Most of this is like a Classics of Game compilation. What a fascinating library that sums up all the awkward growing pains of interactive CDs, FMV and early 3D of the early to mid-90s.
Funny, that was my final thought about this library as the last game finished. Lot's of pervy titles you'd never find on a Nintendo machine. Plus strange indie experimentations. I find the graphics on the 3DO to be as crude as some of the games. The switch from 2D to 3D with CD-ROMs produced an abundance of bad looking videogames ? Or maybe it was just the 3DO ? There's plenty of nice looking games on the Playstation during the same time period.
Yeahhhh the 3DO didn’t have the best library. But as stated it wasn’t really just for games, it does have like several good/decent games though like Need for Speed, samurai showdown, the American laser games are fun (gunslinger, crime wars etc) and some others I didn’t mention. The rest I’ve seen and looked at, just really didn’t grab my interest but then again I haven’t tried them, I actually like that there’s some stuff on sports. The Foe of Ali though is complete trash. The controls and mechanics ruin that game. And Autobahn Tokio isn’t good. It has really bad frame rates (either unoptimized or the 3DO really couldn’t handle it) but most of the fighting games are decent too.

Great video! My FZ-1 is currently cycling the intergalactic R.E.A.L. world intro screens and for people who didn't experience the FMV era, the 3DO was the best console for graphics. Gamers that were born in the early 80's know what I'm talking about. I owned the Sega CD, and the 3DO. A guy I knew owned the Philips CD-i, and between those three, the 3DO had the best hardware hands down. Only other option in the mid 90's was a PC. The PlayStation and the Saturn came out only one year later and were beginning a whole new era beyond FMV that nothing else at the time could touch.
This system will always be nostalgic to me. I remember being 9 years old and going to Magnolia HiFi and Video to play this system. It was $799 then. But the graphics, for the time, were mind blowing. My dad ended up buying me one when they dropped to $499 for Christmas one year. I still have it to this day! I don't play it much but it's the only system I still get chills over. I need to fire it up!
They still sell for a lot as well. Just make sure that any batteries or capacitors have not leaded. Basically after 20-40 years the capacitors go and the battery goes dead. Wow that game called crime patrol looked crazy! Seemed like this game with great fmv and great hit detection would never be made these days, all you had to do is change the game character from being a cop to a highschool kid and the environments from what looks to be in an electronics store to a damn school and you have a recipe for disaster(at least in the States) with all the school shootings the last 25 or so yeara.
I wasn't aware of this system for most of my life. I'm sure I've heard the name quite a few times over the past ten years, but never really paid it any mind. It honestly feels less like a console and more like a computer masquerading as a console. Seriously, most of these games just in the first three minutes feel like what you would see on any maybe... *mid-90s* PC or somewhere around that era. That's not really a criticism, I'm not stating it as a flaw. Just an observation. Though perhaps it could be argued as one, as it doesn't stand out as a console experience, and therefore probably struggled more. I had heard this system was manufactured by different companies and get the feeling it was more of a product for companies to produce and sell than what we see from console manufacturers today, where they spend a great deal of money on console-exclusive titles that can draw in people to buy their consoles. I'd say it was a clever plan to separate yourself from the product so you don't have to invest in it so much, but considering I rarely hear anyone ever talk about this system, I'm not so sure.
I always seen it as a gimmick back in the day when it was new customers bought into it because at the time it was the only type of consol on the market with amazing then 32 bit cd rom ganes it also could play music cds which was a bonus i cant speak on like fmv movies produced but i know those 2 reasons were solid at the time. My buddys dad bought one back than he was so into it thinking it was gonna be the future of gaming shitty fmv games. To him it blew sega cds shit quality out of the water as he put it. I wasnt tricked i knew it looked amazing but the fmv games suck i hated them. Now my experince that mafe me feel super excited for newer games was when my father bought a saturn and nights into dreams its hard to explain but it really amazed me then. Course when we got a ps1 it took a back seat unfourntly but nights clockwork night D and bug had a young me blown away litterally. Only had 2 more experinces like that 1 was when i got a GBA i absolute loved it finally felt like i had a snes handheld for anywhere other than old ass gameboy my opinion changed today but the biggest was when we traded in all our ps1 stuff at EB games to get the new dreamcast console which sonic adventure and shemnue i thought were movie life like graphics of course not anymore but at the time i really did think that was like 14 at the time great memories

I miss my 3DO so much. It was really underrated and as a kid I had no idea it was so overpriced.
The mid 90's: When ESPN and Dennis Miller decided to make games, when Capcom couldn't quite count to three, and when someone just straight up called their game "Sex" and got away with it.
And we never got a Sex 2
Your timestamps don't work. Get rid of the double-zero and colon at the start.
Thanks bro, fixed!
I might be the only one who holds the 3DO as the greatest gaming experience. For me it was my first system I remeber recieveing as a gift. (I had nintendo before this dont remember getting it)}
There something so relaxing about watching these series.
The 3DO was rough though. Not much to really go back to.
With 1786 Japanese Majong games on the 3DO. I'm thinking I need to learn how to play.

On Wikipedia, there are currently 321 game and software releases listed as official; the number also rang true in the last August 31, 2019 Wikipedia page edit. I wonder why some of the games or pieces of software were omitted.
That last one, Zahdnost... wtf
As a kid in middle school when this system came out we knew this as “that weird really expensive system kinda like PlayStation”
Man I loved my 3D when I was a teen, I got it after it came waaaaay down in price and all the games where $10...
What a deal
Great work ,thanks
3DO was good thing
Just got my a/b mode Japanese 3do working.
I like to think of the alternative timeline where 3DO was the biggest console ever and FMV games were the top sellers :P What an awesome nightmare lol
Not much worse than half the cinematic slop we keep getting now.
Ah yes Fifa with the player run animation that will leave you on the floor with a seizure
It had Hello Kitty? I seem to recall Hello Kitty being later on..

Activision has made Gex reference in Crash bandicoot 4.
i love SLAYER
3do 성능이 ps나 seturn 수준급인데...하긴 32bit였던가. 확실히 메가cd랑은 차이가 나네
I feel like I took mushrooms watching this
I have been hunting those adult vivid entertainment games since I was a kid.
Ballz(1994) was released in Super NES and Sega Genesis by Accolade
👍
I'd say it was a clever plan to separate yourself from the product so you don't have to invest in it so much, but considering I rarely hear anyone ever talk about this system, I'm not so sure.
does anybody have or know whrere I can find Digital Dreamware? it's one of the games that caught my attention
There's an unusually large amount of bad sex games on this console lol
Una consola que en su momento no supe apreciar y está en mi top para volver a comprar por un precio razonable
How did they even sell one unit at $799 price tag? I mean, like nobody should have bought this.
0:37 is that shroomjack
there is no panzer general
Wow.....3do were stream lining the process of adult games back than
And weird ones to, cause you can really tell they were trying to be best at adult stuff when it’s just a lot of......whatever it is they have for it
lol i was thinking the same thing lmao
some games in video just intro not gameplay video.
Nice!
