Shout out to the people old enough to have a parent rent them a vcr for a sleepover. Younger people don't understand how much more expensive they were than later tech such as dvd came out. I think my parents vcr in the early 80s was close to $2k.
Rick great seeing you at SoCal thank you for picking up the Play It Loud denim hat at my booth! DK Math is actually fun if you play 2 player mode, great pickups!
I remember my mom renting a vcr in the mid 80s so we could watch Terminator and Gremlins. A couple of years later we finally bought on for Christmas. I’m glad we chose VHS over Betamax at the time. We got a Sharp vcr for $300 which today would be almost $800 !
Wow that pokemon yellow and gameboy color combo is the one i got for xmas totally forgot about it…i think i had it circled on the Sears Catalog Christmas edition lol
I once had a Game Axe Color. It is a portable Famicom. The screen looks a little washed and you can play NES games on it if you are able to find a 60-pin to 72-pin adapter (aka the Famicon to NES adapter) You can connect this to your TV via AV cables designed for the Sega Genesis 2/3. The same goes for the AC Adapter.
That Bally Computer, my Dad ordered one when they were first announced. It kept getting delayed and delayed, he finally cancelled the order, I was really looking forward to it. Didn't know they actually produced any.
Before my parents broke down and got a VCR in the 80s. I remember renting one from the local 7-11. They also use to rent tales and that was how I saw Ferris Bueller's Day Off for the first time.
You passed on the Crono Trigger soundtrack?!?! I bought one back in the late 90's as an Xmas gift to my little brother. He still has it! If I remember correctly, it's a 3 cd set and has 2 additional tracks that never made it to the game along with a small manual- completely in Japanese - loaded with great artwork that would later be used for creating those rare Crono Trigger figures.
Shoutout Toomba! Was a somewhat popular ps1 game because it was on a game demo disc where you could play the first like 15 minutes of it. The only memories I have of most ps1 games are the first few levels as I was a little kid in the 90’s and mom wouldn’t buy us the full games as we couldn’t afford them. Can anyone remember what those demo discs were called it’s on the tip of my tongue but can’t get to it
Rent a vcr and watch Friday all weekend. Kids these days don't watch movies let alone over and over like i did Friday and TMNT live action movies to the point i could recite the entire movie off the top.
Quick question, are youtubers able to get into the expo earlier? Not hating, just curious. I’ve only been to two expos before and the tickets I bought got me in an hour before general admission.
It's clear that Rick, Ricky, and Riff have never experienced Crono Trigger. Otherwise, they would've been drooling at seeing NES Complex's two Japanese soundtracks for that game! That's 3 CDs with 2 additional tracks that weren't included in the game and it has artwork that would become the Chrono Trigger figures that are extremely pricey today. Your loss, guys.
Sweet towel! Princess Peach with the black hair!
The super high pitched "REALLY!!!" that Rick screeches out at 2:12 needs to be a new Retro Rick meme 😂
Lmao
I have that same Tails, and Sonic too! Got it at Toys R' Us back in the 90's :)
Ricky in the DK Shirt always brings the good vibes
Dk oldies ?
This episode is on another level. Y’all are truly king nerds.
Maybe Tails was called that because he was meant to have more than 1 tail!!? 😆🤣🤣🤣
