  • Yes we are growing a huge amount of chillies and peppers this year. But trying to keep on top of the growth, find the space, watering and light has its challenges for sure! The huge amount of growth that we have had this year certainly has caught us of guard. I'll show you some of the highs and lows of growing your own chillies here in the UK.

      That's what I did in the vid. Picked them all off 👌. Want more growth before they give any fruits.

    Your peppers are fantastic. I can't wait to see how they turn out. I am going to have to invest in some proper lighting for next year.

    I have 2 marine aquariums and never thought to use the light to start off chilli's etc. The 10 seeds I did start weeks ago are hardly 2 inches tall and doing nothing..... Ah well, now I know how I'm starting them off next year. 👍👌

      Well since the marine lights grow corals. I thought they would work well on plants, too. Think it worked. But it can be more powerful. I only run these at 30%. But I can also change the spectrum to. Its definitely something I'll use again next year.
      To be honest i thought mine would still be relatively small. Give your chillies a bit more time. Temp, light and soil conditions can all affect the growth.

      @@oddsocksgrowing yeah the controllability on the lights is summin else. From spectrum to intensity and duration, you can pick your schedule and let them do their thing, (corals) of course it'll be the same for plants, mimicking sunlight after all said n done. My current lights are controlled by an app giving ultimate control over everything, but I do have a spare 'black box led' in the shed I shoulda used. If im not mistaken, the aforementioned black box lights are designed for plants and from 1st hand experience can say they work brilliantly on corals too. 👍👌

      Love my black boxes. Grew coral really well. Was sorry to close the tank down. But at least I get to grow good chillies with it.

      @@oddsocksgrowing I'm trying to devote as much attention to each hobby as I can, gardening and reefkeeping. So far so good, my onions and potatoes are coming along swimmingly, pardon the pun and the tanks are at the mature stage so they pretty much look after themselves. I drop a video of one or the other on here every now and then for my 26 fans to see how the tank is getting on and 12 to see how my spuds, carrots and parsnips yielded 🤭🤭😂😂😂

    My sugar rush stripey and vampire are my most important chilli plant this year, I got eyes on them like a hawk.

      @oddsocksgrowing  6 місяців тому +1

      I'm going to get sugar rush for next year 😊. That's the thing with chillies. You get one chance to grow them a year. Sometimes may get another if they fail early. Otherwise its the next year to try again 😫

    They’re growing great, are you sure you have enough 😂
    mine aren’t that big.. those viparspecta leds pack a very high PAR tbf ..I’ve used them on tanks before had to have them on 40% to get around 350 PAR for SPS

    • @oddsocksgrowing
      @oddsocksgrowing  5 місяців тому

      😅 never enough. To be be fair I've given a few away. Yup the lights do whack a punch on the old PAR. I used to run mine at about 30% and grew fantastic corals.
      They used to be a good price too. But can't seem to find these ones for sale now. But I'll definitely use them for growing again next year 👍
