      It has taken about 10 years with the help mostly one person. See the credits below the videos. BTW, the video you viewed is an old one.

    If you read the description, below the video, my layout is set in the present day that is why the concrete ties. The description also states that the layout is not complete that is why no barriers etc. If you like the 60s/70s there are others on UA-cam or build you own.

      Ron Ciminero I never understand why there are folks that just have to always find something wrong. Keep up the good work buddy. The layout looks great IMHO 😃👍

    FYI, this is the old version of the Cab Ride West. The new version Cab Ride West Update clearly shows a barrier on the road in question.

  • @CrazyBear65
    @CrazyBear65 5 років тому +1

    At 1:35, why does that road just dead end there? No barriers, no cul-de-sac to flip a u-turn, nothing. And your ties are grey, like concrete, so this is set in the modern day. I like railroads set in the 60s/70s, since that is when I was a kid watching trains go by.

    Dumb question, Are you going to ballast your turnouts?

    • @wxnut1941
      @wxnut1941  5 років тому

      Fair question. I attempted to ballast one which resulted in derailments. Perhaps the ballast was too large. It's on my list.

      Just kidding due to the fact that the view showed no locomotive. I have the "TEHACHAPI!" video and the Bakersfield to Barstow "Cab Ride" video. I have been camping at warren since 1976. Today, it's a 11 hour drive to Warren but still worth it. You know about Warren?

    Not familiar with rule 52. At what time in video?

    • @scottb8175
      @scottb8175 3 роки тому

      Hi. I believe it was at 0:52 in the video - you passed an absolute stop signal without stopping and request/granted permission to proceed past the red aspect.

    • @wxnut1941
      @wxnut1941  3 роки тому +1

      @@scottb8175 I run JMRI to control the signals etc by running a script that initializes the turnouts and signals but I may not have run it that session.

    • @scottb8175
      @scottb8175 3 роки тому

      @@wxnut1941 Yes, I saw the signal was tripped early by the train. Just an issue with block detection / signal timing I guess....
      My previous layouts (loosely modelling 1950's SP) all had DC block wiring, with only track occupancy detection operated upper quadrant ABS semaphores in a few places, so I haven't tried any DCC signaling yet. My new layout will be set in 1895, so I'm undecided if there will be any signals on it at all beside maybe train order boards. My son's small portable 1960 era CPR/CNR layout is going to be DCC, but we haven't put in his searchlight ABS signals yet. The trackwork and scenery base isn't finished (we are currently replacing all the commercial turnouts and crossings we used to get the mainline running quickly with scratch built ones) and the layout operates with manually thrown turnouts with route/frog polarity switched simple DC until all the track, bus, feeder, and reverse track wiring is in and tested.

      Neglected to initialize the signals before capturing video.
