How do you not carry a gamebit screwdriver around with you when you're buying high priced NES games? I take one with me when I go to the game store to buy $50 games.
I am living in japan currently and I saw that gold Mario in a second hand store in better condition than that one for like $50 lol the price difference in America is wild!
How does no one at this convention have a game bit? 😂 Also, you’re a mad lad for buying that from complete strangers without authenticating it… 😅 I wouldn’t spend more than $20-$30 on a cartridge without opening it up first
The real mistake was probably to have purchased a big hitter knowing that the seller didn't know himself if it was real or not ahead of time (not to mention that some sellers would simply outright lie that it's real to start with). Not sure I would ever purchase big hitters like that 'on the spot' so to speak. It'd have to be done at a store and the seller would have to open it up and we'd both look at it to make sure.
Had the same thing happened to me the guy said they just got a Hagane in they haven't put for sale no price sticker 1000 for it I told him to open and he said he couldn't
I'm not much into the retro game scene but I've been collecting my game since I was 10 years old about 29 30 years ago. I still have all my sports cards miscellaneous carbs in comic books. More than I can count of each. They do have sentimental value and I haven't touched most of them for 30 years but your channel and channels like yours have motivated me to crack the boxes open and see what I got. I'm not much of a retro game collector so I'll definitely get rid of all those in the comic books most of the cards. Thanks for the nice videos and the much appreciated.
anyone else notice thats actually the famicom gba micro with the mother 3 faceplate? lol you can very clearly see the 20th anniversary on the back.....
Some of the boards are significantly larger...thats one of the smaller ones. A lot of Koei games are larger or the ones with the famicon adapter in them etc.
They wanted the cartridge to resemble a vhs. It was an "entertainment system" not a gaming system. This was a marketing thing done because of the video game crash caused by atari. This is why the NES in the US is so different from the Japan version. The crash never happened in Japan.
Famicom (Japanese NES) shells are much smaller. One reason is that Japanese companies were under the impression that in America "bigger is better". It's the reason why the Turbografx-16 is twice the size as it Japanese counterpart - the PC Engine. Even though they basically have the same internals.
Rick walks around still with the mindset of a collector instead of a business proprietor. He should be concentrating on accumulating product rather than adding another retro kiosk to his store.
The Bonk games are great, but without checking the board, and actually testing the game on the spot I personally would not have dropped that kind of money on it. Glad it worked out in your favor in the end Rick!!!!
Goonies 2 5 screw cartridge but the b-roll footage was for the Goonies that came out on the Famicom, they're not the same game though they're similar. I can't complain though one of the main reasons I bought a Famicom was I wanted to play that Goonies.
I was at game jam south last one they had in Huntsville Alabama. And there was a guy that had a big bowl of mixed n64 games for 5 a piece and Mario party 2 & 3. They were so cheap I asked if they were repros and he said he didn’t know they were just untested. But they looked questionable, so I got them and couldn’t stop wondering and did the same thing he did and found a guy with a gamebit drive to see and sure enough both were legit just super clean like bonk was so I got them cheap as hell I was pumped
It baffles my mind you can’t tell that’s legit. Mint games exist… the pins being nice is not a red flag. Imagine a place that authenticates things for you and gives a condition number. Ita wild that a service like that is shit on.
If Rick's the earthbound guy, has he seen the japanese planners that have a whole collaboration with Nintendo for Mother planners? They're called Hobonichi planners.
Damn I remember a lot of the Pokemon items loved the Gameboy Color version but man I have never seen that Gameboy Advance version. Was that from Gen 3? Because that's a first fot me.
I don't understand how you can go to a convention and spend all that money without having a driver to open cartridges lol unless this was staged to make it suspenseful
So you think the game is legit because of the lettering and numbers on the chips? Do you know how easy it is to do that? Lol, it's wayyyyyy too clean bro. I'm sorry but I really don't believe it's authentic.
Except he’s not unless he won the lottery. It’s weird. He either has a backer he’s not disclosing or he’s in unbelievably crippling debt. And if he has a backer, great! It’s no issue cuz people get business partners all the time (Beckham!).

The Pokémon Game Boy was originally $749 and he accepted your offer of $660 cash but $750 was flashed on the screen.
It’s an Editor Riff error.
@@georgewashingmachine1 hes got a lot on his plate
Shit is scripted
He pays Riff too much.
what's the difference between $750 and $660 in the retro videogaming world?
...about $90

Its just click bait... of course he knew it was legit off camera before buying
How do you not have a game bit on your keyring or something? Elisa to the rescue!

@@jrpgwifegood job, u guys come prepared. 👍 smart.

I would of never bought it with that case. Cause that was major suspect.

It might sound crazy but I bought 2 Bonk's Adventures (loose) in one lot on Marketplace. Both were real :)
In my back yard LOL I love in Chandler, AZ but I picked up the Gameboy color CIB sewing machine here I LOVE GAME ON EXPO AND JOHN WHO PUTS THE EXPO ON
Damn I miss the $10 Game Collection and old school Retro Rick - but good for him that he is doing so well

@@sellectivecollective90s it gets worse. They have made reproduction faceplate lol so this was potentially a whole ass scam
That was making my stomach hurt! I’ve been duped with a repro, granted the stakes were a lot lower, but it’s a horrible feeling.
I always wondered why the cartridge had to be so big if the board was so small…
my wife said to me why is my board so big and your cartridge so small.

I have Bonks for NES loose and CiB. I finished the set a few years ago and have been buying CiB NES games for a while now
Congrats!🍻🎉 on getting a NES heavy hitter! Bonk is a wonderful series!
I'd love to get a Gargoyle's Quest 2 CIB one day.
Popular now a days rick, is revival of series like your 10dollars challenge
Rick has not learned the lesson of carrying a Nintendo Game bit out to any gaming convention
Because he's an idiot and not a professional salesman/collector. Just a youtuber wannabe.
Rick walks around still with the mindset of a collector instead of a business proprietor. He should be concentrating on accumulating product rather than adding another retro kiosk to his store.
You would think its a tool of the trade by now but nope...
Always thought why don't they check for authenticity. Thought they do it off camera or something.

"We never opened it up to see if it was real". Sure guys
that "mother 3 Gameboy micro" was a 20th anniversary famicom one without correct faceplate 3:50 the mother 3 one doesn't have that on the back
The label on Bonk is blurry on the bottom..if I can see it from a screen you should have been able to see it in person.
Hey rick a cool idea doing something like creating collection of video game with just 10dollars.

Genuinely baffled that two massive video game collectors don’t have a bit on them. They are so cheap and easy to carry lol
mario vs mickey cross-over especially after the mario movie, that would be a great game and movie!
Hi Rick! Just entered then PAL retro Sega megadrive, master system and NES market. Any advice? I'm a total N00B 😅

Such an awesome GBA sucks that all the cool ones came out as exclusives to the New York Pokémon store.
I'm so relieved this was click bait. I would much rather have that it was legit Bonk NES than it being a knock off 😅
Why isn't there some sort of on-site validator at these gatherings?

Man if that mother 3 faceplate was on the original red micro it wouldve been like 500$ cause the 20th anniversary micro does not go for 400
He didn’t even notice that. I thought that was going to be the mistake if he bought it
