Nice video!
@@KandWRailroader Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Nicely choreographed.
@@NeilLCim Thanks!
Great lay out this must have took weeks an weeks to get done.
Thanks! It actually took nine years.
I love your train set up
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Why so slow, new track layout?
I run my layout at UP prototype track speed. The segment from Caliente to Tehachapi is limited to 23 mph. The segment from Tehachapi to Mohave is 70 mph, but that segment is only 15 ft in length. It is not practical to run trains at that speed for such a short distance.
I stand corrected, the 70mph segment is only about 5 miles prototype from Tehachapi to Monolith. That would be less than 5 ft on my layout.
FANTASTIC Thanks.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
AWESOME!!! Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work.
Amazing 😀
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Any rail fan of The Loop and Tehachapi area would love this layout. A fine, fine job.
Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it. Of course it was challenging and instructive to construct.
A beautiful layout. Gives the real feel of Tehachapi. Like the Hobby Shop. The one and only Hobby Shop in town is now gone. We were up in Tehachapi yesterday gathering apples at Pulford Apple Farm. Great job on this layout. I'm sure a dream come true, for you.
Nice work really detailed in all the planning and by the way i really enjoyed the music to this video, so many time i will come across music to a train video that is annoying to listen to yours was relaxing and a good fit.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the layout and the music.
That's a ton of work. Well done and best wishes from England.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Cool.
Thanks!
Impressive layout. Lot of man hours in doing that. Thanks.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Spectacular layout. I noticed that you use Digitrax Dcc. Are you happy with the choice and did you use their products for the signal system? Approximately how long are the signal blocks and what length trains do you plan to run? Did you use track planning software and if so, can you share the plan and the software company you used? Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for your kind comments. I chose Digitrax because of the signaling and I am happy with that choice. The signal blocks vary in length, many are about 6 ft while others are shorter based on the signaling conditions. To run long HO trains, with signaling, on any layout requires long blocks. As you can see from the video, that is about the maximum length. I did use 3D Planet software (2009) to layout the track, but have since misplaced the the files. There are four videos on the construction which might provide some insight on how the layout was constructed. It was initially laid out using chalk and yardstick on the basement floor.
Yes, I saw those videos, very nice. I was just looking for an overall plan for room and layout size and general plan. Thanks for getting back to me and thanks for sharing this great layout.
The layout is about 17ft x 22 ft in the shape of upside-down "U". If you share your email, I'll send you a sketch.
Thank you, your description was sufficient. Subscribed and looking forward to your next video.
Wow, this must have taken years to create. It should be on a TV show.
It has taken about 10 years with the help mostly one person. See the credits below the videos. BTW, the video you viewed is an old one.
I actually thought this was real for a few seconds. 😀
It is real, but just HO scale. 😁
Pretty amazing layout, I can’t imagine the work you put into making this, great job.
Thanks! Yes, it was a lot of work but I enjoyed it!
Thanks John! The La Mesa Model Railroad has been the inspiration for mine. It began about 15 years ago by studying track plans that I found in a 1992 Kalmback publication by Don Mitchell titled "Tehachapi Pass, The Ultimate walk-around layout". That prompted a pilgrimage in 2004 to visit the La Mesa Model Railroad layout and the loop itself. I visited the layout first and then the prototype. I was amazed at the detail that you and your colleagues have constructed. In fact I think someone must have visited the prototype and counted fence posts. ;-) Over the years I have viewed several videos of your layout and noted its evolution. My layout is an upside down "U" with the loop at the bottom of the "U" and is completely walk-around.
Enjoyed the cab ride. At the La Mesa Model Railroad Club in the San Diego Model Railroad Museum, we're modeling the same piece of railroad; it's always fun to see how other folks do things. One thing you do better than us--we won't really have much of the Monolith cement plant. The way our viewing aisle is set up, all the buildings would be in the aisle, so the only structures we have there are some loading docks. Unfortunately that part of our layout won't be visible to the public.
Incredible bud! Gorgeous layout- Joey
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Very interesting. And many Thanks for the music. Your work is above the average...
Thanks for complment. Glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks!
Thanks Ron, enjoy the great ride. Bob
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Just watched your latest video,it's so good the work you have put into this layout is fantastic. I love it.
Great work! Thanks for posting!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
It's certainly coming along, well done.
Thanks!
Excellent instructional video and editing...just the right amount of visual information without getting bogged down in the non essential construction debris...Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! I documented construction just in case someone asked how did you do that. Glad you found it useful.
Dumb question, Are you going to ballast your turnouts?
Fair question. I attempted to ballast one which resulted in derailments. Perhaps the ballast was too large. It's on my list.
Fantastic Layout!!!!!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Some people would complain if they won the lottery. Just enjoy the signals, scenery, and layout. LOT of time here.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
This is pretty darn amazing. It is beyond the reach of my brain to even imagine how people construct these layouts. ALl I have to say is WOW and thans for posting!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I enjoy sharing it with the model railroad community.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. BTW, this is an old video.
Nicely done!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the awesome Cabaret you have an awesome layout and you are on my shout-out list
