      Personal development videos such as this one, can be quite insightful. With "How to LOVE Yourself The Right Way", I found it to be quite helpful. In fact, I even started partaking in the "Knowing Yourself" activity as a way of getting a better sense of who I am currently. While I wouldn't say I've completely "finished" the activity, it has been an interesting reflecting process for myself.
      And with this video, I was surprised by the specific phrases that show a lack of confidence. I also appreciated the alternative phrases you suggested, such as saying "Excuse me" instead of "Sorry to bother you". Overall, I thought this was another fantastic video from you guys. Great job @Psych2go! Oh, and I also thought that the voice over artist here(Drew Baillie)was fantastic in narrating this video.

      Omg. What if this actually works? What if this allows someone to love themselves for who they are? I struggle with self restriction, which makes me feel shame for some of the things that I do, even though they’re not hurting anyone. It’s the pressure and high unrealistic expectations that I put on myself to fit in with society’s norms. I have come so far in my healing, but the perfectionist is still there, and I constantly shit on myself for making mistakes or for showing emotions that are not related to happiness.

    • @AutomaticDuck300
      @AutomaticDuck300 Місяць тому +13

      @@siennaprice1351 remember that society and capitalism exist to keep themselves going. Not to make you feel good about yourself.
      The irony is that the less you care about what people think, the more they like you. If you care what people think, you are giving control of your life to other people. You are allowing them to control you.
      As for perfectionism, aim for “good enough”. Not by society’s standards, by yours. Then if you make a mistake, you learn from it. The more mistakes you make, the more you learn. People who judge you for making a mistake are not worth caring about anyway.

I don’t hear any voices inside me saying that I won’t get there. I will get there. And I can get there. I will smack self restriction upside the head. To be honest, I don’t everyone in the world to love me, but I don’t want everyone in the world to hate me.

    This is really helpful, thank you! I think Psych2go is in my walls 'cause today I was talking to a person and I said 'I just' 'cause I was worried, and it's very true- it's just a filler that removes assertiveness and makes you sound more apologetic, insecure and honestly- like you feel like you're a bother. I need to stop focusing so much on whether people will like me, and start viewing myself as a catch, someone who other people would be lucky to have. Not in a narcissistic way, but I really am someone people would be lucky to have, I need to start acting like it and thinking of myself that way. A lot of the social anxiety I get is from a negative self-image, so I need to work on how I view myself. Thanks again psych2go, you're amazing

    Confidence is key, people. Don’t worry about how you talk-even if you use some of these phrases! Have confidence in your speech, and that’s what’s important! ❤
    - Edit: What I mean, is..
    Even if the way you speak is less direct, or is more timid/open, you don’t need to SOUND confident right away to BE confident! Sure, it can help to let others know you’re sure of yourself, and that’s great! But the first step to BEING confident is proving to yourself you’re proud of what you do already and are fully capable to do better and achieve greatness! ILY, stranger. Take care.

    It sounds good but sometimes I feel that the world needs less people becoming more confident and instead people need less expectations of confidence from other people and become more participative to share responsibilities and to question more instead of needing to feel safe, be less prone to reject or accept before reasoning about things. I feel that what you say as a lack of confidence is actually an invite for participating in the decisions like a group, people should work more like a group and less individualistic when talking about decisions or learning about anything. People tend to try to find culprits instead of being part of the decisions and results.

    I do agree with some of the phrases in this video, however, i also feel like its the way you bring it. Its like the 'awkward situation' dilemma, it becomes awkward if you make it awkward. If you think you need to change some of these, all power to you! Self improvement is very important and it never stops. But if this is just the way you speak, why change? I personally dont see any problems with these, maybe thats because of my personality? I dont know haha.

      The whole video sounds like "if you don't feel confident in yourself, then fake it!" Which is a terrible advice in my mind.
      If you aren't confident in yourself, improve yourself until you are proud of yourself as a human being, not invent other ways to talk because it sounds better. If you lack confidence, show it to the world! At least people appreciate the honesty and truthfulness you express. "Fake it until you make it" mindset is toxic and needs to die.

      @@manoftherainshorts9075 Actually, it’s their own perception. Not false not true. And it depends on everyone, on situation, and his/her experience etc. I think everyone knows what is the best for them. Free for you to attach on their own perception or not !
      And I think you’re the own who knows your weaknesses and your qualities and you find balance on your own not Psycho 2 go !
      And the thing that you have to be aware that Psycho 2 go talk something very general and very superficial too. You don’t have to identity yourself. Just listening their perception but not my cup of tea.
      Well, for me, I just do on my own and focus what I like ! But I know my weaknesses and qualities and I embrace all of them because that’s makes me as a human ! And it’s personal for each person !
      And here I really don’t care the advice of Pyscho 2 go !
      But actually, I understand your perception !

    • @mn37
      @mn37 Місяць тому +1

      @@manoftherainshorts9075 "Fake it until you make it" can actually be helpful, at least it has been for me and I'll explain why.
      Confidence is similar to our attitude towards all things in life but it's just towards us. If you think that tomorrow is going to be a boring day, it will most likely be boring. But if you think it will be fun, you are more likely to feel positive emotions during tomorrow, even if it will be a bit boring. Same goes for confidence.
      Another example: If you think you need to go for a run consistently to be a sporty person you are less likely to go for a run. If you think that you are already a sporty person you are more likely to go for a run since you migh think "what would a sporty person do?". Once again, same goes with confidence. Think about yourself as a confidence person while acknowledging that you aren't yet where you want to be. That makes you more likely to act like a confidence person and therefore you start to believe that you actually are getting more confidence.
      I get your point though. If you aren't happy about where you are in life or what you are like as a person, then do something about it. Thinking positively can help the progress but it won't do the work for you.

    I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but I was not always shy and not as confident. After being in quarantine and a mentally abusive relationship got me to this point.. But I feel like it’s a journey, I have plenty of moment where I don’t even think about my anxiety and I glide easily through social engagements. When I tell people I just met or co workers that I’ve known for years,, people don’t believe me when I say I’m shy. I’m realizing it’s really in my head no matter how real it feels. Simple eye contact makes me uncomfortable at times. But what helps me is remembering that no one is laser focused on the things I am insecure about. Get in a habit of not overthinking interactions and just let them happen. If you react a certain way, don’t think it’s because you are weird just accept and trust your responses and actions. You aren’t an alien that can’t connect with people. You just have a different approach, which is perfectly okay. Be kind and understanding with yourself like you are with your friends.

I've seen that happen so many times around me and that thought doesn't leave my mind.
    Does anyone has a tip for that kind of issue?

    At 3:08, I had a random thought on a replacement phrase for “I’m worried”. I liked how earlier in the video Psych2go mentioned an alternative phrase to “sorry to bother you”, and I was thinking of an alternative to “I’m worried”, but I’m not sure if it’s a good fit. Instead of saying “I’m worried that I won’t make it on time”, could I say “I don’t think I’ll make it on time”. Then I can come up with a solution for the problem. Would this work ok?

    A good rule of thumb to help with your cofidence is to build strong faith and trust in your morals, and to accept the realization that not everyone will agree with them. Be the better person and agree to disagree, because getting frustrated over a conflict can also be a sign of low-confidence.

    • @Slim_Charles
      @Slim_Charles Місяць тому +1

      I think the difference between confidence and arrogance lies in how you treat other people. Confidence is being comfortable in one’s own skin, regardless of the opinion of others; arrogance is more like boosting oneself up by lowering others. You can be confident and still be warm and kind; the same is not true of arrogance. Arrogance has something to prove; confidence does not.

      Just take a deep breath and remember that actual gender disphoria is very, very rare. What we've been seeing the past five or so years is a social contagion.
      Feeling wierd about your body and identity is pretty normal and most people grow out of it.
      The non-binary thing is a fad too. Everyone who has ever lived is non-binary. Most of the "they/them" are narcissists.

    As someone with Septo Optic Dysplasia and CPTSD, I deal with self restriction, because I was not allowed to freely express myself. Because of SOD, I am totally blind and on the autism spectrum. So I do certain things that benefit my blindness, autism and CPTSD. But society views them as socially awkward. It’s led me down the path of self restriction, self shame, and setting unrealistic expectations on myself. And if I meet someone, I always say, “if it’s ok with you, I constantly touch and explore things, and I may do this and that, and I might show some emotions.” I’ve overcame self doubt. It’s the self restriction and the self disrespect that I need to overcome. I CAN DO THIS! AND I WILL DO IT! I AM WORTH IT!
