The negative comments are from those that haven't tried it. I personally boil it much longer in salted water. Then I sear fry it in olive oil, fresh garlic, salt, pepper and oregano. Excellent! Buon Appetito😊
You know, if you put the steak in a ziplock bag with the garlic and then put this into the boiled water ( remove from heat) for the same time, you will approximate a well done sous vide without losing all the flavour in the boiling water.
@@_Ben4810 I think it's only slightly bad because it's wrapped in plastic anyway and you don't cook it at such a high temperature either. But overall the heated plastic is worse :)
I don’t believe you ever learned this technique in any 5 star restaurant. I owned two, and can tell you that no chef would ever allow any cut of meat to be boiled!
I think he meant he learned that at 5 Michelin "STORES." He changed tires for a living. When they had downtime, they tried to replicate roadkill found on the tires.
Sorry but I'm not going to boil my steak same for my hotdogs. It may work really well but again no boiling for me. Room temp seasonings of choice and a red hot charcoal fire sear it both sides to close 140 a put it on a plate and enjoy❤❤❤
I don't understand why people love boiling the flavors out 9f there meats. Ribs now steak. And just like every other boil your steak videos. Well-done and tough
I'm sorry, what the actual... DO NOT DO THIS! I cannot even figure out where to start. If you did this at ANY 5* establishment, or credible within an 1000 mile radius of where I'm from, they would run you out of town tied to the back of a stampeding cow. In fact, avoid the entire western half of North and Central America. You cannot treat steak like a boiled chicken breast. If you want to bag it and cook it Sous Vide, fine. That is a great way to treat the steak. Speaking scientifically, when you put a steak directly into boiling water, the meat fibers releases hemoglobin from within, which most people misinterpret as "blood", causing the meat to turn that ugly grey color. The muscle fibers in the steak then absorb up the water, which has a lot less flavor. Even with the addition of garlic, thyme, rosemary, it's going to be bland, because the water to flavoring ratio is too great and the enemy of flavor is water. The searing part at the end tells me 1000% that this is not a "restaurant hack". After boiling, you already essentially have a cooked steak. And if you have ever worked in a restaurant, cooked a steak "sous vide", or done "reverse searing" you never put cooked meat into a pan on medium heat. Medium heat means you want/need to cook it for longer. You need to have it on high heat and in the pan for 30 seconds per side, at most, just to get a crust formed on the outside and seal in the juices. That is a bland, overcooked steak that only a 1 star restaurant would dare have on their menu. Sorry, not sorry.
i did a similar thing but in a plastic bag in boiling water with a small thermometer in the meat and then grilled it. kind of a sous vid type thing that i read about and it came out good but not any better than my usual method on a large george forman grill. i always use a thermometer and a timerand i pull it off at 125F.thnx from maynard, massachusetts.
Never, under any circumstance put a steak in boiling water. Or even Cold water. If the world's king of beef Curtis Stone seed this he will have a stroke.
@qview7273 you're wrong , my dude?😂 Just like stewing, cook it long enough it softens. I've been doing it for a year. And thanks for getting involved ... 2 months later. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Did this tonight, never again, overcooked and toughened. Might be useful for those worried about bugs surviving conventional pan frying but that’s about it
I used to work at a very reputable steak house. Here is my suggestion…..do not try what you saw in this video. This was an over cooked boiled steak…..gross
This is an awful way to cook a steak purest in the UK 🇬🇧 would not be happy with this terrible method of cooking a steak. One way on what not to do on cooking a steak!
Nope. Not for me. Especially ribeye. Steaks doe best over wood coals and a hot grid. Rare to medium rare for me please. Stiff mashed potatoes, asparagus and a pilsner.
Boiled steak, table salt instead of kosher salt, fried with vegetable oil instead of butter, and cooked well done... Is this your first time cooking steak? lol what the hell is this crap?

Not saying this isn't true but I've worked at 2 Michelin star restaurants and 1 5 star and none of them would even think about doing this.

That's why know one will remember your name
He forgot to say. "After your done overcooking your steak, make sure to dunk it in bean dip so it has some kind of flavor".
