The head scratcher was using him as a blocking TE, they used him wrong from the get go. I will never forget when Greg Olson came in and said he suggested some things and the staff is like, “We cant/don’t do that here.” Mind blowing, Carroll had no idea how to effectively use TE’s. Fant is a stud, he just needs to be unleashed.

Great comment. I totally agree that Fant will 'shine' under Grubb's play calling. Brandon has a great video about 4 UDFA players, Westover (Huskies TE) is one of them. It was AMAZING how many times Grubb called specific plays just for Westover on crucial 3rd downs or in the red zone. Fant is going to thrive for sure. Go Hawks!

Well, that's what happens when you trade your Center. The o-line regresses and the TE has to be used as a blocker to compensate.

Our offensive line fell off a cliff when that trade happened.

Ahh Brandon, revisiting Jimmy Graham will only lead to headaches, ulcers, or nose bleeds...LOL. It's probably fair to guess that Cable and Carroll wanted to turn Graham into a TE that can block, and Schneider said "Really?" That said, if we start seeing Christian Haynes playing LEFT Guard, who gets the blame if that fails? MacDonald and Coach Huff/Coach Grubb, or does this look like Schneider not wanting to spend money on the OL? Schneider has made some GREAT draft picks over the years, but OL has been his Achilles Heel for years imo. I also think Jimmy did score something like 10 TDs his last season, but might be wrong here. Think they threw 'jump balls' in the end zone for him. But totally agree with your main point, very sad that they tried to turn him into a blocker...wow. Looking forward to your next live stream. Go Hawks!

I agree, 100%… If we had an actual plan to utilize Jimmy Graham, the way that he had proven over and over again to be capable of, then maybe it would’ve been worth it. I remember thinking that it didn’t bother me losing the draft pick as much as it bothered me losing Max Unger. We haven’t had a solid Center as consistent since Max went to New Orleans.

Well it’s hard to say it was ridiculous at the time of the trade.
Jimmy was an all-pro level TE easily top 5 nfl talent, not to mention Russ needed a big target for the red zone. The biggest mistake was the underestimation of how good Max Unger really was, he also was a pro bowler level Center (all pro in 2012) that the saints needed desperately to anchor their subpar middling OL. I blame Carroll and his offensive schemes of run first mentality that ultimately ruined what could have been a huge target for Russ. But remember he did blossom very late in his last year in Seattle with 10 TDs that year too

Very cool comment. Especially agree that it is odd that Graham scored 10 TDs in his final year, but the Hawks didn't resign him...smh. Watch Brandon's video about 4 UDFA players. I was amazed at how many crucial 3rd down/red zone calls were specifically for Westover. Fant is going to love this new offense. Go Hawks!

@@addicted2hawks115 I’m actually very excited for Fant in this offense personally, outta of the 3 we had on the roster last year, fant was really the only one I would have retained as well. Fant still has insane measurable (6’4 250lbs) and still has that ~4.5 speed you really love in any ball catching TE but I feel like fant did a great job blocking as well for Seattle the times he was out there instead of Dissly.
No doubt about it, fant will finally see his name called a lot more this year
As for the 10 TD season, I wanna say that was Schottenheimer year of coaching where that was the year russ actual threw the ball and was in contention for “mvp talks”

Darrell Bevell always needed s slash player, from Percy Harvin . He made excuses saying "If I just had this guy , my offense would be unstoppable" He (Bevell) was trash and we are still looking for a center to this day.

    • @addicted2hawks115

I must agree with Bevell, Slash was/is an awesome guitarist, too bad the Hawks didn't sign him...omg, awful Guns and Roses joke. Never mind. Seriously I agree with your comment about Bevell. Even more, I STILL think Bevell made that final pass play call in the Super Bowl, and Pete just 'fell on the sword' so Bevell wouldn't be skinned alive. A rollout pass so Russ could throw, run, or dump the ball would have been safe. Throw into the middle of a great defense inside the 5 yard line...worse play call ever. Again great comment. Go Hawks

The Carroll coaching staff has been holding back the Seahawks talent for years!
