. Я не удивляюсь, что большое количество дизлайков. В молодости играл в ансамбле, наш барабанщик так лупил в барабаны, что слышно было только его. Приходилось обкладывать ему все шинелями и и черт те чем, лишь бы приглушить его "экспрессию"...
Если бы его возможности сочетались с исполнением без лажи и фальши, то цены бы ему не было, а на концертах был бы аншлаг.

@@M_Yur Вообще то речь идёт гитаристе Илларионове, его исполнении Чаконы и его каких то офигенных возможностях, правда не уточняется каких, что касается гитаристов, которых вы мне перечислили, я конечно слышал их, но это не то исполнение которое мне нравится, но несомненно мне они импонируют больше чем Илларионов.
Чакону нашёл в исполнении Р.Мамедкулиева, А.Дервоед и Ю.Нугманов в их исполнении не нашёл, может в каких концертах и исполняют, но мне хватило послушать другие исполнения ими другие произведения И.С.Баха и мне достаточно было этого чтобы делать свои выводы. Отвратительна я работа тупого видео оператора -уставился с одной точки и так не шелохнулся... Ему неинтерсны эмоции на лице Дмитрия... А Бах ЗДЕСЬ звучит в органной интерпритации - и это на гитаре интересно... Здесь, считаю , никакая игра тембром не нужна ... Бах был по своей СУТИ - органист...

Where is the passion and the controlled pain, that saturates this piece? This piece is not written by someone very angry, but by a man who just suffered the tragedy of unexpected death of his young wife an child.
mette holm In many people, the pain of such unexpected loss takes the form of anger against fate, God, or whatever he might blame it on. Maybe he raging against the gods.

an impressive performance.Illarionov captures the drama beautifully and his playing is full of passion ,but his tome is often ugly and harsh and his playing can be too aggressive at times, with maturity he will become one of the best.
Impresionante !!! La amplitud tímbrica y sonora(Volumen) me parece difícil de lograr. Parece que le va a cortar las cuerdas cuando se pone caliente. Sin embargo, sin abusar, encuentra un momento para bajar y sonar suave .FELICITACIONES! Para mi gusto , la mejor interpretación que escuché de La Chacona de Bach.
C'mon, are you kidding? First one of your links -- it is just horrible, sounds like it was played using just one finger. Second one is much better in terms of technique, but it is non-emotional at all, there is no story, no nothing behind it. Are you serious, or you're just trolling us?

Believe me I did. Initially Chaconne was a Spanish dance, yes, but at the Bach's times it was already so far from dance. I agree I do not know much about Soellscher but why do I need other people's opinion when I hear it by myself? I am listening mostly to the music and less to critics' opinions. By the way, in every region of the world you'll find local 'best performer' of Bach's or any other music. I've heard lots of Chaconne performances, and, for me, Soellscher's one is not the best one.

Было бы лучше, ели бы он так не лажал и фальшивил, послушал не одно его исполнение этой Чаконы и везде он играет лажово, практически в одних и тех же местах, а это говорит о том что эта лажа заиграна и исправить это, в его случае невозможно, по одной простой причине, что он сам этого не хочет или не может. Это произведение на ютюбе играют сотни гитаристов и гораздо лучше, прослушайте, а потом восхваляйте действительно достойное исполнение.

Very clean technique- but opening chords played to harshly. Appreciate the valiant thirty second notes scales, but he murders them. Too fast, loss of control, sloppy. Playing music or going to a fire?
Live performance. We've all seen world-class players goof up in live settings. He plays how he feels, isn't it what we are all doing? (Unless you are playing how your teacher told you to play or something)
