Thanks for the review. I just purchased and waiting on it to arrive. I've been riding a Gary Fisher hardtrail that I purchased in 2001. This year for the first time, I'm starting to have a hard time keeping up with my 17 year old son on steep inclines on our local trails. Nothing too technical, so I'm hoping this bike works for my needs. Also was looking for a bike that could be used on occasion for commuting as well. I was thinking of adding tubeless tires and an air-fork.
unfortunately the Summit 1 doesnt support tubeless tires. I own one myself and reached out to Veloctric for this reason and they said the wheels dont support it and advised me not to modify the bike in any way to allow for tubeless. There is another youtuber on here though that said his bike shop was able to do it by just adding RIM tape so i dont know man.
I thought I wanted the Ramblas, but now I want this one! Thanks for the review. My hope is to replace the stock handlebars with taller bars (maybe 5" - 6") and maybe a slightly taller riser, then lengthen the control cables and lines. I need a more upright seating position to keep my lower back happy while exploring the trails. Do you think the Large would really accommodate a 6'6" rider?
I do think that the Large would fit 6'6". The bike's reach is on the longer side and even though I'm 5'10" (well within the minimum height) I found the reach slightly too long for me. I was able to roll the handlebars back and slide the seat forward to accomodate my height, but I think you should be fine.
Are you able to remove the actual throttle lever? If so, how easy? Im looking at this bike to ride on trails that only allow class 1 and to use it to commute to work at times/ride around pave paths
@@gerardsss1 If you plan on doing more road riding with beginner trails then I would take the Summit 1 every time. The amount of features it has for the money is insane. The F5 has better brakes, drivetrain and more powerful mid drive motor. But you can always upgrade the drivetrain and brakes. If you have to have a mid drive, then F5 is the way to go. But if you don’t then Summit 1. For me personally though; I still have both bikes and I ride the Summit 1 more
My guess is that when you switch to the Cadence sensor mode, the computer recalibrates how it delivers power to mimic a cadence sensor; but that's just a guess.
As an overall experience yes. I think that the features of the Summit 1 make it a superior bike. If you're looking for a great everyday bike that can do some light trail riding I'd choose the Summit 1. But between the two I do think that FLX is superior when it comes to trails that are anything above beginner.
Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing. I think I'm going to pick one of these up!
Great video BH! Is the headset straight 1 1/8 or can a tapered 1.5" fork fit in the headset? Cheers!
I'm 98% sure that that this is a tapered headset, but I would email Velotric just to be 100% sure.

@@filmguy5 Congratulations! Let me know when you get it and how you think it rides. Appreciate the comment!

Love the bike, great all around.

The throttle lever is very easy to remove, you remove the clamp bolt, take it off, and unplug the wire. It takes less than a minute.
So the F5 Trail vs Summit 1....preference? They're' just $200 difference......Your experience with both: Which is a better purchase?

any idea how the bike can use a cadence sensor when it actually does not have one?
