Click on Viewport Overlays (It's the icon with 2 circles that's near the viewport shading ones) and there in geometry you activate Wireframe, there you can modify the opacity aswell. Cheers!
this same method should for the most part work well for animals / furry models since the topology is not specific to a humanoid, some things obviously change like the nose placement, head shape, mouth shape, etc.
