Now in my mid 60's, they take $170 a month from S.S. for Medicare. If not mistaken, if you are out of country you can cancel that. I don't think you can use it outside of the USA.
    Thanks for the info.👍👍

Hi Joe, you are correct you can not use it outside US and it’s territories. Health care is a big concern but if your healthy enough, maintenance care is very affordable. Thanks for watching and your comment

You two have got to be the craftiest, niftiest, thriftiest and peso- pinchiness couple of all couples living in the city environment of the Philippines. In fact, I would be willing to bet you're doing better than many other filipina-foreigner couples living in the remote province areas. Keep up the good work!
      Thank you for sharing. 😃

Thanks Bob, not sure about all that but we do like having a little something at the end of the month. I’m sure you and your asawa, are equally as good with the budget.

@@phbornusnaturalized2342 Not really, Mark. We have one of those silly things called a four-wheel drive truck with a crew-cab, plus a 5-speed
manual shift. That, along with the insurance and the diesel, makes the $800 monthly budget only a dream for us. We used to have a motorbike to go back and forth on, but after carrying the groceries in a backpack on my back and experiencing heavy rain soon soured that idea after six months. Sheena is the designated driver to my relief. It's a forty-five minute drive to Dipolog City.
You two have my utmost respect in accomplishing that astonishing feat.
We use solar power now, which dropped our monthly electricity bill from p6,000+ to p1,200. In our area we experienced one to three and sometimes more brownouts on a daily basis. Finally, we experienced a five day brownout that convinced that me to go solar. Besides, the power company here is notorious for raising the power rates ever six months or so while the service wasn't getting any better.
Anyway, you two are setting a marvelous example for others to follow. Living a minimalistic life-style does not mean skimping on meals or not taking vacations or going out together to have fun.

So is your place pretty remote? How are the roads there? Outages here are rare, the plant is only about 15 min away so we are “insulated” a little against outages. And our rates have come down which is the strangest thing I think I’ve ever seen in a power company.
Sounds to me like you and Sheena have carved yourself out a fairly comfortable and stable life where you are. So props to you, it takes determination to do that when you’re here. Thanks for sharing. (Sometimes we miss comments when they are posted as replies)

Thank's Guy's......I agree that you're budget is more than doable, in fact it's a very generous budget eating healthy food and no vices etc ......living within one's need's only.
I've seen many other so-called budgets that are no more than a Western WANT'S......... rather than needs and affiliation with the pH lifestyle it provides.
It's not how much money you have? It's what you do with what we do have?...........I was told that once many year's ago when I was young by a then very, very wealthy client of mine and I stuck by that mantra as a mentoring lesson for life.
    Cheers Jes and Mark

Nice tight budget. But living in USA on $800.00 dollars per month you will be sleeping under a bridge somewhere. At least in the Philippines you may be home a lot. But you are safe, sleeping in a house and eating on a daily basis. Better there then here. Have a great day.
