Seo Taji asking them to perform with him at his 25th anniversary concert really was like him passing the torch to BTS, which is SUCH an honor! This was such a special concert!
I hope you will check out the other performances from this concert with BTS or even watch the whole concert, it's such a fun concert to watch. I believe BTS performed like 7 songs with him. Yes, Seo Taiji is 50 now and he was 45 in this performance. One of Seo Taiji's songs was actually in the 90's movie 3 Ninjas Kick Back (he performs it with RM and Suga during this concert). I watched this concert for the first time last year and I knew I recognized one of the songs. Who knew I was exposed to kpop for the first time as a young kid in the US during the 90's.
Seo Taiji was the first to incorporate rap and a real emphasis on dance performances and songs with social commentary. He broke down barriers and paved the way for present day K-Pop and of course BTS.
He changed the whole Korean music history. He was our BTS at that time. We have bts today because he was there before. He is the president of korean music.
Great choice! This was Seo Taiji's 25th anniversary concert (father of KPop) in 2017. He never seems to ages💜 He was 45 at the time of this concert. You need to watch the entire concert so you can see the rest of the guys. It seemed like he was passing his mantle to BTS.
That concert is a MUST!!!!!! Read many comments, some of them said that the choreo was similar as the original band video from many years ago (20 years ago or so!!!) there is also a video on the backstage of the concert... really cuteeeeee, and BTS rendition on Come back home...... a song from Taeji.... Enjoy!!!!!!
Taeji is a songwriter who writes all songs(+lyrics) for his album. Although he had debuted as a dance group with other two members, his origin is more like rock-based. He was the youngest base guitarist of the greatest Korean rock band before his debut. And since his debut as Taeji boys, he was a sensational of K-pop in 90’s. Taeji is a pioneer and it is really meaningful to have him and BTS on stage together!
Before the emergence of Seo Taiji in the 90s, the Korean music industry was completely disconnected from the present to the point where there was almost no connection. Then, with the emergence of Seo Taiji in the 1990s, and the emergence of several great artists one after another, the K-pop we know was finally born.
Seo Taiji was 45 years old at this concert! Same age JK’s Dad! (He’s a legend…young forever!) You should watch his entire 25th anniversary concert! It’s on his UA-cam channel! It’s awesome.
Guess it can be googled and see his year of birth 😉if it's such a debate.. For the concert, thanks I didn't know, didn't of looking it up to his UA-cam
@@alifc1082 he was burn in 21.02.1972. 25th anniversary concert was in september, so he was 45,7 years old. Seo TajJi is a legend from the early 90’s in SK and he is like BTS’s parents age and told them to call him dad which they do! Seo TaiJi told his fans during this concert to support BTS because he believes they are they next big hit for this generation and he was right! Seo TaiJi also wrote a song for IU and they performed live on MAMA 2014 and love this song! You should check it out to see how diverse and genius he is!
SEO TAIJI is pronounced SUH TAE JEE. he is the pioneer of k-pop, bringing rap, heavy metal, to Korea in the early 90s. He is in his 50s now. You should watch the rest of the concert. I sent you a link in one of your other videos. SeoTaiji is a heavy metal guy for sure
Thanks so much for adding the pronunciation. I always think the transliteration for Hangul is sometimes awful - eo being one of the worst. It's not easy to be precise with defining a short "O" in romanised letters though - I tend to describe it as "o" and in an English accent "on" or "from" as opposed to low or flow, but that can fall into a trough of confusion in an American mouth! 😂. If you bear in mind that Seoul is made up of eo and oo,(and actually should be pronounced with two vowels, maybe that can help ... but it's just one of my niggles, sorry
Watching people watch this concert makes me so happy, it’s like getting the surprise, the joy, the awesomeness of seeing it the first time. The whole concert is well worth watching. And the rehearsal video, our boys so excited, and Seo Taiji having fun with them, just happiness all around.
Seo Taiji was 45 years old at the time of this performance, but he looks like 18!! He sure could move and dance!! He’s 50 today. Love this performance so much!👍🏼👏🏼🫶🏼

That collaboration is epic, but you still need to react to the best song, for my taste, from that concert, "Classroom idea". It is surely my favorite for my many years as a faithful follower of heavy metal music and I assure you that it does not disappoint.
Hi John! The instrument you were wondering about in the last song is the taepyeongso (태평소) and it's a traditional Korean double reed instrument. As someone else mentioned, it was also used in Daechwita music. I'm an instrument nerd haha I hope you find this helpful :D
Per google, he's 50'! Thanks for finding this, I have missed this one in BTS journey. So cool, great singing and of coursel dancing! If Seo Tajii can still do this at 50, so can BTS!!💜
Wasn't this whole thing such a vibe? I had no idea it existed, like no one suggested it nor did I see it anywhere or hear about it in my BTS journey for the longest time. Somehow it just randomly showed up in the UA-cam suggestions and I very nearly didn't click on it because I had no idea what it was. It was such a fun concert to watch! Loved it!! Such a great reaction from you, too!!
I never in a million years thought I’d hear John talking about In Living Color! 😂 That show was my absolute fave in the 90’s! But I 100% see what you mean! It definitely gives me 90’s nostalgia. Seo Taji is incredibly talented and versatile, like BTS…can do every genre and do it really well. Hope you’ll watch the other performances from this concert (especially Come Back Home!) because you’ll love all of it!
Bahahaha yes!! Seriously I have such a weird sense of humor because I grew up with me and my dad watching that! I’d go around wackin people with a sock sayin “homie don’t play that” at like 4-5 😂 I for sure am going to check out more of this concert! Seemed so epic!!
John Reaves - So glad to see you enjoy this concert.......As you see from previous comments, this is the man who is thought to be one of the creators of K-pop. He's had his own following that don't look over look around for over a decade. John it's really worth your time to spend watching the whole concert performance..... I'm sure you'll find yourself both exhausted and invigorated at the same time. In this video was just a brief introduction to the amazing band that backs the artists. They truly are phenomenal in their own right! I'd love to see your response to another video from this concert with BTS. I'm sure you'll be just as impressed!
I definitely need to know what this dude eats breathes and sleeps to look this young!! I don’t know what is more exciting this performance or Johns reaction!!!
I’d forgotten about this collaboration and had not seen this performance (I’d seen some of the other parts of this Seo Taiji Concert. Yay for all the people giving you great recommendations. 💜
The whole 2.5 hour concert is on Seo Taiji's channel at ua-cam.com/video/yU6h08srHt8/v-deo.html. The best part is watching RM & Suga as backup dancers. 🙂 If you read a little of the history of Kpop & Seo Taiji you'll have a real appreciation for the crowd & how excited they were to be at this concert. Very meaningul.
Seo Taiji and The Boys are considered the pioneers of Kpop. In Korea Seo Taiji is called Cultural President. That concert was in 2017 celebrating the 25th anniversary of Seo Taiji and the boys' debut; he invited some artists to share the stage with him in 2 songs each. Months before, as a tribute, BTS made a cover of one of their songs, which earned them to be invited and participate in 8 songs. The good interaction between them and how well Seo Taiji expressed himself about BTS, was seen as the postage pass as kpop icons (and it was fulfilled). I share some links: Cover by Class Idea (The cover made at the end of 2016) -which by the way has a message similar to the one given by BTS in No More Dream and N.O.- ua-cam.com/video/YvjJwk1YrUI/v-deo.html All participation in the concert ua-cam.com/video/cOlb_mQZFrU/v-deo.html BTS version of Come Back Home live (2018) ua-cam.com/video/6dYxgPGfjkg/v-deo.html
8:08 In original track, legendary heavy metal singer - kim jong seo sang that back corus.(and this either! 9:42 ) kim and seo taiji had got along with together in metal band 'si na wi' . that's it. seo taiji played bass in the metal band.
BTW, the t-shirt Seo Taiji is wearing is a mash up of President Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. Let that sink in for a sec. He's been doing heavy political commentary for 40 years and it's one of the reasons he was so impressed by BTS.
Wow I was just about to lay down because I wasn't feel great and saw this. Yes seo taiji in this concert is almost 50 if you can believe that. He is one if not the pioneers ok kpop especially being outspoken about social injustices . Seo taiji were only around for 4 years or so in the 00s but that didn't stop them gain a huge following and becoming well respected in the industry. My favorite of the concert ( which i did watch last Christmas day and I was blown away) is come back home. It has an amazing message and actually a lot of the run aways did come back home. He also passes the torch to BTS during this concert which again is amazing. Thanks for this surprise reaction I loved it.
I knew who he was but hadn't listened to any of his music. Then sometime last year I stumbled upon his Time Traveler concert and since BTS was in it, I watched it. Now I wish I could time travel back to 2017 to see it in person! As others have said, watch the whole concert. It is definitely worth it. My favorite is Classroom Idea ( which the guys did a cover of.) It makes me want to see BTS experiment with a hard rock sound. You'll love the guitar in it!
Love this collab with BTS. I’m totally a rock/metal fan and feel I really missed out not knowing about Seo Taiji in the 90’s. BTS really rocked it! I wish BTS would do more metal/rock songs . V was great-he looked so inspired.
the boys are half Seo's age during this concert. The fact that he chose BTS over other KPOP groups says how he recognizes the boys as his successor. BTS calling him abeoji (father) is next level
Who can tell BTS to be background dancers, vocals and rappers? "Hey~ J hope and Jimin ~~ dance behind me on my 25th anniversary concert." only Seo Tai ji can. Mutual respects.
This mam is the reason kpop exists. Seo taiji being the icon that he is, also named bts his successors, telling them its your generation now. Bts musical themes in songs like no more dream is the modern version of what seo taiji did during his time in songs like classroom idea. Bts are the perfect musical successors to seo taiji.
I love this concert - thank you for viewing and reacting to the video. This is the concert where Seo Taiji passed the baton to BTS as they are continuing Seo Taiji's legacy of creating socially-relevant and inspiring music.
I think he doesn’t even realize it was Jungkook when JK was dancing solo sooooooo good. Seo tae ji is our Korean’s legend and also the instrument the guy played was Korean traditional instruments. Bts respct him so much and inspired by Seo Tae Ji.
The full version of this show with them all is so freaking epic…SUCH a mood ❤️🔥❤️🔥 The rock sound suits them all so well and nothing beats the long black coats 😍 you HAVE to watch it!, The guys were so amazed by all the guys in the audience lol
Love this concert! The whole BTS team were part of this concert. It’s really amazing! He kind of passed the baton to them. And damn- in living color! The wayan brothers! 😂 yeah, Jlo was a dancer but I think she was bullied then. Look at her now! 💜
I love In Living Color! Yes, Jennifer Lopez was one of the original Fly Girls. I hadn't seen this part of the concert, but, I've seen other clips & they are fantastic! Loved this one too! Oh, I remembered a band that I used to listen to in the 80s....don't know if you know them, but they're a Japanese metal band, Loudness. Pretty good band. Thanks for this reaction! 💜
That was his band 25th anniversary. Taiji was like JK, the maknae of the band. I watched an old video and, it's awesome, BTS is dancing like the backdancers did in the past!!! They have a lot more of performances together in this concert... Comeback Home here is legendary!!! Please, react to more!!
to be honest, at first, I only planned to watch the performances where Seo Taiji was with the boys....but after a while I got really into his songs and was impressed with how he performs! I mean he's like BTS himself! he can dance, sing, rap, play guitar and groooowl!! I ended up watching his 2 hours+ concert in full! he's amazing, and it this age??!! c'mon! you'll be mesmerized with how good his vocals are when he sings his melodic songs / love songs, then get hyped with his rap songs and THEN get blown away when he performs his face melting metal / rock songs!!! like I've never seen such a diverse artist like him other than BTS! so I really do think that he is THE GODFATHER of KPOP, I mean if he were the same age as the current Kpop groups, I would even dare to say that he would be at par with BTS in terms of talent, musicality, fanbase and stage presence. Aaaaaaand just like BTS, his songs are also very deep with lots of realism against socio economic situations and messages of loving yourself and standing up against oppression. So yeah, hope you react to the other performances with BTS and maybe even watch the whole concert at your own time :)
I'm not joking, when Seo Taiji and Boys were active, there were no fans fighting or power struggles in Korea. Because everyone in the country is their fan. I really said it without any exaggeration. Does it kill you even now? But imagine hearing that 25 years ago.
I love the whole thing ❤ and I can’t stop watching them… the collaborations between BTS and Soiji was awesome ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
You have to watch the rest of this concert, especially the other parts with BTS! I spent a really unholy amount of money to buy the DVDs off of Ebay... but no regrets. It's amazing! 😄
Yes! In Living Color! And the dancers were called The Fly Girls. Yeah, I was surprised to learn that Jennifer Lopez was a Fly Girl back in the day also. LOVE that BTS did metal!!!!
Seo Taeji = rhymes with “go edgy”. 💜. Please do more from this concert. At the end of the song with JK & V, was that dude playing a Daechwita horn?? Some kind of traditional horn. 🤯
Sooo fun, never saw this, just "come back home"... Everyone was great, on scene and the audience, but I whoul mention V for his wish to rap and finnaly done so, and for that dance, so much effort hard to see from V :)))
Seo Taiji is like 50 yrs old and he literally started kpop 30yrs ago… i mean LITERALLY. He started it all. And here by asking BTS to join him in his 25th anniversary concert… he basically pass the torch to BTS. 💜🥹✊🏼
I'd watch the full concert with you on patreon! I've been wanting to watch the full concert for a while but it's so much more fun to watch it as a group!
Ok I will go on patreon and request but I think you missed two parts, my favorite….they did come back home, both with seo taiji (and on their own separately)and they are both amazing. Plus classroom idea is THE ONE…THE ONE THATS MEANT FOR YOU, also from this concert. Please go back and watch those two 💜💜💜
Oh, loved it!!!! The boys gave their best! They were so proud and nervous to perform with Taiji (The legend) and infront of soo many people, hahaha. They said they wish to have this so many people at their concerts and it sureley came true. Loved Jimin dancing street dance. He is fabulous. And Hobi is spectacular. Yes, I am almost 50 and this is the kind of pop songs we listened to.
There is a UA-cam abt SeoTaiji practicing with Bangtan for this concert...and yes...he is in his late 40s at this time...and he so enjoyed learning the choreo wt the boys that SEO Taiji said he thanked them for making him feel young again....so sweet!...then u see them preform and your jaws drop!!
This would have been the most amazing concert to be at. That band is amazing!! And BTS was incredible!! I have since put several of Taji's songs on my Spotify. Just amazing 👏 👏👏👏👏👏
Before becoming an idol, seo was the bas guitarist of a metal band, which was one of the legendary in korean rock history. When he started as an idol, he couldn't put that influence right out to the audience. But later, because he was so famous and influential(even called as 'the president of culture'), he openly put metal sounds in his music. Experimental songs came out(hybrid of metal, traditional korean music, hiphop Etc.)
JOHN!!! Thank you! The opening beat of the first song you reacted to reminded me of Will Smith Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song. Even Soe Taiji cadence at the beginning reminded me of Will’s rapping. 😂 I loved it. Knowing you liked metal I have been wanting you to react to this concert since you started your BTS journey. I had been asking in chat & DMs for you to react to it. It took me changing to top tier and getting my request in before anyone else got their requests in for you to finally react to at least some of it. 😂 I let out a big laugh when you said WHAT? when Seo Taiji did the metal scream. I was waiting for you to hear it because I knew you would be shook. I know you’re time is limited but I really hope you get a chance to react to the other songs the guys are in or even the entire concert. Even if you can’t do a reaction you should still watch it. It’s an outstanding concert. There are other things in the concert I think will also surprise you but I don’t want to give you any spoilers. It’s just so good. If you go to Seo Taiji YT channel the entire concert is there but there are no subtitles. Enjoy BTS More only has the song that BTS performed with subtitles. Again thank you for reacting. I hope new ARMYs will enjoy it as much as I did when I discovered it in the beginning of 2018 about 6 months after it took place. I would have loved to see it in person. It made me realize BTS was not a typical Boy band but true masters of their craft and at such a young age. 😊 Borahae 💜🫰
I‘m a Korean born and raised in Europe and heard Seo Taiji and Boys when I visited the family in Korea in the early 90s! I think I was 11 back 😅then. For Korea they were the „backstreet boys“ but soooo much more advanced. I made sure to get every new album send overseas (albums: Seo Taiji and boys I-IV) and with every album they got crazier and wilder. It was like the perfect mix of pop, Beastie boys, Cypress Hill and rock music. They matched perfectly to my developing Grunge, Punk, Metal taste when I grew up in my teenage days. Yes, Seo Taiji is considered to be an absolute music legend.
Seo Taji asking them to perform with him at his 25th anniversary concert really was like him passing the torch to BTS, which is SUCH an honor! This was such a special concert!

V : "Taiji, Your have to show it here."
Taiji : “Me? No no, it’s you guys times. Show me!”
I haven’t seen these songs. Just the “Come Back Home” performance. Nice to see something new!
The whole concert is amazing. My favourite performance in the set is Come Back Home.💜
I share some links:
Cover by Class Idea (The cover made at the end of 2016) -which by the way has a message similar to the one given by BTS in No More Dream and N.O.-

8:08 In original track, legendary heavy metal singer - kim jong seo sang that back corus.(and this either! 9:42 ) kim and seo taiji had got along with together in metal band 'si na wi' . that's it. seo taiji played bass in the metal band.
That blew my mind!! So awesome!
BTW, the t-shirt Seo Taiji is wearing is a mash up of President Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. Let that sink in for a sec. He's been doing heavy political commentary for 40 years and it's one of the reasons he was so impressed by BTS.
Espero que reacciones al resto del concierto con los chicos. Aún te faltó la parte del rock que actuaron Suga y RM. Te recomiendo que lo veas completo
Good evening all :) that was a great suggestion!!
Right?!? How great!! 💜💜
@@JohnReavesLive lets watch more from this concert 😃 i only know the famous "you must come back home" 💜💜💜
John, great reaction! Please do the rest of this concert. There are many more surprises in store for you in this concert.
Come Back Home is amazing! Seo Taji is a legend and that concert is like he is passing the torch to BTS 💜
Others songs with BTS during his 25th anniversary concert ☺️ Sooooo gooood. And yessss he is a legend 🤩
Love this collab with BTS. I’m totally a rock/metal fan and feel I really missed out not knowing about Seo Taiji in the 90’s.
BTS really rocked it! I wish BTS would do more metal/rock songs . V was great-he looked so inspired.
Watch the performance of Come Back Home from this concert and then BTS's cover of that, and the live performance! Jin is epic!
the boys are half Seo's age during this concert. The fact that he chose BTS over other KPOP groups says how he recognizes the boys as his successor. BTS calling him abeoji (father) is next level
FOR SURE you need to see Come Back Home and Classroom Ideas!! Even more hype!!
Tell Roscoe about this. I think he would love it.
Yeeessss!!!! 💜💜💜💜 Please do the other performancesss ((my fav is Come Back Home)) but ALL is awesome!!!! You'll love it!!!! Thank youuu 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
The full version of this show with them all is so freaking epic…SUCH a mood ❤️🔥❤️🔥 The rock sound suits them all so well and nothing beats the long black coats 😍 you HAVE to watch it!,
The guys were so amazed by all the guys in the audience lol
Seo Taji & The Boys was 1997
In Living Colour dancers were called The Fly Girls
Love this concert! The whole BTS team were part of this concert. It’s really amazing! He kind of passed the baton to them.
And damn- in living color! The wayan brothers! 😂 yeah, Jlo was a dancer but I think she was bullied then. Look at her now! 💜
I love the opening number with jhope and jimin. Loved jimins voice here - perfect for that song
서태지 그는 한때 대한민국의 대통령이었습니다 문화 대통령 😆👍👏👏👏
The facet whit Seo Taijis of BTS is unic in this full concert thenks for the reaction
So impressive! This was an awesome collaboration. Never heard of Seo Taiji but so happy I saw this. Looks like a great show!!!!!
하여가는 일렉기타 연주하다가 태평소 연주는 지렸다... 얼마나 시대를 앞서간 퍼포먼스인가? 1993년도에 락메탈 댄스와 국악기 태평소 조합은 상상이상의 조합이었다.
this entire concert is on seo taji's youtube. would love to see you react to the entire show. youd love it
You have to watch the rest of this concert, especially the other parts with BTS! I spent a really unholy amount of money to buy the DVDs off of Ebay... but no regrets. It's amazing! 😄
John no tenía este video, gracias me voló la cabeza AA...
Yes! In Living Color! And the dancers were called The Fly Girls. Yeah, I was surprised to learn that Jennifer Lopez was a Fly Girl back in the day also. LOVE that BTS did metal!!!!
He is 50 years old, and a great entertainer!
Seo Taeji = rhymes with “go edgy”. 💜. Please do more from this concert. At the end of the song with JK & V, was that dude playing a Daechwita horn?? Some kind of traditional horn. 🤯
Like it alot! Good job! You can watch the whole concert on YT! 25th Anniversay of Seo Taiji and the Boys💜
This entire concert is 🔥🔥🔥! Thanks for the reaction!
💜🥹✊🏼
Yes! In Living Color! But this performance was awesome!💯🎶🎤
Damn. That was freaking amazing. Need to add that to my list. hell yeah!
This is the BEST. All excitement, energy
I'd watch the full concert with you on patreon! I've been wanting to watch the full concert for a while but it's so much more fun to watch it as a group!
J-Hope plays the role of YG and Jimin plays the role of Lee Joo-no.
Ok I will go on patreon and request but I think you missed two parts, my favorite….they did come back home, both with seo taiji (and on their own separately)and they are both amazing. Plus classroom idea is THE ONE…THE ONE THATS MEANT FOR YOU, also from this concert. Please go back and watch those two 💜💜💜
Agree, he needs to do these 2
Yes John, please do the whole concert!
In bits if you like, but there are other AWESOME tracks. 💜
legend meets legend
He is 50.....a legend
Love your reaction 😍😍😍😍
Seo Taiji is the god of music and the history of Korea!!
The performance marked Seo’s promise to come back and perform COME BACK HOME in 25 years. And he did it with BTS
I’m going to watch this whole freakin concert on the weekend! This is so good and BTS knocked it out of the park.
You need to react to Come back home in this concert… BTS have a solo cover but the version with the original is superb
My all time favorite performance from them together is Come back Home legit🔥
Seo taji love him. Seo taji started kpop..he is a legend..So glad you reacted to this. You said it right he is the god father.
I let out a big laugh when you said WHAT? when Seo Taiji did the metal scream.
Borahae 💜🫰
BTS cover of "Classroom Idea" is up your alley!💜
The moment bts work with seo taiji music and do rock style album… i’ll be dead happy 😂❤
There are more performances where this came from. Loving your reaction to metal BTS. Can’t wait to see you react to the rest of their performances.
The concert is called Seo Tai ji Time Traveller!
☄️☄️☄️☄️☄️🔥🔥🔥🔥Amazing video Amazing energy Amazing artist
Yes, Seo Taiji is considered to be an absolute music legend.
you need to see the other sets. your rock fanboy will be activated
