After your name, it listed Bill Nelson. Is that THE Bill Nelson, of Be Bop Deluxe fame?
@Mr McGoo Thanks, my friend. I'll look that up.
@Mr McGoo Not sure if you were pulling my leg, but after reading his blog, I discovered it is indeed the same wonderful guitarist who was such a huge influence on my playing when I was younger.
Oh man, can't wait til these things can be in person again. I'm sure it'll cost more, but I'll be saving my ducats!
Nice
Glad to have you as a friend, Tim-love what you did over the track…
Thanks man, ever since the moment I discovered it in your Dave Grohl video I was hooked. Looking forward to teaching with you at the PRS school in August
Love the emerging bromance. 🎸🥰
The very first thing I noticed when I started this video was the track tim was playing to. Tyler, you are amazing. Love your original style. Get a real kick out of your videos. Keep rocking!
Timmy is fire with grin and smile
Amazing stylization output combination from two unique talents. Total ear candy.
Most people’s guitar faces look like they’re straining for a dump. Tims’ looks like he won the lottery every time.
TBH, there’s initially a petty part of me that is envious of the guitar, the house and studio, the talent… but when you play, that all gets purged away and I’m just left with a big grin on my face. So happy for you, and thankful for you sharing it with us!
Thank you for this nice comment. In 40 years as a studio musician we were always encouraged to be in the background. The thing about UA-cam is you have to be a bit of a show off in order to have videos that people click on, and watch...
Believe me my nature is to not show any of this!! Haha
And for further proof that being a session musician can pay off nicely, check out the video "Inside Bassist Nathan East's California Castle". Wow.
@@timpierceguitar At least in my little kid musician world, I find that guitarists, vocalists, drummers, bassists all seem to be more interested in showing off than just playing great music. I’m kind of guilty of this from time to time as well but I also enjoy playing “simple” songs that I love just as much if not more so than songs that are difficult to play. Has this always been the case with musicians or do you think UA-cam is partially to blame? Cuz ya gotta show off to get views?
PS- I like that you play all kinds of guitars. It would be a sad day indeed if I were forced to only play one brand. 😝 🎸 🤘🏽
@@timpierceguitar Totally understandable. It's the nature of the UA-cam business, the clickbaity thumbnail, the blazing licks, all of it. Thanks Tim!
@@louisrios5546 Umm, it's probably good to point out he was a touring bassist for both Phil Collins and Eric Clapton...since the 70s. He's not just a session musician - he has been a part of two of the biggest musicians in music for decades:).
Tim, you are correct. I work at PRS. There is no "good enough" in the entire production process. It has to be perfect. If it cannot be made perfectly, it gets cut up.
So, is the guitar a custom job built for Tim?
If not, which model is it?
I'd be happy to take some of those non-perfect parts off your hands lol
@@CorbCorbin It sounded like Tim said he picked out the wood from pics and it took six months to build it. I don't know if that means it is a custom built to his specs or if they just built a model in their lineup for him using their private wood stock that he chose.
The rejects are Extremely expensive artisanal firewood
One day will own one..actually the fiore just looks tight for me....
Tim, seriously. that is definitely a fine instrument. I think however, you could play a fence post if it had strings.
Tim reminds me of Robin Williams when he smiles. It's heartwarming!
Been thinking that too!
Been thinking that for years! Really cool connection. Same wholesome energy.
Congrats Tim. You most certainly deserve it!
Holy crap!!!! Some of your TASTIEST playing EVER!!!!!!
"I want to put down my pick and get better a playing the electric guitar with the five fingers of my right hand". Tim then proceeds to deliver 32 seconds of playing with his right hand that most of us could only ever dream of :) Love the principle though of continuous learning.
Tim is such an amazing player, I would love to understand his feelings and ideas and how he feels them when he plays.. he is just so gifted!
I just love to watch and listen to you play as you always seem to be having a great time!
I’d say you’ve got a pretty good scald on the fingerpicking already… 🤙🏽
Just bought myself a PRS wood library custom 24 and I LOVE it! Congrats on your new one, too! They're beautiful and play so well.
The day you stop learning, forgetting takes over!
I made it easy, I stopped forgetting and now all I do is learn
That's a real good one. I always have tried to come up with guitar philosophies to kinda keep going. That one is going in the bag. Ha!
Love what you do Tim, I also love your enthusiasm and just your joy of music brother… I was in a terrible work related accident and I went years without being able to even pick up a guitar. I am now just starting to pick it up again for the first time in 10 years and it’s channels like yours that inspire me. Thank you Tim from a fellow musician who lost his way and he’s trying to find the light to get back on the road again….✌️🕉🎼
I have also been working on my right hand plucking. It definitely opens up new territories for expansion licks! Thanks Tim!
you’re honestly one of my favorite people. you seem very grounded, down to earth and so nice. i feel very safe watching your videos
A beautiful guitar for all those fingerpicking practice sessions! Cheers Tim!!
It sounds amazing, I’m sure a lifetime guitar for you
Absolutely amazing!! I love to watch and listen to you play Tim, incredible!!! Thanks!!
Beautiful guitar Tim. Congrats, hope you get to play and enjoy it in good health for many years to come 🙏
Very inspiring. Congratulations on the new PRS, that’s a very sweet guitar.
So amazing. Thank you for sharing this time with us.
That's an incredible tone you have there Tim. The guitar is a beaut, and your playing takes it to another level!
That non-adjustable stoptail is really a magic bridge. LOVE how immediate of an attack it gives you and it’s so comfortable!
This video is so good! Great visuals Tim! 👏👏👏👏👏
Tim, your intros are always magical! Great video and great music! Thank you!
Congrats Tim, she’s a beauty!
Love the fingers as well.✌️
Beautiful guitar Tim. Beautifully played too. My Custom 22 has been a bit neglected of late. This videos been a great show of what beautiful instruments these PRS’s are. Thanks for the inspiration Sir!
Great that you play now with your fingers. Richie Kotzen also changed to his fingers some time ago! Much more possibilities!
For the most possibilites play with both. Then you have twice the possibilities. I love hybrid picking and switching quickly from pick to fingers.
Wow! Sounds so good!!! Congratulations!
That guitar is gorgeous... happy for you, man! Cheers!
Love the soloing in this vid. production has kicked up! Sound is always amazing. best youtube channel ever
“...making the best music using the guitar in the service of music...”....very wise words...so many nowadays are hooked on gear and the art of making music has taken a back seat...thank you for reminding us of why we chose this hobby/life in the first place...rock on my brother!!!!!
Beautiful! Congratulations 🎉👏
I’m a huge fan of your playing, and have seen a lot of your videos, but this one might be my favorite, just for the section on learning. Love ya❤️ never stop being you and never stop moving forward.
Beautiful looking & sounding guitar Tim, you deserve it
Man, watching you play just puts me in a good mood. Thanks!
Congratulations Tim
...man if anyone deserves that guitar it's u my friend...as always sounds sonically magical...so happy for u...it's absolutely beautiful...thanks for sharing this story and all you contribute to guitar nerds like me cuz there's so much junk out there and u are a barometer of the highest quality stuff..
One of the most beautiful sounding instruments I've heard. Thanks again Tim, as always
Thank you so much, Tim. You are easily one of the most inspirational players for me, even just the parts of the videos of you playing are so motivating for me. I've hardly played the last few months for some unknown reason, but this morning this video motivated me to pick up my guitar and start playing for the first time in a while. The knowledge you share has also improved my playing so much over the last couple of years and has deepened and broadened my philosophy of guitar playing as well. I hardly had any flavour in my playing before finding and being inspired by you and a few others in that tight youtube guitar community. So again, thank you.
Man it was so heartening just hearing how you describe this fantastic guitar, it’s balance, and Tyler’s song. And the quest to learn right hand technique. You’re the best Tim.
It's strange how seeing a human share their happiness, can make some guy on the other side of the planet be happy too.
Thanks Tim, for sharing your journey with the world.
Peace
Tim's rendition of Tyler's music with that PRS reminds me of late Alex Lifeson solos, and it warms my heart!
Really enjoyed the school last year and just got a ticket again this year!
You and Taylor deserve it! Did great work!
Hey Tim. Those intros and those tasty bits you play are beautiful.
Both you and PRS are generous and the cause is noble. Cheers Tim.
Love these videos. Always inspirational
Tim, I'm just glad I have free access to your playing. You are a amazing talent. Thank you!
Another amazing intro solo! Love your work as always Tim
The first tour that I did as a guitar tech, the guy that I was working for had two beautiful PRS's. He was one of the first guys in metal to use them. I loved playing those.
Love this format, Tim. 👊😎🖤🎶
Yeah, so I'll just be learning that solo and calling that a lesson. Some lovely intervals!
This may be one of the greatest moments of lead playing I have ever heard. That was pure and true. Not over the top just exactly what the song needed.
Incredible guitar craftsmanship, not only in how it looks but, how it sounds being played. It also helps that you're an awesome guitar player. Tyler Larson is incredible as well -- kudos to the both of you
How does Tim keep so humble with all that talent? I would be SUCH a Diva! Love watching you play!
It's great learning about everything you've done. Turns out, I've been listening to you for many many years, I just didn't know it!
I love my PRS guitars, currently using a Custom 24-08 live and it's immaculate. You make that guitar sing, scream and emote. Cheers Tim!
That guitar is nothing short of SPECTACULAR!!!! Love the composition and your playing, of course.
Tim, that opening jam was rocking and on fire. I want to play that in the car with the pedal down.
Thanks for the video, Tim. The types of learning walk down the street was very interesting.
Damn I love your playing! And those octaves! Wow....cheers from Canada
Tim, that fingerstyle solo was soooo deep!! Really great 👍
I was anxiously awaiting to hear about the fretboard inlays. Very cool looking.
Tim you would love learning Flamenco. Its so much fun for improvising and a fun zen exercise in keeping the right hand/wrist flappy and relaxed while playing
Tim you are amazing and your explanation of the tones is spot on man if I could only play I bit like you … I am in aww
It got real jimi page-ish at the end. Beautiful playing man.
The consumate professional!!! Everything you play sounds perfect! Incredible! Peace brother
Tim is without a doubt, at the Top !!
He plays with a feel that adds something tangible that you can almost reach out a grab...
And he always seems like the nicest guy in the world !!!
Hope he has many hour's of playing that beautiful PRS gem !!
It's always a pleasure to see his notification pop up !!! 👍
Glad yours came out so beautifully. I’ve had my 594 10 top for about 5 months. It sings like yours. The top is sooo very 3D. I got a wide stripe Trampas Green but there are blues hiding alongside the greens.
I’m fairly new to soloing, having played mostly rhythm or pattern picking since 68. Covid gave me a chance to begin my journey in the solo realm. I’ve joined the Masterclass and what better tool to use than a core PRS.
Enjoy!
Congrantulations, Tim; there's no better place for that guitar than with you. Cent'anni!
PRS has this awesome squishy sound that I love. I've got an SE custom that I just LOVE. Gig with it every Saturday. Stays locked in tune, sounds fantastic, and it looks gorgeous. I know it's not a Maryland guitar, but still...I can't recommend them enough.
Beautiful track and WOW, what a guitar!!
Chris Buck has a magic right hand, lots of ideas watching him
I was thinking the same thing. I would love to see Tim and Chris do something together.
Real fine playing. Great tone from that PRS.
I think its so cool you have your cabs in a differnt room miked up,very cool.I love my modeler but If I had your setup I dont know your setup is so cool and some much control and ways for you to try things.Once again so cool.
Good lord you have amazing tone. It's the sound I hear in my head that I've been trying to create for so many years. Mercy.
Love your playing Tim.
That’s awesome! Every guitarist wants to have a #1 guitar. Congrats!🤘👍 🔥
You are an inspiration.
Love this, Tim. Fantastic how you recognise Tyler’s journey into being an artist and what that involves, then linked to your own next step. Good luck with the fingers. Mark Knopfler is a hero of mine, so I hope you take some inspiration from him.
I had a custom…never could get used to the ‘wide fat carve’ neck! Great sounding guitar, but felt like I needed to take a belt sander and re-shape the neck. Finally sold it.
Man, the opening of performance 2 is awesome and the amp starts blooming a bit. Lovely tone!! Whats the interval of the first tone related to the underlying chord? Great playing as always Tim. Chapeau!!
Good stuff, Tim!
Amazing tone. It is like tele/paul child. Reminds a gretsch jet's tone with a hairy of a good gibson.
Nobody smiles more than Tim! Great guy! If the world had his attitude, it would be a much better place! He’s the Bob Ross of guitar! Happy little cords!
Tim is simply the best! A great guy and a monster player, teacher, artist, etc.
I like the idea of using the fingers on your picking hand! Mr Chris Buck is a master @ using his fingers instead of the pick & I love his playing!!! Thanx for the share.
We have coyotes the ravine near our house. Very often sing to us!
Congrats that's a true treasure, you make it sound even better.
Tim - so jazzed to hear about your next goal i.e. 'putting the pick down and getting better with the 5 fingers on my right hand.' That is a very worthwhile skill and I can't wait to hear and see videos of your progress on your journey.
Wonderfull!!!
Make a video on the sound of Elisa's Pearl days! Tks!
I was watching, the other day, to your discography, and noticed you also played in a song form Clouseau, the brothers Wauters, probably Jean Blaute, the producer from these great artists. And so the world got a little smaller. I love the PRS guitars, their gorgeous and I believe you they are sounding amazing. On this part of the world, you won't find very much the brand here.
Awesome, Tim! 👍🏻
Sounds like a good time. I'd love to join in, but I still haven't been able to get my hands on my first guitar yet
Hi Tim - big fan of yours... I really like it when your eyes get tight, bro - that's when its sounding the best.
TIM!!! Just when I think you can't play with any more class and feel you put the pick down and take it to another level!! That was epic my friend! Keep being you!
This video has everything so rolled in it's impressive.
the light pointing up at the bottom of the guitar in "performance 2" makes it look space-age and otherworldly
