    For the kid that said "They're not even putting it out, they're just standing there": Firefighters don't just turn up and rush it, since it's a warehouse they've got to determine the cause of the fire. If it's a chemical that is resistant to water it'd be a suicide mission going insine.

    • @aussiefirie
      @aussiefirie 7 років тому +1

      Matthew Owen you mean I was doing it all wrong for 16 years? Investigating the cause of the fire is done after it is extinguished, finding out what is inside the warehouse is done during the extinguishing of the fire and putting water on the fire to extinguish the fire is done as soon as possible so other exposures aren't damaged or destroyed by the fire.

      Dude, they don't even have SCBA on or anything their just lazy look at any American firefighting and we have all the guys in SCBA and fighting the fire or ready to if called up by command.

      @@aussiefirie yeah you were doing it wrong for 16 years, there's lots of things that react badly with water, certain chemicals, certain metals. You can't just spew water all over a warehouse fire like that without determining what is burning

    I adore the fire service but I find it odd that firefighters complain about pay yet the chiefs are driving expensive fricken cars like mercs and BMW's.

      Like most workplaces there is a massive divide between management and its workers.

      LifeOfAnEnglishman leased with part of the cost being borne by the officer leasing the vehicle, there is a minimum value for the lease and anything above that is paid for by the officer out of their wages.

    • @coover65
      @coover65 6 років тому +5

      How odd. In Queensland if you're expected to attend an incident as a manager, you do it in a service supplied vehicle. Having poorly marked vehicles could be construed as a WHS issue (not being visible enough as per emergency vehicle standards). Same with the ambulance. Op. supervisors either respond while on shift, or after hours take a marked vehicle to take home for on call jobs.

      @@coover65they used to have fully market work cars but to save money the command and control element have blue lights filled to their personal vehicles

    • @ultra_vires
      @ultra_vires 5 років тому +1

      @Noisyme 02 Those were fire officer cars, not police. The police only have unmarked cars for operational reasons; as in not wishing to be seen. Fire officer cars are unmarked because they're often used as private cars and for non-response work. The cost of marking them up isn't proportionate for the amount of blue light driving they actually do.

    Hi there. Is anyone aware of any footage in existence, of a warehouse fir in1a, Rutland Road, Twickenham, in February, 1984 in which the warehouse was totally destroyed by fire. I am interested as that property adjoins my home, which was severely water damaged In the incident. Any info gratefully accepted.

      Yes they are personal cars, the LFB do supply vehicles but these are bright red (obviously) and can't be used to personal vehicles so thats why the chiefs get to install lights and sirens on their own cars, and of course this will assist with a fast response time as they can travel from wherever they are without the need to collect a vehicle first!
