@05:14 you mentioned the GLC350e has less EV range, but it has an EPA estimate at 22 miles, 3 miles more than the Q5. The Mercedes may be down about 50hp, but it has about 140 lb-ft more of torque. I'd take the Mercedes because it overall has a better design inside and out. Also I believe MBUX is one of the best infotainment systems out maybe second to Android Automotive based systems.

Hey Alex, Why don't you try your hand at a video op-ed? Your comments on the lighting laws serve as inspiration for this idea. First show the examples of each, then go into why the U.S. should change its laws.
All cars should have adaptive cruise, blind spot warning, forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, all led lights. Should be a law by now. Safety should always be number one. Regardless if it’s luxury or not.
Audi underestimated their range to EPA. Not sure why. Had one as a loaner and full range was 33 miles. This is 14.1 kWh and Rav 4 is 18 but estimates 40 miles+
I don’t see the point of this and similar cars. I run a 2 litre diesel Skoda Superb in the UK. It averages (long term) somewhere above 50 mpg Imperial (41mpg US) on my 30 mile each way commute (mostly motorway/highway) and regularly achieves 60 mpg on a daily basis. This Q5 hybrid has no better fuel consumption than the 2005 A6 Avant 2.7 litre V6 diesel that I put more than 220.000 miles on before the Skoda. The Q5 hybrid costs more than £50,000 in the Uk...the similarly sized upcoming Skoda Enyaq 82kWh will start at under £40,000 and probably get me to my mother’s house and back (in summer) without recharging and without any tailpipe emissions.
“Because, of course, this is a plug in hybrid”. It could have DCFC if Audi wanted to add it. Even for a PHEV. The new X5 45e should have DCFC because it has a decent sized 24 kWh pack that should be able to accept at least 40 kW.
The only advantage I can see with this over the new RAV4 PHEV is the infotainment system. The practicality, cargo space, EV range, fuel efficiency, and price for a given trim level are all inferior compared to the RAV4 PHEV.
Motor control is more precise, faster acting, and smoother than mechanical control. As long as motors have enough power as compared to gas engine, electric drive is superior for off roading. Hummer EV?

Drove this today. Build quality is nice, the paint job is pretty ordinary for a car of this price, power is more than adequate. Really nice tight turning circle. Unfortunately, it shudders a little from a standing start and noise insulation is poor - it sounds like a metro bus when driving around side-streets and the electric motors are active, and there's plenty of road/wind noise that finds its way into the cabin at higher speeds. The transition from electric to ICE was seamless and smooth. Ride was not particularly wonderful on a bad road - although the one I drove did not have the adaptive suspension (you must order the $2200 "sports package" to get that, which also forces you to have a black interior (not my taste to sit in a dark cave, but some people like it) and also larger wheels, which may negate the benefit of the adaptive suspension anyway. The one I tested had no heads-up display and no auto-hold (apparently Audi doesn't believe in the latter, so none of their vehicles have it). No ventilated seats either. The sound system was OK, but nothing special. I am 6'2' and there was more than enough headroom, but I found the seats not very comfortable - the leather was low grade as well. I wanted very much to love it...but didn't. Oh, and BTW, the dealer told me there would be a 4-6 month lead time if I wanted to order one today: that's an outrageous amount of wait time!
So German vehicles now look non German while new Asian vehicles look German and sophisticated. Who'd have thought that few years back. Not a fan of that front grill. Looks very Hyundai ish.
This is the sportback version which is why the boot is smaller... Also it is NOT a crossover. Its built on the heavier chassis design for offroad. Crossovers are cars that are made to look like SUVs in some way but do not support offroad driving.
At 19 EV miles and 27 MPG with a starting price of $51,00 for the plug-in hybrid is a huge fail in 2020. Why bother offering a plug-in if you can only get 19 miles in EV? And I don't think that battery pack size qualifies for the full $7,500 Federal tax credit.
Because if you live 12 miles from work and charge for free there it gives you a few miles to run errands or go out to eat. Our 2018 CT6 2.0E plug-in gets 40 miles on battery alone so we go months without using gasoline and up to 3,000 miles on a tank of gas.
It’s not bad with below invoice pricing negotiated + the 6712 Fed tax credit, season of Audi and extra lease cash. Actually puts it in the low-mid 40s for prem and prem plus

Just need the nav package. After the google earth expires, still have the nav maps that displays in virtual cockpit. Wish they would allow CarPlay apps into dash but nice to put media info in instrument panel in place of map too
Ah, got it. Thanks to you both for the info!
@@bassandtrebleclef anytime. Also with this new MIB3 infotainment, it will allow for monthly OTA map updates vs. quarterly in the older MY18-20 Q5s
I don’t like the new infotainment I miss having physical buttons
They could’ve done better with the rims..
These are from MY18-20 SQ5s. Some of the 21 SQ5 wheels look pretty nice but $$
Ditched the stupid vertical grill accents 👍
i love your reviews.. but i get really tired of hearing Xc60 xc60 xc60.... Cheers!
Well it's the best in the segment atm so you need to compare against it
I guess there are people out there who by cars for gadgets and gizmos but not me. I'm not all that excited about the tech. I'm more interested about the mechanicals. I mean, I'm buying a car, not a video game.
27 MPG combined, you're having a laugh, wouldn't be much of a hybrid with those figures, check your facts mate
notes are fine you don't have to memorize everything
All you have done is confuse me, this is supposed to be a review of the Hybrid, but you speak so much about the none Hybrid I have lost track of what applies to what, how about you just speak about the car you are reviewing, if I want to know about a Rav 4 or the none Hybrid Q5 or Sq5 a Q8 or Q7 or damn Volvo I will watch a review on them!
New Audi, but headlights fogged up already..
The battery is simply too small.
Only bad thing about this SUV is you can't tow with it.. Major fail..
This will destroy the Rav4, this also qualifies for 6.5K federak tax credit, I do not know why people are paying 50+ grand for Rav4 Prime XSE.

Our 2018 CT6 2.0E plug-in gets 40 miles on battery alone so we go months without using gasoline and up to 3,000 miles on a tank of gas.
i hate how the daytime running lights don't fill in the entire housing... horrifying looking
you don't know how to use the word "horrifying" if that's what you're using it on.
@@twystedhumour i do in fact know how to use it. thanks though
Not sure about that colour.....
it's pragmatic for those with $60k in their pockets.
It’s not bad with below invoice pricing negotiated + the 6712 Fed tax credit, season of Audi and extra lease cash. Actually puts it in the low-mid 40s for prem and prem plus
He climbs into the boot of the cars, he jams himself in-between the front seats and all that's left for this joker to go full hat trick is to climb on the panoramic roof and do a review from there.
Fake exhaust is such a joke....
Battery is way too small. This thing will pollute much more than necessary and make noisy engine come on too often. Audi needs to up game ASAP.
This guy talks too fast
audi that Pedro made, yeah, nah.
Just another dull and unimaginative SUV for those special SUV people. Looks just like all the other dull uninspiring bland bloated plastic prams on stilts. When you pull up at a gathering people won't be flocking to it and begging to go for a drive. It's just an appliance you use to avoid walking to soccer and school.
