Hi
Haven't finished it yet lol
:p
Cactuses
I remember going to see Chicken Little at the cinema with a friend and her mum when I was a kid. We were more excited about the fact that NO ONE ELSE WAS IN THE CINEMA so two sugared up kids had the run about of an entire screening room and the only person to actually watch the film was my friends mum. Chicken Little is a beloved movie in my household and I actually paid attention watching it as a kid
Most of the characters in this movie are really hateable because they're cartoonishly awful and yet still seem believable
Art imitates life sometimes hehe 😔
Maybe the relatable stuff in rl is something we always hated...
85% of the characters are bullies ):
Like the Springfield's habitants of The Simpsons
Especially Foxy & Cluck🤦🏾
"Why are they all bullying a child, they're just stupid." Exactly
Looks like there’s going to be plenty to eat tonight though
yeah a whole ass town bullying a child is just so mean-spirited. and make a childs life so depressing af
@@joanmarie3439 Bullying a child so far is what drives poor innocent children to suicide, I’m glad Chicken Little’s life or story didn’t end in suicide, why would it?, But it doesn’t excuse what the town did to a vulnerable child, kid actually thought the sky would fall down.
Yeah, it kind of reminds me of the FamilyOFive incident. How tf do a bunch of grown people bully a small child? Smh makes no d4mn sense.
@@booboobunny5655 Oh god I remember that channel and it had a slightly different name.
Poor Cody.....:( He was just a kid no older than 8 and he’s treated terribly to the point of self harm.....(I’m not kidding the poor guy scraped his arm in school until it bled.) I’m not saying that’s why he did it but it could be a big factor, and if he is older now he probably has a lot of trauma thanks to that awful channel and the awful people in it, Poor Emma too, she said she wanted to go back to her home before she met the horrible family; the older kids however are sadists but maybe that’s either their faults or the parent’s faults.
I bet that Buck changed his last name from Little to Cluck to distance himself from his son and made his son keep the old name
This is so awful yet believable for the movie.
Nah, you can see in the newspaper clippings that Cluck is Buck's true last name
So what was his mom’s last name?
Little might be his mom's last name, she might of just not taken Buck's name or they weren't married?
He fucking would
Compare it with Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, where the father is supportive and clearly cares about his son (even supports him despite the lousy inventions), but he just doesn't know how to talk to him.
At least Flint's dad is better than Chicken Little's dad.

@@BloodylocksBathory I know ^u^ Cloudy with a chance of meatballs is based off a books series but has it's own creativity in the movie. The people who wrote it wanted to make a story that entertains kids and adults, but mostly wanted to teach a lesson about believing in yourself and that too much of a good thing can lead to chaos. It was extremely well done, especially for a Sony movie! Cloudy with a chance of meatballs is better than any Disney movie
Yeah that fox girl basically got lobotomized and stripped of her personality so she could become someone's clueless dumb gf. That's honestly a nightmare scenario for me 😬

He practically confessed!
*looks at Buck, deeply inhales*
*A WILD HYPOCRITE APPEARED!*
So Disney knew he was a terrible father the entire time.
He at least admitted it but it would've taken more than that for potential redemption.
He was intended to be a somewhat bad parent, but they ended up making him completely irredeemable.
@@3more295 What does that mean?
You know, the life of Chicken Little sounds like the perfect setup for a villain backstory. A child literally being ridiculed and beaten down by everyone around him, and has a worthless father that never supports him. This was more than enough for Chicken Little to harbor hatred for the world. With his new found knowledge of the aliens, he then gets a hunger for retribution by taking advantage of Kirby being lost. As the invasion begins, Chicken Little looks back at all the torment that happened to him in the past, but he doesn't feel any pity for the people, especially his father. Instead, he seethes with pure joy and satisfaction, watching as the world burns.
If the writers stuck with that plot, the movie would have been a whole lot better!
A Disney movie with a bad ending sounds fucking awesome tbh

True
Doesn't excuse the way this grown ass dude treating his kid that way.
@@_V.Va_ think you need to re read their comment buddy. They're not defending the dad, just saying the dad of chicken little is similar to their own father.
What gets me is that if you changed the character dynamic of the two of them you could have a way better movie. Like, imagine if he was an actual supportive dad who believed in his son and defended him from everyone. He could have a history of being similarly not believed or cared for by the townfolk as a child over something else (which they try to gaslight him into believing never happened) and be wanting to defend and uplift his own son in a way he never had. Maybe the end of his arc would even encompass that somehow.
Buck Cluck saying “I’m supportive” without even doing anything hits me more than it should cause it reminds me so much of my dad- saying he’s supportive but not doing anything to really change other than just saying “Look at how supportive I am”
You aren’t supporting me Kenneth- youre just excusing your actions with meaningless words at this point
It’s really funny how they think that they can spend the majority of their time outside of the house and expect a child to just acknowledge that they are paying for the power and the groceries and every little thing without the context of a larger world to understand that. With them hardly ever talking to you hardly ever acknowledging your existence only really coming to speak to you if there’s a problem. They never teach you anything they never comfort you they never give you any wisdom when you’re stressed. But because they paid the power bill we’re supposed to just understand their “unconditional” love.
I'm sorry that you've dealt with a crappy self-absorbed and unaware father. I hope that now and long into the future, you'll have people genuinely care, love, support, and accept you as you are. If not now, then I hope you'll learn that it's alright to believe in yourself and be your own support system in the meantime.
The wrong people will never bother to recognize how amazing you are, how much you've improved, and/or properly show support as their heads are shoved so far up their butts. So I hope that you're not seeking your father's praise and support because based on your comment, he should not be needed or wanted. Like who the hell would take criticism from the same person you certainly wouldn't go to for advice? And who wants support from a guy that's doing nothing? I hope you're doing much better now and that you know you don't need him.
My Dad is pretty damn similar so I think I feel you man.
You’re not alone on this Dude… I know the pain very well too…
Yup. Or that parent who will clearly cross a line, say they're sorry after they've realized they fucked up, but then they just play nice long enough for you to lower your guard before being shitty again, because they clearly don't want to take real accountability and change for their kids
For something supposedly aimed at children, Chicken Little is one of the most cynical and nihilistic films I've ever seen.
It's a movie about childhood trauma and narcissistic abuse. In real life a whole town wouldn't be involved, but to a child it would definitely feel that way.

Watching Chuck be visibly annoyed/irritated and audibly sigh when he starts to speak hurt me cause thats exactly what my narcissistic parents used to do, and still do. I remember how much that used to hurt, and how it always used to make me quiet down immediately; why would anyone speak if they don't want to be heard? I remember how much it hurt my development to be taught my words/thoughts/opinions don't matter or are irritating to listen to. It makes you never want to speak again, it's completely crushing emotionally.
It can lead to like chronical depression from a young age, to condition a kid's mind into thinking they're always a burden and that their words are a chore to listen to
Same, my mom would always do that type of shit and as a result, made me have a hard time speaking with others or my own family sometimes. I just keep my words and thoughts to myself, making me feel like whenever I speak/state my opinion, I just cause trouble and I’m nothing but a burden to everyone. It really took a huge toll on me as a kid and now. I don’t understand why some “parents” do this to their own children and not feel any guilt about it
I honestly was so convinced that I worth nothing, that I tried to kill myself when I was 7 ,I survived luckily but I started hated it them since then
Im not a therapist but maybe see one because this is a wacky kids movie about aliens
Nah. It's an excellent way to form people into strong, damn near indestructible, self sufficient adults, who won't cry out of their safespaces, crying for mommy/daddy/others to take care of them in case someone on the internet hurts their porcelain feelings. It works wonders to weed out the weaklings, and I couldn't be more grateful to my parents for putting me through emotionally and physically scathing times, those who endure - emerge really strong, and it's completely worth it. I won't change a thing while raising my own kids, if anything I'll make them even more predatory so they can trample the competition and make me proud.
The sad thing is that you can kind of tell that he WANTS to be a good father, but he lets his standing with the rest of the community dictate what he should do as a parent as opposed to actually trying to find out what his son is like and what he wants to do in life.
Laughing Salesman? Finally, a man of culture.
The crazy thing about it is that the father could've gotten rid of his son, but he never did because maybe for reputation or for the father's own pride. What I mean is he wants his son to be popular, rich, famous, talented, ect. He never allowed his son to do anything he wants to do, or the father would think he will suck at that subject. My logic here is he just wants to use chicken little. Plus, the sequel to this is he is strong and popular and that tarnish his whole personally. Poor kid.

Honestly, the only likable characters who lived in that town, besides Chicken Little, was the girl duck and the fish guy. Other than that, just throw the rest of the town away honestly.
I agree. The fish guy is just a harmless background character who's likeable, and the girl duck, who's name is Abby, I think, is at least supportive of Chicken Little, and his friends are doing what the dad SHOULD'VE been doing the whole time. The really fucked up part about them making a board game, a movie and all the other merchandise directly based on what Chicken Little did, is the fact that they realistically wouldn’t have been able to do that without Chicken Little or his parent/guardian’s permission.
So there’s a very good chance that Buck *agreed* to let them make all this merchandise mocking his son and is probably getting royalties from it. He’s straight up benefitting from his son’s fame/infamy, yet he still had the nerve to constantly complain to his son about how embarrassed he is by him.
Oh fuck....

I personally don't think so. In a deleted scene with how paparazzi harassed Buck and Chicken Little a lot of it is out of their control. And remember that some time had passed since the first incident. If Buck was getting rich off of the royalties, he would've done something with all that money instead of staying in that crappy coop house with the mediocre car.

I think you’re looking a little too deeply into this stupid plot
the dad's stuck in highschool where he was loved and praised ,he couldn't grow up and actually be a good father and fulfill his child's needs , he instead chases approval regardless of the fact that his kid is sad . He's just a selfish toxic parent and I hate him .

I remember seeing this movie in theaters with my dad and getting mad at CHICKEN LITTLE because I agreed with his dad and the town at first... And then having possibly my first big self-reflection moment at realizing I hated him *because he reminded me of myself.* That sigh his dad gives when he just starts TALKING? Just talking, like anyone does? Story of my life. Don't embarrass me? Bro, that might as well have been my parents' motto! Does one good thing and gets bragged about because he's now EARNED basic parental affection? Dude...
I'd always blamed myself, so I also blamed him.
Basically, this movie fUCKED up little 9-year-old me. BLEW MY MIND. A journey to self-discovery soundtracked by Barenaked Ladies.
I can't believe I forgot Disney made a movie with mind break on it. Literal mind break like it's seen in those offbrand manga, and the resemblance is uncanny with it involving a strong willed (albeit bitchy) girl having her mind altered into the harmless defenseless victim of some overweight tall guy who seemingly wants to make her his girlfriend. I never thought anything about it when I saw this movie as a child, but as an adult, it's disturbing as fuck, probably the most cursed thing Disney has ever done.
I guess I have to at least give the writers some credit for being so innocent if they didn't realized how disturbing those implications were.
Especially him taking advantage of it, I know it might be criminal hitting a child but I would smack some sense into him if I was there right now.
@@artistanthony1007 It's so weird and genuinely disturbing when you stop to think about the implications. She could have been fixed easily but now the person she was is essentially gone forever considering how those aliens won't be coming back, and all only because some guy liked her like this and wished to leave her like that so he can take advantage of her.
It's shown in a silly humorous tone, but does very little to make the scene feel any less uncomfortable to watch. If anything the happy tone only makes the scene more bizarre.

you know if they had not included the whole Alien storyline and literally, made the entire movie a commentary on bullying and Chicken Little being the odd one out in town. As well as how social anxiety inflict a child, and the reason he says the sky is falling is do too a need to get attention as he has little to no positive interaction in his life.
But i guess making a movie like that is bit to heavy for Disney.
Be glad you didnt. It ruins your life...
Sadly I WAS the 6 year old who was in his place. =(
Buck Cluck reminds me a lot of my own dad lmao. He never ever dared to say one nice thing to me or my sister until we basically detached ourselves from him and always seemed embarrased of out personalities because they didn't fit his expectations. I didn't make the connection between them until like two years ago, my dad is the irl BucK Cluck
When I was a kid, I was very familiar with the Barenaked Ladies, because my sister introduced me to them. I was super excited to go see this movie when it came out, because she told me their music was in it. I have really fond memories of this movie, because when my whole family went to see it, we were all still living together. Then, we went to get McDonald's afterwards (No, I didn't get chicken nuggets.), and they had the Chicken Little bobbleheads.
Side note: Chicken Little is adorable, and I would adopt him in a heartbeat.
Despite how much people dump on this movie, it did strike something of a chord for me as a kid. Belive it or not, people like the protagonist actually exist and this movie is kind of validating for anyone who's experienced that kind of treatment. My Dad wanted a football player and ended up with my asthmatic self instead. I was always told to sit down and shut up in order for him to "save face," attract as little attention as possible, even when I would TRY to participate in sports just to please him anyway just for his disappointment in return. I was always looked at by the people proximal of those situations as kind of a geek and a loser. I knew exactly what it felt like to be this main character.
It's almost kind of funny that it gets so much criticism because in a meta way, the film is the "chicken little" of films that gets picked on so much.
It gets accused for the town being needlessly cruel and the father being horribly degrading but that's... kind of the point? To me, that's the most realistic thing about this movie. I've lived that experience. And ironically I think the films' strongest strength is that sort of message. That the people we go out of our way to belittle and mistreat often don't deserve it and we should be a little more considerate or supportive.
If Bionicpig sees this and is looking for more early to mid 2000s movies to review, I'd like to formally submit my recommendation for Over the Hedge. No other reason than nostalgia.
I loved watching Chicken Little and Over the Hedge, I even played the Gameboy Games when I was small. I kind of miss the movies having spin off games, that was a 2000s thing. I feel like movies today don't even have spin off games.
I get where you're coming from, and it's probably a difficult experience, but...put yourself in the shoes of your dad. Would you want to invest such a huge amount of time and effort (and in the case of mothers - health) in someone who's supposed to be strong, fit and smart, a reason to brag to your friends, your progeny that will carry on your name - only to end up with someone who disappoints your expectations? You have to understand your parents. It must be soulcrushing to watch your child grow and continuously fail to be like you know they're supposed to be.
@@beabea5985 Umm… no? It’s not the child’s fault if they’re born with imperfections, and the parent is 100% in the wrong if they emotionally abuse their child because of it. If anything I find it really gross to expect - not wish for, EXPECT - your child to be an all-star sports buff like you were back in the day. Your kid isn’t your sequel movie. They’re not “supposed to be” who you want them to be. They can be whoever they want, and so they might not be your “ideal” child. They might not even be able to do what you want them to in the first place. But that’s how life works. And if you can’t handle that, you have no business being a parent.

Can you believe the original Chicken Little was a well done, political message about how easy people fall to rumors and get wrapped up in the sinister ways of persuasive leaders, especially during WWII ?
"Buck cluck is the worst dad"
Omni man: look what he needs to mimic a fraction of my power
Hey Omniman was actually doing a pretty decent job up until he was exposed
He taught his son how to do superhero basics, reassured him he made the right choice when he knew Amber would be made at Mark, and expressed joy when Mark did well in a game he personally did not care for.
Buck Cluck was less than half as supportive as that
Nah it's Buck Cluck, he was first.
Yea but Omniman is SUPPOSED to be the way he is in his story. Buck is just shitty writing.

Man, even as a kid I felt so bad for Chicken Little
I found him relatable, which I guess just shows that I was bullied a lot ☹️
I also never understood why Buck went out of his way to drop off Chicken Little at a bus stop in the beginning of the movie when he could have just as easily drove him directly to the school to avoid all of the nonsense Chicken Little had to go through in the opening. Amazing song aside, Buck was obviously already driving him far enough away from their house, so why couldn't he just drop him off right at the school instead? Was he so ashamed of being seen publicly with his son, that he refused to drop him off a couple extra miles down the road?
And his son wouldn't loose his pants when he crossed the road and accidentally got stuck in a pice of sticky gum. He nearly got rolled over by cars who didn't saw him sitting on the road stuck to the pice of gum and Chicken Little needed the help of a lollipop to get out of the situation. 🍭
But he loses his pants in the process. 👖
Buck left him at the bus stop so we wouldn't miss all those "hilarious" perils Chicken Little goes through (after all, the movie is such a brilliant comedy *sarcasm mode*). And yes, it's extremely likely that Buck is so ashamed of his son to not wanting be seen with him in public he doesn't even drive him at school
The mayor in this movie is actually voiced by a legendary comedy actor named Don Knotts. This was one of the last movies he did before passing away in 2006.

I've noticed that they seem to treat CL's being undersized like a disability, both in and out of universe. In universe, the issue of him being as small as he is seems like it's always being tiptoed around, like "as long as we don't outright make fun of him being a shrimp, we can hold our heads high while still ridiculing him because at least we're not ablest". Buck is a former star athlete of his school days who wanted his son to be a big, burly jock like him, and is openly ashamed of having an imperfect child who apparently can't do sports. Out of universe, it's used in joke after joke until CL needs to be cool, at which point the smallness becomes a plus when he improvises, which feels suspiciously like an autistic child who is a prodigy at the piano or a talented artist as a 'silver lining' to their condition. I might be reading too deep into it, but it's just a thought that makes the town's attitude even worse.

Dude! Seriously, I appreciate your commentary in this movie. I have seen reviews where people say that they don't like the movie because it's too mean spirited but they never actually went and broke down the bits of the movie that we're so mean spirited. And looking at your comments on the movie it really has made me realize that the way the debt actually movie is just really super normalized for me and that's why I had no idea. And then that helped lead to me having a marriage with a narcissistic abuser.
I hate any time Disney tries to be self-aware; it's so cringe-worthy. The one exception in Enchanted, which at least did it in an affectionate way rather than a "gee, didn't our past movies used to be ssssoooo stupid lol" way.
. Then again this was before the whole "Disney trying to subvert Disney" trend really took off. I don't see why it needs to subvert it's self, just own it or we so cynical we can't enjoy a bit of idealistic escapism without a layer of self awareness?
Enchanted... holy crap... its been years since I've heard that name... but I didn't watch and I think that was because my mom would shut me down about a lot of things. She even went off on me when my cover got blown. What I was trying to cover up was my sexuality, because I knew she would blow her top and make it a bigger deal than what it should have been. I had no choice but to lie and say that I wasn't actually gay or bisexual. It hurt like hell. Also, Fish is my favorite character. No words, just motion and noises
Disney is the Costco of Hollywood. It makes billions upon billions of dollars from the average consumer by being nice, and doing nice things. It’s only when they stop being nice, that people begin to dislike them. Prove me wrong. I would be happy to be proven wrong. That is, however, how I see Disney.
I can only read that quote in Wabuu's voice.

I believe this is one of the earliest modern forms of writers attempting to make their character as sympathetic as possible by making the people around them as comedically cruel as possible.
Also, I am glad you pointed out what happened to Foxy, because if you weren't, I was. She was essentially lobotomized. Her fate is pretty horrific. Unironically (much like writers that do this nowadays) they gave the bully a punishment far worse than anything their "sympathetic" character goes through.

I’d say the worst part is how he actively makes his own son look insane to others
So, Chicken Little was actually an inspirational movie about how a young boy battled against his feelings of self worth despite how his town and father treated him and managed to stay true to the truth?
Yep,pretty much
What gets me about the Dad's "redemption" arc in this film is that he goes from being blindly dismissive of his son to blindly supportive. I mean, his kid is literally throwing himself into harm's way, and the father leaps from one extreme of utter neglect to the other. It's like the filmmakers weren't aware that actual attentive parenting is more than just cheering on your kid while he almost kills himself.

Chicken Little is like a very bad version of Shrek.
Dreamworks was founded by ex-Disney creatives with Shrek basically being an "Anti-Disney" movie. Disney comes around 4 years later trying to recreate the same idea with Chicken Little, and end up making a joke of themselves for acting ironically self-aware. Even the opening title is them just trying to copy-paste the opening sequence of Shrek with the psuedo fairy-tale opener.
Chicken Little felt like a Dreamworks movie and not a Disney movie, it really shows at the time and over time, and I can’t believe it came out the same year of another Dreamworks movie Madagascar, and no I don’t count Wallace and Gromit as that was made by Aardman and Dreamworks just distributed it. And this was Disney’s response that they can made CGI movies without Pixar’s help
ironic how disney made a post on twitter at father's day saying something like "family is always by your side even when the sky is falling!" and it had a drawing of chicken little and CLuck 💀
Wow, Disney has so many great father characters, and they went for Buck Cluck.😵
Buck Cluck is the worst,he's embarrassed by chicken little and tries to bog him down from his interests or anything that could draw attention and lead him to something that doesn't even interest him.
And the only time he shows pride or even really care for his son is when he succeeds like at the baseball game when he was literally embarrassed not too long ago at his attempts, then chicken little doesn't want to mess that up and hides literal evidence to prove that he wasn't crazy with the alien hexagon piece one night.
The frick,man?
That's your child.
Roosters ARE chickens, guy. If you're thinking that "chicken" means female, that's HEN. Roosters are male chickens.

Haha yea man you definitely showed him

This town feels like something out of a creepypasta about a dystopian town that has a horrifying secret.
So THATS where my dad went. He drew himself into a chicken and blue-skadoo'ed into this movie.
Fox gets lobotomised:

Back in my day chicken was the species. Hens were females, and males were roosters. And I feel offended that chicken little wasn't named Henry!

One does not simply assume a chicken’s gender.
I was about to comment that saying he's a rooster not a chicken is like saying you're (Pig) a man not a human lol.

I just wanna say, that (possibly metal) piece fell from the sky and ONTO his head. It didn’t kill him or cause any major injuries to his skull whatsoever, it just knocked him out.
Basic movie logic apparently you can get hit by random falling metal and only come out with a headache and not a skull dent or anything.
I will never let my child (if I ever have any lol) watch this film. It’s literally about an entire town bullying one character. The only message I got, even when I first saw this film in theatres, is you’re only worth what others perceive, just to feed their own egos. I especially think the father of the main character is really despicable on how he acts, allowing the whole town to treat his kid like shit while neglecting him, too. He cares more about how’s self image than his own child’s well-being. I mean, I know it’s only a cartoon movie, but this was real life, I wouldn’t let anyone - whether be one person , a group of people or a whole community - push my kid around.
I want to show it to my children, when I have them, when they're old enough, nine or ten. I'll also talk to them throughout the movie to explain why the townspeople are acting the way they are. I want to use it as an example of the toxic and narcissistic behavior that a lot of people have, so they know what it looks like.

Anyone else agree that he is slowing creating his own cinematic universe?
Imagine if someone remade the movie to be more of a drama, where Chicken Little was so severely bullied that he committed suicide at a very young age. And the movie would be centered around his friends, trying to confront the town and Little's father about.the trauma that they've placed onto him. And Buck Cluck would feel the worst of all for not standing for his son and supporting him when he needed him most.
That'll be perfect
Unfortunately in real life, people don't care, they just go on. I mean they caused it in the first place.
I would do that if i was in his place xd

Yeah, in the story of Henny Penny (which is what this movie's based on), Foxy Loxy (a male in the story) was the antagonist and ate the other characters Henny Penny was trying to convince the sky was falling.
The fact Chicken Little was originally going to be a girl makes me a little sad.
Like they could've kept the mother dead and make it so that the father is trying to raise a young girl, who's more into "masculine" activities like sports, games etc. But the town puts a lot of emphasis on the fact that people should be put into certain boxes based on how they look, and because of these standards the father feels like it is his fault his daughter is more of a tomboy.
And the whole sky is falling thing could be how the town twisted one of Chicken Little's more "masculine" interests, making her the crazy lady of the town.
edit: And now that I think about it, they could make the fox a into a parallel of Chicken Little, who has to do more masculine things because of her body type, while wishing to be more feminine. Would make a way better character arc than.... mindwashing her...
Actually the original story wouldnt have been the same at all, it would have been about Chicken Little going to summer camp and stoping literal Wolves in Sheeps clothing…..the sky falling was just gonna be an Acorn and she was Prone to Panic Attacks :| that was the original idea….if u look into it the person who came up with the original idea says this is the idea. We have a TON of TV shows and Movies from the 90s and Early 2000s showing that its okay to dress and behave how you want, one of my fav charas from that Area is from the show “Recess” and is a tomboy who also enjoys some girly stuff, not saying we didn’t(dont) need more but I am saying that that was over done at the time that’s probably why he would’ve gone with more of the story he was going to go with rather then the “single dad raising a daughter whos a tomboy and he blames himself cause she gets made fun of”
@@Myrathosghost I'm just saying they could have kept Chicken Little a girl but with the same "father tries to raise his kid without the mother" plot, but better.
The panic attacks part could also fit the rewrite since it could be the reason why the town makes her the town crazy lady, if she has a panic attack while trying to explain about her interests to everyone.
