  • In this vlog I am going to share 7 things that I have learned about Vietnam after being here for 1 month. #7 is the craziest one!
Coming from America, this place has been a huge culture shock for me and I am still getting used to it. Every single day there is still something happening that I have never experienced before and this makes it exciting, yet difficult to really get a grip on how things out here. Just when I think I have something figured out someone will point out I'm doing it the wrong way or saying something the wrong way.
Wither way coming to Vietnam has opened my eyes to the fact that this world has endless opportunities for those who leave their home town and take a risk in life.
Let me know what else you want to see or know about here in Vietnam!

In my opinion, there's nothing that's absolutely perfect, because after all, it's just a standard set by humans. If you feel happy with the present, stay and contribute to building the community. If you're not happy, seek a new environment, and if the new environment makes you more miserable, keep moving or perhaps consider returning to the initial one.
In terms of development, Vietnam has lagged behind for many years compared to the global standard. But that can also be an advantage. From my personal perspective, a good country is one where its people feel safe and happy. It doesn't necessarily have to lead economically, nor does it need extravagant 'concrete and steel forests' or luxurious brands to assert its position.

I agree completely with you. I would actually prefer to have a country with more greenery and wildlife with access to modern day amenaties and it's people being happy than be in a country surrounded with concrete jungles and the people are robots so caguht up in the hustle of job and money. This is how it is where I come from. Thank you for your thoughts and support on the channel!

"Everybody respects everybody/ The young ones respect the older ones." Agree. You see the stick @ 02:18 ? Coz parents here are not afraid to discipline their children unlike in the West.

Great tips! Especially about the language situation. Here's my own tip: if you look like you might come from an English-speaking country, don't be surprised if young Vietnamese approach you... they're not up to anything bad or have any ill intent, they probably just want to practice English. Until you get some basic Vietnamese down, an Expat community can be a great help too... or if you speak any 2nd language such as Russian(!) you'll find expat foreigners who might also speak both English and Vietnamese if they've lived in country for a while, to tag along with, an English-Vietnamese speaking friend will be invaluable in the beginning. Yes, forget Google Translate 🙂

You are spot on! I had someone from America with me who spoke Vietnamese and it makes the world of difference. And on people approaching me you are also right on. I still have a hard time with having my guard up immediately just out of instinct. I have to constantly remind myself that I stick out like a soar thumb and people are just genuinely curious and not malicious for the most part.

We have tap water but they are as not clean as the west to drink, so that's why people don't drink tap water here

Thank you so much! And Final Cut Pro is a mac apple program so if you have an apple computer or laptop you can get that app. But if you don't have an apple mac computer or laptop there are a lot of really good other editing softwares out there. I would youtube top 10 best free editing softwares on youtube and choose the best one for your specific situation.
And no you having an android phone does not matter as long as you can film content! @@eileenstill
