What grocery items have gone up the most from what you've seen? Original haul video here (subscribe to my vlog channel too!): ua-cam.com/video/vBsK7Hj6qWo/v-deo.html
You should double check sizes. Often when a price doesn't go up as much, the size goes down. It's called "shrink flation"
Yes! 😢
Cereal boxes are a big victim of this
It’s happened
Or the quality decreases,so the company doesn’t lose money because of inflation of ingredients.
@@flvffcinna sometimes both.
I’ve noticed some items got considerably smaller units especially in packaged foods.
From TJs?
@@honeysuckle yes, Like the dumpling bags, wings, and Korean bbq ribs that I usually buy has gone done by almost a half!😢
Broccoli- 15 Oz versus 16 Oz- 🥺🤦♀️
Shrinkflation
@@honeysucklethe pizza dough comparison in your side by side looks significantly less than the one in 2021!
In addition to prices going up, we also have to assess whether the ingredient list has changed. I noticed some foods adding in filler-like ingredients to their products, basically worsening the quality of their food. I've noticed this in dairy products such as milk, butter, or yogurt. One of the butters I buy at Costco now contains natural flavors in the ingredient list... Frankly, there shouldn't be any additives in simple foods like butter to begin with. We also have to watch out if the package size has decreased.
I still shop here but notice that I've stopped getting all the snack items. The brocoli bag is also smaller today, so definitely went up in price, and part of the whole shrinking trend in packaging.
Yes definitely! The fresh broccoli bag is smaller and more expensive, but the frozen stayed the same!
Yeah the bag did get smaller but I believe that it was still 16oz just like the other one. So they prob just made the bags smaller, which decreases waste so that's good lol
I noticed it is better to get the organic veggies from Costco. The bag is bigger. And i always look for sales and plan out what to make. I also get whole chicken from the farmers market and debone it. I use the bones to make chicken stock. It is also cheaper to make your own dumplings, but i know it is hard if mom has to work, plus taking care of the kids, cooking and cleaning is alot.
Some items are more expensive, some stays the same , however the size is way smaller than before...
That’s shrinkflation for y’a.
This recession is most likely the result of an external factor. For the first time in decades, the United
States is losing its clout as a federal reserve currency. They don't have any more economies to use to
control inflation, and less money is being spent on stock and oil trading than in the past. They all lend
support to the idea that a new multilateral world order is in the works.
Keep this in the back of your mind. There are good days and bad days. It's a zero-sum game, but keep this
advice in mind: spend wisely, invest wisely, and diversify your holdings so that when one performs poorly,
the others do as well. This can be accomplished by hiring a knowledgeable specialist whose platform provides
a wide range of investment options. By doing so, you leave little room for regrets and may even gain more.
@@JennyLawHere With the assistance of an investment advisor, I was able to diversify my $401k portfolio across multiple markets, earning over $980k in net profit from high dividend yielding stocks, ETFs, and bonds in just a few short months.

Would you mind recommending a specialist with a variety of investment options? This is extremely rare,
and I eagerly await your response.

My trustworthy advisor, Juliet Eve Downey, works for a fee only. She actually offers free consultations and
always has the interests of her clients at heart. She and I have been colleagues ever since I turned 40. She is
a busy woman, but if you can catch her attention, she might be able to help.

This recommendation comes just in time because I'm literally grasping for straws right now! I looked her up
on the internet and made plans to call her.
I think it's important to look at it from the perspective of the percentage increase too. 20 cents here and there does not seem like a lot. But 20 cents on an item that's only a couple dollars is huge. Really interesting video!
You go, girl! You glammed up! 😍
Pandemic life back then but I did like the bangs! Lol
Omgosh your baby at the end, the cutest little nugget!!!
The “hi” 🥹🥹
Something to note, depending on when you bought your other groceries. Feb-march ALWAYS has a massive spike (30-40%) on cucumbers - since I started tracking stuff back to early 2000s, cucumbers will start to drop after easter
that's super interesting and good to keep in mind
Oh my goodness, your littles are so precious at the end ☺️☺️
Here's the thing. My normal every-week bill last summer jumped up by almost $50 dollars. I knew this economy was in serious trouble when TJ's had no choice but after 20 years, they had to raise some items from $1.99. Not TJ's fault at all, it's our economy and quite frankly the cost of doing business in CA. TJ's is a CA-based business. CA regulates businesses to the point of extinction. We have really bad politics here. TJ's is still the best deal in many many ways. At my local stores, many crew members still work there after 15 years. It's a good business that we need to support.
Really great points!!
❤❤❤Thank you for this information.😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Prices have Def increased..went to market ystrdy & was so proud I spent less then $200 & lemons are 👀 expensive!
Cuteness overload! So, this is my assessment for grocery shopping. 1- You really have to be savvy. Some of the items I have noticed will have the same price but the packing amount has changed! 2-Which stores have what items you use the most for less. Some prices have not changed for certain items but can only get them at particular stores. 3-Buying in season is helpful and farmers. Usually cheaper. 4-What neighborhood are you buying in. I bought a prime rib roast in a rural area at a well known grocery store that was $30 cheaper then the usual price!! I could not figure it out. Same chain same items as 15 miles away but 30 bucks cheaper.
Just came across your channel today. Your kids are ADORABLE! Great content too.
Thanks so much for watching!!! 😊
Very smart & fun video idea! 🤓
So happy you liked it!!
Not gonna lie, doing online shopping has really made it easy to see the price increases and changes- A LOT in meats and veggies like you had...just try to catch them when they on sale now 😉
Fantastic video! TJ is still good value.
TJs have the best Korean short ribs. It was $10 back then, and now it's $14. :( I finally got it since I haven't bought them for over a year. I'm eating it tomorrow... Hope it's still worth it.
Hope it’s still as good as you remember too
Oooh! I wish you could do this for other places as well, but I know it’s hard because you may not have old footages that dedicate to the pricing of other places.
Think I'm going to start buying frozen organic broccoli from TJ's. My other go-to grocery is Sprout's. I paid 2.99 a lbs for Organic broccoli 🥦
Yes!! I always feel like frozen veggies don’t get enough love. Fruits I’m more weary about since there’s always recalls 😕
This is very low increase. In the UK, some of my basic stuff went up by a whole pound, hardly anything is the same. 30% increase on average. The stuff that didn't increase, shrunk in size 😢
Very interesting that the prices hadn't gone up that much. I bet if you had purchased eggs, the price would have been whoa!! LOL
In my area the eggs have gone up at the big chain grocery stores, but the organic pastured eggs have stayed relatively the same price at my local organic market. For example Harris Teeter sells Vital Farms eggs for about $9.50 for a dozen and my organic market sells the exact same eggs for about $7.30. I try not to shop at the big box stores.
I only buy my eggs at trader joes now only place that's 2.99 for me and almond milk hasn't gone up either 2.99 and I live in an expensive state
Get urself some lemon tress, plant in pots, you will always have them 😁👍
That would be a dream to have a lemon tree 🍋
Oh my, your children are beautiful and so sweet. Very informative video. tfs 🙏🏻
Thank you! Loved seeing them this small
This was quite encouraging… I was just at Trader Joe’s the other day and feeling like the prices hadn’t gone up that much, and you’ve confirmed that! Definitely hasn’t gone up the way so many other things have with other retailers- my favorite cereal doubled in price, and so many things are multiple dollars more than before, not just 50 cents. Added with smaller packaging sizes that no longer align with the amounts needed in recipes… it’s just frustrating to shop. Plus so many things not in stock! I’m glad Trader Joe’s has good quality at decent prices. I wish the closest one wasn’t an hour away!
Multiple dollars more is so discouraging. I’ve started buying in bulk for a lot of our pantry items and noticed some things have shrunk in packaging size too.
I loved your video, a thousand likes, cordial greetings from Mexico City. congratulations on your channel.
Thank you for making this video. To be honest though, I feel like grocery prices really spiked in 2020/2021. It would be interesting to compare 2019 prices to 2023 prices.
That’s a great idea! Hoping I could dig up content from that time! 😄😄
I know from my Grandpartens (living during WW2 and after that) that you will get in those times problems with meat, diary and fresh vegs. So the best way to save money is eating vegetarian or even vegan and having your own garden, planting your own vegs. The problem is that not everyone can afford a place anymore where you can put at least some tomateplants and potatoplants in your garden or balcony.
I still have grocery ads from 2020, and the biggest differences: eggs, lettuce, meat (esp. ground turkey), oats, cereal
Beautiful family 💞
But aren't at least some of them smaller packs now? It looks like it, so then many more are pricier. But I am not from US so idk - I did notice that trend in my country tho.
Not from what I noticed (from what I bought)… would have definitely called that out!
@@honeysuckle Thank you for clarification. 🤗
@@honeysuckle the frozen fruit, most notably mango, have definitely shrunk. They came in 2 sizes and when I went 3 days ago, I thought I grabbed the smaller pack but no, both are much smaller now. The frozen green beans also.
we did it Joe.
First
Love u❤❤❤
🥹💗💗
Do you feel like there is just less pizza dough? Even in your video you can see it was more. I buy this dough for many years and I just feel like they kept the price but reduced amount.
You need to check the size, weight, and ingredients too. I bought bleach, the price remains the same, the size remains the same but when i check inside, it only fills half. 😠
i wish we had trader joes in Canada :( I spent $95 on / bags of groceries
Grocery and TJ's prices all went up. The shocker was the price of organic brown rice. At one grocery store it was 7.99 a bag, for a pound or 2.
Whoa! That is a lot!!
On the good side of this, I don't feel extra anymore for getting my soy milk and yoghurt since cow milk and yoghurt prices are almost the same now 😂😂
I'm in Germany and mostly buy at Aldi and Lidl. The same pack of sliced cheese that was 1,99 at the end of 2021 went up to 2,29 last spring, to 2,99 in the summer and then to 3,49 during fall. We spend about 25% more on groceries each month than we did in 2020 with the same amount of income.
Fruit and veg will fluctuateall depends if they in season or not
The kids are so cute🥰
The broccoli bag looked smaller now
Great video but most definitely the size and oz isn't the same even if price is
Definitely true for the fresh broccoli tho I’ve noticed that frozen have remained the same
Just want to say two years can change a person 🙂
Lol my hair was way cuter back then
Citrus has gone up considerably because of the citrus blight
Just price everything by the once and that the true price shrink product size is how it’s happening
🥰🥰🥰
Trader Joe's is the only grocery store where the prices have mostly not changed. Go to a regular grocery store to do your comparison.
Wow!!! Prices went up since 2021 😕 Prices go up all of the time. And I always wonder why? I still wonder why I am paying $15 for a movie ticket when in the 80's I paid less than $5 😠
The only logical answer is greed 🤨
Where have the cooking videos gone? 😢
They’re all still there
This is interesting but not a fair comparison because the sizes have changed. Shrinkflation is real.
Remember sizes have decreased. So less in bags.
Yes especially the fresh veggies
I will say it is recession-proof, considering the slight increase and most of the foods are still affordable. I never got meat from there, but I buy a lot of produce and frozen items.
Yes the frozen items are amazing and glad they’re stayed the same for the most part!
They try to keep the same price, but the amount is getting less for the same price .
It’s uncanny how most of the stuff you bought are the same price from over 2 years which is a steal
I was quite surprised too!
@@honeysuckle right? Just amazes me sometimes
the prices are the same the money is worth less
I kind of wish you would’ve done aldi or a more affordable store ….
Eggs?
3.49
3.99
Hi. Hi. So precious at that age.
Aldi is much affordable than Walmart or anywhere else.
FOOD PRICES are a JOKE! these days. Very sad and depressing.
This proves that there are ways to keep things affordable. We love Trader Joe’s!
2.29-1.99 is 30 cents not 20😂
👏
These items are almost all completely unrelatable.
I'm not even a fan of Boba. But after watching this video, I want some Boba now 🧋🤤
