- In this video I take some time to disassemble my Benchmade 940 Osborne, clean it up, and then reassemble. I also sharpened it, but the video was going too long so I decided to make that into a separate video to be published at a later date. The Benchmade 940 has been my daily carry knife for about 5 years now and it hasn't skipped a beat yet.

Good video man, the Osborne is probably gonna be my first Benchmade, (I'm a spyderco fanboy) and I gotta say, those Omega springs are gonna PISS ME RIGHT THE F*CK OFF when I go to re-assemble it after maintenance, my Spyder's are easy but I feel like I'm gonna be real upset at end of a Benchmade disassembly lol, keep up the bangers my man!
Thanks for dropping a comment! Next knife on my list is the Spiderco PM2! But yeah those springs are tricky for sure. They can cause sone aggravation if you aren’t careful.
You don't need to lube the brass rings?
A little light oil probably wouldn't hurt. I am not sure what Benchmade does, but it seems to be doing well without it. I just worry about the oil attracting and collecting more dust and dirt than if it is dry.
I wonder what the difference between the Osborne 940 & 9400 is. I have the 9400 auto and she needs cleaned, oiled and sharpened badly...
I’m not sure how the 9400 is built. I’d be careful though, I’m sure there is more to it than the 940.
