Tim.! Don’t ever change..! You seem to be the perennial teenager.. browsing the local guitar store and wanting every single axe that’s in your hands..!!
Love it man..!!👍🏼❤️
I’m 67..but when I grow up I wanna be as cool as Tim Pierce..!!
Angel City Guitars is my favorite boutique shop in Los Angeles. The owner is great plus you might get to see Tim there.
I met Tim during my tenure at a guitar shop in Albuquerque in the early 90’s, and am fortunate to have remained friends. His enthusiasm for trying new guitars has not waned in 30 years!
Hi Tim! I found Angel City with a google search November ‘20. I went over the hill from Westwood and l ended up ordering a custom Shabat Lynx Lake Placid Blue that looks identical to that xotic. Received it about 3 months later and I was and still am ecstatic! My best and favorite guitar. Olay is such a chill guy and the entire experience was gratifying. I met Avi a while back and spent an hour or so at his shop. Another super chill individual. Did I see his shoes in this video? Anyhow, I’m a nobody, just love playing and decided to treat myself and feel lucky that I happened upon this shop. The fact that you, as one of my favorite players, decided to spotlight Angel City is icing on the cake. Thanks for all you do! Thank you Olay! Thank you Avi! I highly recommend Angel City Guitars and how crazy would it be to go there and run into Tim Pierce just sitting there playing? That would be cool. Peace.
Can you imagine having Tim Pierce walk into your store and start playing around. Outstanding!!!
I bet Tim doesn’t think that anyone thinks about him that way! (Humble man) which is what adds to his charisma!
“Hi! I’m Tim, do you mind if I try one of your guitars?” Then WHAM!! He knocks you out with his amazing stuff!
@@PR-BEACHBOY Tim is totally a cool cat! Never has attitude, happy. Always speaks matter of factly about the songs he has participated with. A true icon of all that is guitar!
I can’t think of a better superlative than ‘outstanding’. There MUST be one, though. But even if there isn’t if there isn’t one, Tim would be it. I can’t think of a nicer guy, especially with the kind of talent Tim has. It’s just one of the myriad reasons I’m so glad he accepted me into his Guitar Masterclass, although I have been playing guitar, bass guitar, Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Baritone saxophones, flute and piccolo, violin and the occasional cello, and even keyboards - both manual and electronic.
just thought about that, you are sitting in such a store, performing some underwhelming guitarplay because you just like guitars and then tim pierce walks in, i would shit my pants and silently leave through the backdoor :D
@@steph4n at the very least I would put the guitar down and ask a salesperson if they sell drums. 😄
Lovely place for guitar aficionados and happens to be a five minute walk from my house. Highly recommended!
Those Tom Andersons are just terrific. I had a TA Tele semihollowboday look alike with a single "F" hole, that just played and sounded like a dream! I say I "had" because my fav go to place at the time, Guitar Showcase on Bascom Ave in San Jose, CA had one and I'd pop in form time to time to play it. I should have bought it (a little pricey for me at the time) because one day I walked in and it was gone! Some fortunate player picked it up. My buddy Dan who works there came over to me and said, "I told you, you should have bought it." Thanks Dan. 🤣
Walter Becker was a genius! I'm glad you explained his importance to the world of music.
Guitar stores of all kinds are a blast, but I truly appreciate the more hidden and perhaps localized Guitar stores. The charm and history behind them are unique to their own. Cheers Tim!
I found a tiny lil shoe box shop in Portland on a bus. trip up there a cpl mo ago. .. Squeezed into the front of a repair shop just cool vibe cool owner
Cool stuff. Walked in for a cable left with a cable & a pedal.
Hanks Music Emporium,.. look em up! good times 👍
Trouble is, that BLAST is usually coming from 18 guitar amps cranked up to 11, with a bunch of mediocre guitar players making a din that could raise the dead!
That Tone King Imperial is quite an amp. That Anderson Strat sounded amazing into it.
I went last year, I remember it looking a bit different when I was there but super cool store. What I remember most is how nice the guy working was to me, I have seen a few too many stores missing that. I bought a fuzz there.
I ordered my JHS PackRat pedal from these guys. Awesome products and quick delivery!
That '54 Les Paul was awesome in cherry burst, nothing is better than a wrap tailpiece...imolol
Thanks for the video!
The N4 with the "Mother in law" inlay is awesome!
Stopped in to Angel city guitars a month ago and Tim was in there, such a pleasure to meet him. Shop has some higher end gear, bunch of pedals new and used. Owner was super cool and not all about a sale. Told me this is a hobby as he owns other businesses. Awesome shop that reminds me of the shops on Sunset Blvd back in the 90s . Glad I live down the street.
For epic look: Gretsch / For epic tone: Tom Anderson Strat / For epic history: The Becker Les Paul.
The Nuno-Guitar is also cool with the modern, genious neck joint.
But: With the Anderson strat in your hand you´re "singing", "telling stories", got that classic, psychedelic tone of the late 60´s and early 70s... Buy it! 😊
gotta say it's pretty inspiring to watch Tim's love for the guitar GROW.
The guitars were cool & all.. but that Toneking Imperial amp stole the show! And, it was so great hearing Tim play and interact with a live real amp turned way up in a real room instead of through monitors from a mic'd isolation cab. His dynamics are super. His playing sounds so much bigger & more alive playining guitar & amp like they were meant to be heard together.
Tom Anderson guitars are really incredible in function & design. For many years I had the 'faded sunburst strat' photo from their catalogue on my studio wall. Beautiful.
Thanks Tim. One of the Few thing I miss about LA is music stores. My closest is Erie and that’s 45 minutes away.
What's this?! What a great hidden store! Their inventory is amazing, and those guitars you tried are superb!
Dear Tim Pierce, I want to tell you, that - to me - also that red Jaguar-shaped guitar from your "Black & White"-episode (2019) sounded fanstastic!
I enjoy watching the joy and emotion shine as you play. The playing is outstanding, but your joy is out of this world. Thanks for sharing.
That’s what keeps bringing me back video after video
NOBODY plays like Tim Pierce!
As a big Nuno fan and owner of a couple N4s pretty cool to see that silver N4 there. Super strats from that era often get overlooked. The N4 is a great playing guitar.
Great amp choice Tim, the ToneKing Imperial Mk II! Mine is my grab and go amp. But next time dime the gain on the lead channel, and set tone and mid-bite to noon. It’s amazing!
Great stuff! I love Tom Anderson guitars and hope to be able to buy one one day. Why do I love them when I haven't even played one yet? Well, apart from hearing a ton of great tones from them online, when I wrote to Anderson to ask a couple questions, Tom himself wrote me back and was as kind as helpful and encouraging as he could be and that goes a long way with me. :)
Great show, killer guitars and playing, but that pedal case - SWEET!
Love the insight Tim - you’re awesome
Those Bill Lawrence noiseless pickups for hb, strat, tele are amazing. Their shop is an unassuming friendly vibe now run by Becky (his wife) and Shannon (daughter) in LA WildePickups. A block from that is the REAL hidden gem... Blimpie Donuts!
Great! Thank you Buddy
That was friggin cool! I don’t think this Maine boy would ever step foot in an LA music shop like that so I appreciate the tour my man! Love geetahs! 1st album at 10 years old in ‘77 was Boston and can still draw those spaceship guitars at 55! Btw if your in Maine and need a drummah you give me a call bub! Friggin love your channel! 🤘
Man, wanted to hear Tim play a bit of Black Friday on that LP. Some of Becker's greatest playing, IMHO.
wow! your videos bring me happiness!!! Thank you so so much!!! :)
I’ve been there, it is a really nice store. I found them as they were listed as a Catilinbread pedal dealer, and they do have a nice selection. What I liked though was that they were still nice to me, even though I wasn’t about spend $1K-unlike Norms.
I really enjoyed this video and now I think I need a Tom Anderson Icon :) You make everything sound amazing!
So Tim! The only thing missing from your presentation was the list price of each of the guitars you demonstrated.
Not that I could or would purchase one but it would be interesting to lay awake at night and scheme about how to sneak one of those guitars passed the bride!!
Hey Tim! As luck would have it, I happened to be in LA today, so after seeing you video, I visited Angel City Guitars.... probably the best guitar/amp/pedal shopping experience I've had... thanks for the heads up!!!!
So cool to meet you, Rick & Rhett yesterday guys! Thanks for the inspiration and insights 🎸 Airforceguitar!
I love to visit small guitar shops when I travel and play my pick of the guitars in the shop, but I would be intimidated if the other guy doing the same thing was Tim!
Enjoyed the I want video😂great playing mate, each guitar made you play different, what was the house amp? I (magnatone)) you should take us shopping more often. The limba wood gretch was Bonnie on the ears. 👍🥃Respect to you bud.
Blessings and Respect Tim! Thank you.
I wanted one of those Washburn N4s back in the day...
All great guitars and great playing. Would be a trip to own and play any of those
Thank you 🙏
Tim, I just found your channel. I like your guitar playing. Is there an album that features your lead work? I'm still a CD guy, so I'd like to get a copy if it's available. Thanks,
Love it Tim.
Great video Tim. Quick question, did you play in beth hart's band?
Well, it was LA's best kept secret :>.
Walter Becker was amazing. I bumped into Rick Derringer (who did a lot of work with Steely Dan) and his beautiful wife while I was on a World Tour some years ago.
We hung out briefly the next day. Nice guy.
Hey that Gretsch is insane.
You're looking well, Tim. Another great video, pal. 🙂
Visited Carter's Vintage yesterday. A little above my pay grade.
I haven't played a Washburn that I care for. But I assume the Nuno model is very different than most?? Cool video Tim.
Ahh Tim, you kill me. I was just listening to the John Waite, "Ignition" album when I hear someone just ripping it on guitar. I'm quickly asking myself, "who the hell is that?" Google tells me YOU! Love your playing so much brother.
Here in the uk we couldn’t get Hamer’s back in the 80’s. So I always wanted one. In the past ten years I’ve bought a few. My best is my mint 78 Sunburst. Ex Jethro Tull. A great guitar with a sublime thin neck.
LOVE that Anderson.
Great shop lot’s of great guitars and cool folks….👍🏼
Great vid !
Cool place!
Liked the Washburn, but to be fair, Tim, I own a Washburn J-3, which is a ES-175 copy, but it is an amazing guitar, even with the stock pickups. Great shop, great axes, and great video, Tim. Thanks for sharing your time, expertise, and skills! BTW, what amp were you playing thru???
Looks like a Tone King Imperial MkII next to him
Haven't been to the new location. I love stopping in when I am in the area.
That Les Paul is killer
Maybe because I'm dreamin of having one, The spesial N4 too
If Tim Pierce say those are good guitars, definetely are
Awesome video
At the beginning of the video, was that a Mosrite on the counter behind you?👍
Great to hear that Walter Becker was one of your favourite musicians of all time - mine too.
It doesn't surprise me though :-)
Tone King imperial amp!! I got that amp, love it!!
Tim, masterclass student here. Would you do a masterclass or YT video on Steely Dan. I know you've already done a few but there's a lot to draw from.
I would take the blue one. I like that color as well. Nice Walter Becker story yeah what a once in a life time moment!!!!!!!
my only complaint is this wasn't nearly long enough I love to hear Tim play
Hey Tim, I was looking through your credits.. I noticed you worked on Amused to Death with Roger Waters. I'd love it if you would do a video talking about that... It's my all time favorite album!!!
On the initial pan of the wall I instantly saw the Nuno and was going to joke "buy that silver N4 and send it to me".
The Xotics are exceptional. I have played some of their telecasters in a local shop (I actually go back to visit them lol) if I had the disposable 4 grand for one I would with zero hesitation bring one home.
Much respect...
I want the N4 too
😅
hiiiii Tim Pierce
I’ve never seen a guitar shop carry Washburn Nuno signature guitars!! HOLY SMOKES!
*_Yeah- was really hoping for some Stairway._*
Is that near the Store Brendon Small, Marc Marron and Brian Posehn run?
Nice! 😍
This isn't helping my marriage Tim!!!!! lol It's fun when you get past the point of thinking "oh if I just get this one guitar" and you realize that every guitar can make you play just a little different, make you realize something new about your playing. That Anderson, Nuno, and the Gibson are calling me too. The others, aren't as much my bag, but I recognize that they would likely force me not to play my "cheese", which is always good.
Understand, totally. P
I'm a simple man, I see a Washburn N4, I hit like.
I had mine re-fret this year with stainless steel frets!
That Gretsch was killer
This was a fun one
different doors creak in different ways, but they’re all still just doors creaking.
Tim, nice guitars, but what about that amp? Sounds great, but can't make out the brand or model.
5 4 3 2 1 That Steely Dan Gibson Les Paul 54' Historic with P90s will be gone the next time you blink.
Sounds incredible.
It be nice to live in a area around LA. Although I bet there may be 100 or if not 1000 guitar places. My chance running into a legend would have to wait until I looked in a mirror. Ha ha.
Being a bass player it’s like hunting unicorns to find a store w any decent basses
I don't see the Walter Becker guitar in their inventory. It looks like it's on some auction site. Even if they had it it would be 5 figures and I don't think they would let me play it.
ZOUNDS, WHAT SOUNDS!
Walter's Les Paul would have me looking for $$$. Good thing I'm in Japan and far, far away from such temptations. 🥰
I think you said, “I really want this guitar” …until you got to the last one. ;)
The last one is the one I want the most and it's not for sale ha ha
@@timpierceguitar That explains why it hasn't been scooped up already. Great video.
⚓️ Thanks Tim 😎 ? Who is Mr. Pierce’s guitar tech ? 🎸 ? Studio engineer ? 😎
That’s my kind of stash 😆
Located at 4901 Topanga Canyon Blvd
Woodland Hills, CA
Enter via back parking lot three doors down from Starbucks.
....."it's kinda LA's best kept secret"....
Doh!
... not any more.
Ps..PROPS for the N4 love 💪💪 I jonesed for one of those damn guitars for years Back When ..then forgot about playing electric for 20 yr....now I'm back and I keep looking for a good deal on one, always felt the design was brilliant..
Top
Is it funny that I was researching late last night how to fix a paint chip on a poly finish, and some people want a new guitar like it's been played for 70 years. I guess there are 2 schools of thought here. Those that love prestene guitars and others who love them looking beat up. Which to me is like going in to buy a new car and asking the car dealer if he could bang it a little, dealer says it will cost you extra, you say no problem. I don't know but wouldn't it make more sense to buy a used one, that's already beat up?.😅 😂
Look over there folks only one of the best session gutiarest of all time here in gutiar store.
Came here from Rick Beato! 🎸
Did they steal Norm's couch?
So much for it being a secret... ;^)
You had to buy the Walter Becker guitar
