- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- Overnight trip. I take a traditional wooden boat down river, find a location and start building a lean-to shelter from natural materials - no rope or nails. Open the full video description for more information.
This is par 1. All episodes can you see here • Bushcraft trip - shelt...
----------------------------
Date: 10-09-2019 to 11-09-2019
Day: 10°C (50°F)
Night: 8°C (46,4°F)
Location: Sapmi - the land of the Sami people in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. Clean and remote classic northern wilderness. Fresh water rivers. Pine, spruce and birch forrest. Mountains, bears, wolves, eagles, reindeers etc. No wildlife is giving campers problems. I can't give you any information about my location, only that I am somewhere in Sapmi. You need to be the owner or get the owners permission if you want to do the same.
Consuming: Water (meltwater) and spruce tea (hot and cold). Meat (pig) with salt or spruce/pine campfire smoke as spices.

A few questions:
1. Why do the meat have that color/surface?
It is just raw meat that I did hang outside in the wind one day before the trip - the wind dries the surface and gives it that color.
2. Is the water safe to drink?
Yes. Almost all water in Sapmi can you drink straight from the source. All can do it and a lot do.
3. Why the roof extension?
Extra protection against rain/snow.
4. Is the shelter waterproof?
No. You need to add birch bark or other waterproof material before it becomes truly waterproof. Moss is not water proof - but a lot of moss and poles close together and a steep angle on the roof, will provide some shelter from rain.
5. What did damage the birch tree next to the boat?
Beavers. A lot of beaver activity in the area.
6. What is the white plants on the ground?
Moss. I know it as "Reindeer moss".

I watch your videos at night before I go to sleep. They are SO relaxing! Beautiful scenery, sounds, and bushcraft living. Just what the doctor ordered! Thank you for such wonderful videos!
Same hereee !
i tought i was the only one xD
hahaha.. yes, i agree
Same here
Me tooo!!!!! :D
Still amazed at all the camera angles and shots you do!!! AMAZING
Yeah, agreed. A simple viewer will just see a man camping. A careful onlooker can easily realize how much effort he invests not only in the entire camping journey, but also the concurrent camera work.
The guy is amazing agreed.
Just the boat scene would have taken 4 trips to position, leave, recover & reposition the camera in two section of river, eat your heart out Tarantino ;)
I'm here because of his shot
You are the true bush craft guy. Not testing free equipment. Not bringing any extras. Love every single video. You rock
Watching you in your adventures is liking watching how our ancient ancestors must have lived and endured. You are a very fascinating fellow Rune. You are living the dreams we men had as kids and forgot as we got older but wish we had back. I'm very glad that you're making these video's. Thank you so much.
Hey! Don't exclude me. It's not just men that had those dreams. :-) but you're right he's as awesome as they come.
@@cleoharper1842 fr. even as a little kid i've always wanted to play outdoors and build. but hey, being stuck in a city isn't the best place to do those things
Imagine how long it took to set up the camera and them come back to get it, pure work of patience right there. Respect
Drone?
The Man that Always has a content smile on his face. Huge fan right here!
Totaly agree:)
That is one of the first things I notice in his videos and it makes me happy.

When Rune's notification comes out...my work STOPS.
Likewise
Same here
No drama no acting only talent and skills something can learn.. Love it
I can't stop thinking about all the extra work on placing the camera where he wants it, then travel back with the boat to take the shot, then place it again, take the shot, go back to pick up the camera... All the unseen work that you put into these videos make them so special to watch!
Rune you are a legend! Blown away by your craftsmanship from the homemade tools to the amazing shelters you make! Also your kickass filming skills, I know how long it takes to set up shots, and your videos teach me to be more patient to get way better shots! Thanks for sharing your great productions sir!
I am most envious that Bertram has figured out how to make a living by simply living and documenting it. We see his incredible traditional/primitive woodsman, smith, and fisherman skills in each of his peaceful, calm videos. Each one contains multiple angles, different camera placements and techniques, good use of all available lighting, and considerable thought given to framing each shot to best illustrate what he is doing, and wordlessly tell the story. Then there is the editing and audio so that it all sounds right, and flows smoothly. I think he is in the enviable position that he has the skills of both worlds, and could successfully move between them as he chooses, or live entirely in one if circumstances or choice so moves him. I think I would have his permanent grin too if I were in his shoes! Congratulations on the well deserved growth of the Chanel!
Well said Sean, i noticed his permanent grin as well. When you do what you love, it becomes an art.
But he quit?
Wonderful videos. Peaceful. Raw. I love them.
Beautiful!!! Your videos soothe my soul.
Thank you!
hmm... Lis... do you have family in poland? in poland : Lis = Fox
I love you
BINIAŚ ahhhh, does it? I like that. No, Lis in my language is another spelling for Lee.
Ilove
The way you move slowly and take everything easy is so satisfying to watch!
I like hows hes not talking. It adds to it when you just listen to the forest as he works. The camera work is spectacular as well
Some say he should talk in these videos I find tranquility in the fact that he doesnt, to me a Rune video is the equivalent of a Bob Ross painting come to life and sometimes the best emotions come from no words spoken! Great vids love what you do man!!
Admiro la disciplina Runa, un gran ejemplo.
Are there wolves and bears?
Is Norway worried about bears and wolves, too?
What animals did Norway fear in the past?
We were afraid of pigs, tigers, wolves, and bears.
I love that there are no words to your videos. Love hearing nature around you while you work. Always such a joy watching your videos.
Hello Rune! I could not tell if the white on the moss were flowers, or not, regardless of, it gave a treat to my eyes! Ur boat is a beauty!!! Thank u for this adventure Rune!
Thanks. I know it as "reindeer moss", on this location is where just a lot of it compared to the forrest I usually spend my time in :)
oh how i've missed your peaceful & creative adventures. are you taking a break from your metal & wood work? what do you think about when you're out there relaxing in front of your fires? i admire how you've mastered your environment & still the best in capturing the big picture of being resourceful, enjoying your life & sharing it with people like me-afraid of getting freezer burned out in the woods. Thanks a million Rune for allowing these moments into your world
Crossfire,
I understand what you mean by mastering environment. However I urge you to take what you can from what is shared in his masterpieces and try putting some part of it to use. The pay off is unbelievable i say. I have been an outdoorsman since childhood and I love what I have been able to apply from watching his stuff to my doings. Hope this comes across as friendly. Have a good day
Cross Fire
I have been on road trip abroad for the last two months or so - limited what I could bring along in the car... so most of my blacksmithing and wood working tools stayed home. I am still abroad, but have borrowed a cabin for the next 3 months and will soon travel to Denmark to get my tools and when back to Sapmi start making the how to blacksmithing videos next to the cabin. I am missing my propper tools :) Next to the campfire do I usually plan future projects, but also just sometimes think of absolutely nothing :)
@@BertramCraftAndWilderness i have been mia to the world-missing my artisan craftmaking & totally understand the limited space thing when traveling. i, too brainstorm among natural beauty & have that familiar smile of satisfaction & absolute freedom to do the impossible. Denmark is my cup of tea! so lovely! can't wait for more blacksmithing & bon fires!
I can imagine my Scandinavian iron age ancestors living like this. Thank you Rune for this amazing video.
This was nature documentary levels of photography.
Insanely beautiful and relaxing to watch.
Awesome work!
i wish there was something in my life that could put the same perpetual smile on my face that you have in all your videos
Smiling releases endorphins. Just the act of smiling will create a pleasurable feeling which inspires more smiling. Practice the pleasurable art of smiling.🙂
By far the best bushcraft videos on UA-cam. Thank you
That camera angles around the river 😍 boat down the river, stop, go back upwards, take camera, go downward, boat again... Repeat
This is just amazing - I love the silence that let the nature speak for itself (and of course the sounds of Rune messing around) ;-)
A gentleman remains a gentleman even if he is put alone in the woods.
Rune's smile on face makes me watch more and more videos...

Hi from northern Japan. Thank you for this "ancient paradigm of self-isolation"...Perhaps it will serve in the future, as well ; )
Bertran, I was thinking: "Bertran think that we can be without watching his videos for more than a week?" and then you suddenly appear... Thank you so much!! I guess I'm not going out tonight...
I really like your style to combinate ancient skills and living with modern technology to share your experiences with us.
Thank you!
This is the best work with the camera and skills in the craft that I saw, words can not describe how nice it is to watch your videos

I adore your videos because of this I got up at 5 in the morning to watch it before school
Неужели еще есть реки из которых можно просто так пить воду? А вообще замечательное видео, ощущение такое, словно на машине времени перенесся в недалекое будущее человечества! :-)
Hi Bertrand. A new gift from you: a new video. Thank you for share that beautiful places and show your way of life. I have read something from you in your website, amazing! Thank you one more time. Gretings from Spain
Ein wahrer Nachfahre der Nordmänner!👍👍👍
Freaking hit the nail on the head! Great work brother!
Me and my friend feel such a great calm watching Bertrams clips, each time we bring up the conversation about him, we always laugh in pure joy and love of the silent smile that is upon his face when he is in peace and fulfillment of nature, the camp & fire bring to his senses! You are great!! 24:37
You build the most amazing shelters , very resourceful, I have a lot of respect for you, great video
Quiet and wild makes me feel physically and mentally balanced. Thank you from Taiwan

Love the boat! always wanted to build a lapstrake -nice video 👍
Me too!
And you can see his one is built with broad and thin planks. With a simple design you could construct a light and beautiful boat.
A Winter Project, perhaps?
There's a great programme showing how these were built in Ireland:

Sounds like a good winter time series for your channel Doug!
Build yourself one. I know you can do it Doug! ATB André
Ones again the most beautiful videos on UA-cam!!!
Thank you for putting this together. Very interesting, relaxing, and we learned a lot from you.
thanks, man... i listen to you camp while i'm working and you bring calm to my day.
YOUR BOAT CAN BE A QUICK SHELTER IF THE RAIN COMES.
I have to say, I stay current with all the bush craft channels. this one by far is the best out there. I your content and respect all that you do.
Great video! I always love the quality and the Zen side to your videos!
By far the most beautiful videos on UA-cam
All the best from Berlin/Germany🤙🏻
I wish my karaoke singers would handle my microphones as gently as Rune handles his belongings. I love this channel. You can learn in silence and amazement!!
всегда манил меня лес, в детстве часто уходил с друзьями на недельку другую, жаль что тетерь время не то
Healing sounds... Healing landscapes... Superb Rune's productions!!!
Breaking through to the other side of peace and quiet on the heavenly astonishing wonderland it's a magic place to be and say I say none then only majesty rune monarch of this kingdom
I watch u all the time😊
The best outdoor Bushcraft channel in the world!
My father-in-law and I watched your channel while he was recovering from surgery. He is an honest man, a Craftsman, and has worked all his life. He is now deaf and was able to embrace your videos wonderfully. Very much appreciated Rune.
love the shelter bro! Your camera work makes everything so much better! I can learn a lot from you when it comes to making videos.
The best bushcraft on the internet !!
Im from Indonesia.. respect for your skill..beatifule forest 😅👌
Nice Rune! Love your solution to begin the lean to without rope. The expanding of the Roof also is so nice n simple. Thank you fot your inspiration👨🌾
*I've missed you Rune!*
One Man easy Tools Very Inspiration! Amazing! Roland from Stendal
I'm always amazed at how much effort you put into these angles and distant shots. It's one thing to do this on land but on a moving river is much more time consuming. Also love the deliberation and precision in almost every scene. I'm sure you screw up (that's why we have editing) but what we see is a masterpiece. Great job with another incredible video. This is easily one of the best bushcraft/adventure channels on UA-cam. Also, loving the new landscape. Is that Norway?
Thank you. The location is always listed in the video description.
You're welcome!
Hola!!!un saludo desde ARGENTINA siempre miro tus videos!!!!!!
Anyone else think this guy looks like Liam Neeson in Star Wars?
magnetospin I have always said that!!
Yes now I got who is he
YES! No lightsaber but Rune's got the Ax!
What I was thinking was we had the same haircut. And he looks a lot like my dad (when my dad was young).
This guy looks hunky & manly.. & he can cook! ❤️
it's good to see that there is more than modern society! Nature is bringing you the inner peace
I love all you vid greeting from Florida
You’re videos are beautifully filmed and are a great source of escapism
Classic Runecraft! 14:15 meat on da tree! Luvin life Runestyle!
Love his unhurried and deliberate pace. Looks like a good way to destress from the hurried pace of today's world.
finally he started to put some seasoning on his food!
This is a REAL bushcrafter👍👍👍👍👍👍
i love his face , he is always "half smiling"
I love his dirty hands too. Maybe a little too much for a woman my age!
He is beautiful in his way of transforming what is natural to live happily in the wild.
@the way no he isn't. But he certainly IS naturally high. Respect!
I love camping while fishing. In recent years, there are many camps that rely on tools. Your video is very meaningful because it expresses the natural touch of nature. My life will change as I know you. I love it very much from Japan!
something very therapeutic watching him saw trees down
Just discovered ur channel. All I can say is fantastic, the silence is deafening.....
Zombie apocalypse? I'm going to Runes house!
This is my favorite channel! I check it every night to see if there is a new video. It puts my mind at ease after a long nightshift
It’s like… “New video out, drop everything and watch” before life can continue.
Stunningly beautiful. Gave me peace after a hard week of work. Thnx and many cheers from Austria.
