After 5 years of watching all types of watches on UA-cam, this is the first to see the watchmaker actually adjust those little "stars" on the Rolex when a watch has been past the +6,-4 parameters, nice one, great fix .
Hey! Don’t knock your videography skills Peter. I think this was maybe the slickest one yet. I watch a lot of watch restoration channels and I really like that you talk us through it. Not knocking the other channels, but I don’t care for ASMR. Did an amazing job with this. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas ✌🏻
So great to see a blend of selling videos and watch repair. There's so much artistry and craftsmanship that goes into a repair like this. Beautiful work!
These restorations are great, Pete. Being a one man band, it may not be as feasible, but when you get to a point where you can get help, there should be more of these 100%
This is an exceptional way to show off your expertise. Anyone can sell. Not everyone can speak about watches with such knowledge. Keep evolving in social media and with your videos and you will do very well in the coming years. Congrats dude.
Peter, thanks for bailing me out. This is my watch and Tommy was nice enough to get me in touch with you when Rolex would not touch the watch due to the after market part. She's back on my wrist now and keeping time beautifully. This was a college graduation present from my parents in 1994 and was purchased in Davos, Switzerland where my parents have a home. My mom is Swiss. For those reasons this watch means so much to me so Thank You! Btw, I didn't know that cream hands were an option to match the dial. I'd love to do that!
I'll say it again best watch channel on UA-cam. Love the complete breakdown of the watch and the whole process. Keep it up, and i wish you the best and more business 🤙
1:50 - The way the dial face perforated and cracked to look almost like fish scales - would have looked sick if the entire face was like that. It would have been impossible to preserve it and keep it that way. But it would have been “1 in the world” unique. Another dope video! Keep it up! 👍
Love the restoration vids! I first started being interested in watches a few years ago watching nico leonard, i liked the passion and comedy. I slowly became interested in actual horology thru deep dives in history and importance of movements. These restoration videos make me want to buy some tools and broken watches to restore them as a hobby! Thank you for the work you do Peter! Genuinely inspirational.
Great video. I had a similar experience recently with a Breitling. It took 3 days soaking in various chemicals to get the stem out from the keyless works and I must have replaced around 30 components and half the screws. This does lead to a question; the 7750 movement was easy to source parts for and they are, actually, pretty cheap. Given the restrictions on Rolex parts (and the resulting cost in the NoS market) how did you manage to source all the parts you needed?
Hi Peter, great video! I really value your skills - you are crazy talented! I would love to see a video in the future about your journey, what inspired you & how you learnt your craft. Keep up the great work!
great work man, we have talked on reddit before about watchmaking in australia etc and you do show some great skill - some tips for next time, remove the cam yoke jewel BEFORE removing the GMT cover plate - they are super easy to loose and by keeping the cover plate on first youll save yourself the stress (of course take the calandar wheel plate off first lol) -- and also just general cleanliness, lots of bits of fluff everywhere and some small finger prints but that all comes with practice, your doign amazing
Why didn't you ultrasonic clean the movement in clr then soal in wd .A lot of the parts are Brass or plated brass and a ton of rust would have come off. You still have a bit to learn it will be fun to watch you advance .I'm from Miami and lived in NY so I have a Lot of experience with waterlogged watches .Also it's not hard to re plate parts with Rhodium( which is what's correct)
appreciate it! and yes just like everyone always learning love it! CLR or really any evaporust products tend to leave behind a residue and will slowly eat away at bridges, if you check after soaking under a microscope you can actually see a deeper pitting. Using a liquid polish is much safe in my opinion yes these could have been replated unfortunately under a time constraint.
@@Peterpic yes true but lot of jeweler's keep a jar of rhodium solutions Hicham even in the worst cases 10 min.Just giving tips to another hourologist.Like watching your channel. I'm always learning new things from others in the industry
That's so cool, man! Can you give us a run down on what parts you had to replace and how much a service like this cost? I'm guessing it was a few grand at least considering the dial and all of the parts you replaced.
@@Peterpicthank you for all your hard work on putting these videos together. Can see there is a lot of time, thought, and money invested to prepare these. It’s paying off! Great quality
Yea I take in very few pieces at a time, with my schedule currently I wouldn’t be able to keep up with everything, these types of restorations take a bit of time regular service in and out within a day. 3 days more for observation
Great video Peter, you've got a new subscriber! Keep these videos coming. Quick question - are the non reusable parts sourced directly from Rolex or where does one get ahold of parts for older watches?
Dude, please do more watch servicing videos. These are DOPE. And you were the best thing about Luxury Bizarre BTW - by far. A true artisan.
I have a few more restorations coming soon! thanks for watching
Peter literally buys his fakeaudience
@@Richard_James_Schueler I don't care about audience size lol
Also a dope - in a negative sense - is whoever took this in the sea water!☹️

This was awesome. Can I hire you to give mine the once over?
It’s in good shape except the crystal needs replacement.

Watching this is therapeutic, thoroughly enjoyable and the entire time I’m thinking how fortunate is the owner of this GMT. 🙌🏼
Thank you for watching!! And I enjoy this stuff a lot, very calming to work on it.. until you run into stripped screws then the cursing starts

So usually this is referred to as a “spider dial” the old lacquer cracks but doesn’t fall off the dial plate! Super unique to see in person!

great video Peter! question, where does a watch repair person such as yourself source all these parts? And are they Rolex OEM or aftermarket? Thanks!
Yes only OEM parts and I’m lucky enough to have source haha.
Nicely done man!
Curious…Are you able to get it running within COSC standards after a complete rebuild like that?
zero issue, a fair amount of parts were changed and everything was cleaned thoroughly so I had zero issues with regulation.
Incredible ❤
Thank you!

Yes you do and thanks!
This was such a good video! Thanks Peter best of luck to you, I hope you can keep it up 👍
