@@elisageorge1798 True, except he worked with her on the Glamourous Life album which, like Purple Rain, was released that same year in 1984. So they WERE working together. Plus those years were prolific out-put for Prince songwriting. Makes sense that he would use he help of a gifted drummer. You can hear the same conga-"riffs"in this extended song as with the song the Glamourous Life extended version. So they had to be jamming together in the studio.
