Question: can I take out the stop pin and put it back in with a different "side" facing the blade? I ask because I batoned with the blade and put a little ding in the stop pin. Now my blade has a bit of up/down play. I'd like to rotate the pin with the non-dinged side facing the blade.

Absolutely, it’s not located since it’s a round cut end so you can rotate it whichever way you want.
Do you have to remove the pivot and blade in order to remove the backspacer?
Nope, the spacer can be removed separately by just removing the 2 screws near the top of the knife.
