    I just picked up my mother's national which is identical to the Panasonic, I'm starting the restoration process on mine it is dear to my heart, I'm trying to locate somebody that I can trust with it to do the work. These are a real piece of history and they sound great, I lossed my mother 11 years ago and every time I touch this console I feel that she's with me.

      National is Panasonic. It orginated in Japan. A few years later they changed to Panasonic. ABBA was chosen to do a commercial for them. It is to the tune of Fernando.

    This Panasonic is not only a beautiful piece of furniture but also all the access is on the top of the console. Well designed. I sure miss those console days of the 50's & 60's.

      My understanding is most of these in the US were purchased at the PX's in Vietnam and brought back to the USA. You can still find them if you watch craigslist/offerup, etc.

    AUX input for the win- Bluetooth and/or CD player plug and go. Amazing fully functional audio system ~55 years old.

    I never knew anyone made a console with a BSR 810 turntable in it!

    • @phazerbrains
      @phazerbrains  3 роки тому +1

      The 810 is a great table, don't be fooled by the BSR label. 7lb platter and sounds comparable to my Dual 1019. They can still be found at a good bargain price.

    • @Meridian83West
      @Meridian83West 3 роки тому +1

      @@phazerbrains Oh yeah, although people associate BSR with their low end changers in budget stereos, they were capable of making quality products. The 810 and the 710 (which didn't have the pitch control) more than held their own with the German-built Dual and Miracord turntables of the day. And people forget that BSR made the Accutrac (under their ADC brand) which was a very fine direct-drive table even without the automation.

    • @phazerbrains
      @phazerbrains  3 роки тому +1

      @@Meridian83West I agree. However, the 710 does have pitch control. The only difference between the 710 and 810 is the arm. (I have repaired both models). Furthermore, Miracord built the mechanisms in the 710/810 under contract, BSR only built the tonearms.

    • @Meridian83West
      @Meridian83West 3 роки тому +2

      @@phazerbrains Thanks for the correction. I thought I'd heard BSR contracted the mechanism to Miracord.

    • @paulbennell3313
      @paulbennell3313 Рік тому

      BSR made several decent decks but they weren't taken seriously because BSR made them. It's a shame but that's brand identity for you.

    • @phazerbrains

      The cellphone video doesn't even do it justice. The unique thing about this console is that each side is a completely sealed 3-way speaker. So it sounds like a component system instead of a console, and also has very punchy bass projection.

    Recommend:
    Change the wooden floor to a same color as your Panasonic consol.
    Add 3 little pictures frame same color dark brown and bronze border, they can show advertising of this device.
    Put a bronze hornament on consol when it closed. Walls in sand-light brown tone will look nice, modern and warm. Add a foot-lamp by side un bronze finishing too.

    what kinds of speakers does it have ? u looked inside the unit ! do you know much power it puts out watts per channel ? i almost forgot panasonic made these big cabinet stereos!!

    • @phazerbrains
      @phazerbrains  3 роки тому +1

      I have since sold this one, and I forget the wattage per channel, but it can go quite loud, more than most consoles. There are the typical 3 driver setup per speaker with passive crossovers. The really nice thing about this particular console is the speakers are sealed, so it has incredible tight punchy bass and strong projected sound - different than most consoles with open back speakers. Rock music sounds particularly good on this console.

    I have this same console...it is amazing quality !!! Mine is fully working as well....however....the turntable is slightly different. When I finish playing an album tho the tonearm returns to roughly the middle of the album 33....like it is playing a 45.....not sure why this is or how I fix this.

    • @phazerbrains
      @phazerbrains  4 роки тому

      On this one I swapped out the original turntable for this one which is much nicer. The one that came with these is not very good and tracks very heavy - not good for your records. Most any BSR or Garrard changer will fit in there pretty easily.
