Been waiting VERY impatiently for this to come out and you did it on my birthday of all days! Thanks to editor Riff for making me not look like a complete idiot on camera. Rick, it was a pleasure. I hope to see you again in a few months with more consoles in tow. Hope this helped the store and that everyone enjoys the treasures!
Happy birthday bro.
Such clean stuff you had there man. Crazy.
Happy Birthday man, crazy collection too!
Happy birthday Blake!! I can’t believe you got rid of your collection! This is the first time I’ve got to see the whole thing! & you’d be happy to know that Devan has got me into Star Wars but I’m still struggling to watch the first movies 😂 I’m trying!!
Happy Birthday man!
In the UK I’m here like huh that is way too little money 😂😂😂 idk if anyone else feels that way
That collection was out of this world 😮
Poor fanboy selling his amazing collection to the vulture lol, all for 15mins of fame on his favorite UA-camrs channel. He could have sold a quarter of that properly and recieved that price and still had a ton left. You can tell it's not just for money as he's happy to give things like a Fanboy for Rick's personal collection, he will be kicking himself now that it's all gone and his 15mins of fame is over. Funny video is literally almost 15mins lol
My local game store only gives 33% so 50% is actually very fair
Always such a weird combination of emotions seeing a collectors sell it all. You feel bummed that they're parting ways, excited to see everything together like a mural or museum, but happy that it gets to become part more collections and displays
it's def a bummer because you know it's going to go to a reseller but hopefully it goes to someone who genuinely wants to keep it and play it and share it to their kids.
Always a good time with Retro Rick. Damn Rick the stuff you get coming into the store. Some of these collections that these people have. Immaculate items. Very cool. And you got all that for $4,900. What a steal. Sweet baby Jesus.
Just make it a even $5000
For real, the dude traveled there. Damn
Star Wars vhs trilogy is a 100 dollar bill
anyone know how much he really got ?
i know that’s a hard question but had to be around 15k atleast
obv i think alot more just threw a number out
Can’t possibly do that, after all this guy did drive from out of state with top quality goods. 50% my ass. They will triple their money at a minimum.
Amazing collection & what a lovely down to earth man. I hope whatever hardship hes going through passes quick & he can rebuild his collection. He had great passion & knowledge of his items too.
How to get things for half price? Open a shop!
Probably the hardest way to get items cheap lol. All you have to do is run a business 100 hours a week.
Convenience factor, usually COD you're in and out.
It’s part of owning a business he has to be able to cover expenses and make a profit most things won’t sell same day they’ll take up retail space and it’ll be a slow grind to recoup. Anything us as consumers buy isn’t what it cost to make. A burger can cost you 11 dollars and only cost 2.50 to make including cost yet you won’t feel ripped off. Just simple economics
It sounds easy but imagine buying things and they sit in your store for months. You still have to pay the overall bills of the store.
So every business in the world… you think Walmart buys your milk at full price 😂
yes, you can always get your items back, but as time goes on it gets harder and harder and more expensive.
I just wanna hug that man. To get rid of all of that meant he was facing something ugly.
Much love, man ❤️
Camera man needs to lay off the alcohol first minute especially, swaying around far too much
I always love the comment cuz everyone becomes an expert and believe if it was them that they would have got 8,000$ for all that stuff when they know it’ll still be in their closet collecting dust until they die. 😂
He's gotta be in a tough pickle to sell his childhood and part of his identity for less than half of what it's worth. I hope your life turns around quick, man. Nothing lasts forever and whatever you're going through is just for a short season. Be well, friends!
dudes gotta stop selling their collections to scumbags
@@peepocozy8594 eh its a business first and foremost. Second is that its hard for most collectors to unload their collection in one go this easily so its a service to both of them imo.
I do feel bad for the dude and I am not criticizing him. I understand needing the money; I've been there, too. Not only did he sell his collection for less than half of what it's worth, but he stuck around for 6 hours + whatever driving he did. I can't even imagine wasting that much of my time to take that kind of a beating.
@@adamyeager Yeah I didn't even think about that, good point!
@@adamyeager who knows what he's going through a family member or him could need a life saving surgery and they are grabbing whatever money they can quick you never know right
Wow!! 4900 for all that. That’s insane. Some crazy good items there. Must be fun being a trader and getting so much stuff half the price.
It’s called a business
@@nicholasharron3325 well I never woulda guessed
it’s def a joke there’s no way all that would be valued for that
i’m sure this has to be a joke (your comment)
Wait though, the stuff going to the personal collection shouldn’t be at 50% right??
Its crazy when you're not interested in the hobby anymore you don't really care about getting rid of something that been with you for over a decade.
Getting rid of things is tough. But collecting is always fun. :D
People have to understand why businesses with a brick and mortar offer 50% or less. The owners are taking all the risk along with factoring overhead and cost of business. I highly doubt rick tested every single game or console. I've purchased consoles before that turned out to not be working. That's why I always start low on my offers. You have to mitigate risk.
Really love your stuff man I’m from uk I’ve just started collecting I’m watching all your vids from old to new to learn what I can haha
I would definitely go to them. Honesty goes a long way with me. Selling on eBay sucks too. Shipping and fees are crazy. Plus all of the time that goes into selling and shipping.
Somehow my local game store gives 70-80% value for trades. I think since they are the only LGS in the area their turnaround is very fast because each time I go in, a lot of stuff is gone (sometimes I go in only after a few days).
Is it actually 70-80% of value or do they just say that? Like I know a store near me that says they do 70% but then I watch them give $50 for a $400 game and laugh about it. Not saying your store is as bad as the one near me, but some people are just awful
@@angrybirdbob2881 I’m sorry to hear that about the store near you, that must be a downer. It truly is 70-80 percent at my LGS, I’ve calculated it each time. I know the manager personally and she is a wonderful individual. They really care about customer satisfaction.
That $4,900 will be gone in a heartbeat and all of that glorious collection he spent many hours days weeks months years collecting will never come back in his lifetime. So many consoles / games / peripherals etc etc are getting harder to find and are costing much more year after year. I would have spent another couple hours negotiating a better deal ffs.
I sold off a couple of my original consoles that I received as a kid many years ago only to buy them back years later and I would never do it again if I can help it. I also dont "collect". I never buy gaming stuff just because. I am not the type of gamer who purchases games for a system just to have a full list / set.. or obscure consoles / handhels just because they're rare only to collect dust sitting on a shelf. But hey, everyone has their thing.
How this guy didn't have any Sega Saturn stuff wtf lol fail
Straight facts like dis comment it hard to find good old school video games and yes cost more and more SMH
Danng RICk you r personal collection soon is going to be a museum man !!
As the man said, life gets in the way and Bills have got to be paid! He'll be back!
Im a console guy, I don't own anything good but when I see stuff like the PC Engine with cd attachment, a Lynx, game gear (mine needs capacitors) bags of DMGS and GBAs... it's like heaven.
He got ripped off 💀🐕💩🐕💩🐕💩🐕
He did not get ripped off. He knew what he was doing. This saved him time and energy and he could have said no to the offer. He wasn’t forced to accept it.
Shitttttttt lol
Yep! I think alot of the comments here are from younger viewers. At the end of the day, everybody values things differently. When you get older, people just value time more. To some its not worth the work and time it would take to sell it seperately.
I want the Turbo Man action figure with the arms and legs that move and the boomerang shooter and his rock'n roller jet pack and the realistic voice activator that says *five* different phrases including, "It's Turbo time!" Accessories sold separately; batteries not included.
Whose ready for may 6th and may 7th in ontario killa California , for the retro gaming expo, can't wait to see all you guys.
That's a INSANE collection!
Ripped that poor guy off man. That's scummy.
@@gertywhatagash_ SMH lol
This channel really proves that you can buy things with money.
😂😂😂
All it takes it time, patience, relationships, trading, and yes, a little bit of money. But not lots. That's five years of collecting.
And hustle when people are down
@@joshnewman6667 he runs a game store not a charity 50% market value is what any other retro game store or online store like chance after the right price will pay. He could of sold it on ebay but would of taken a long time.
@@oisinmckellar3046 or what not dont forget phoniex re sale, or pixel game squad, morts garage
You can’t give the guy an extra $100 for gas money. Comon man take care of him.
Hey Retro Rick... You could've been a decent human and gave this guy more money you know? Don't care if he was "happy" with the deal. Youre honna gonna nake one hell of a profit from this guys generosity basically.
Pretty grimey of you honestly. You know what they say about karma right?
Beautiful collection. The man cave one could design with all those toys.
Im just commeting because i know that dude irl and im bored
I know what you did last summer lol
@@blakeromo Hello romo
I think I was the only kid at my school that knew about Keith Courage because I had a friend across town that actually had a Turbo. What a time.
Star Wars Walmart shirt 7.99!
Sweet stuff
I just couldn't imagine selling my collection in a store like this... Of course I'd never be able to do so due to it's size and value, but still....
Hopefully he really needed the money for some reason otherwise i don't get it.
Keep it all until you die and let your kids sell it all for a bag of weed.
Ikr I can't do it I'm sorry
maybe stop outright telling people you’re only gonna offer them 50% of the market value for their stuff. I’d be kind of insulted and potentially walk away just in principal.
its better to be honest imo lol
You must be new to this stuff then
Remember 50% value which in this case didnt even seem 50% for what was a huge chunk of stuff he claimed was going in his own personal collection…
He’s a game store, games store usually do 50%. That’s a general rule among all stores. They’ve got to pay employees and pay for the store. Small sellers can give more as they’re paying for themselves, not a giant store. You think Walmart pays 70-80% of value for your milk? 😂
Cope.
Wow a straight up holy grail collection. Wish the best for that man!
So I get buying stuff for your store so you can resell. But how is it fair that you get to pay 50% of the value and than keep it for your personal collection like you said? Just cause you are retro Rick? I’m so confused
Because he’s Retro Rick. These highly successful people who get big followings continue to act like they are broke unfortunate people. Takes advantage of his position hard core.
He would probably just buy it from the store. Then again he did pay for it, so it’s his now
@@TriWaZe Like you know him
@@babecat2000 I mean kinda do. He only documents his life online for all to see and he does it time and again but sure
Lol
When he said the super nintendo hurt the most i felt that in my sould i had life issues had to sell 160 games none of these were sports or your typical commons so it really hurt
that was fun to watch, the store looks amazing
Love the use of the DBZ Buyuu Retsuden music at 4:00! That game's soundtrack is insane.
Sometimes I feel like Rick says "a lot of this is going in my personal collection" just so that the seller feels like the price is more reasonable. Kinda like Caleb, Phoenix Resale, did with the "Gamecube Collection of his childhood dreams." Idk though. I don't know the guys personally so it's not fair for me to say that, but it's the vibe I get. Really at this point I only watch this channel and Phoenix Resale because Riff's editing is the shit! Pixel Game Squad = GOAT!
The difference is that Rick actually has a huge collection filled with stuff from years of collecting. Phoenix resale just did it for the money for awhile
@@angrybirdbob2881 They are or at least were two different types of channels. Phoenix Resale is a resell youtube channel. He built a collection of his "childhood dreams" and said he would likely sell it in the beginning but keep the stuff he cherishes. Rick is more of a collecting channel but has more of the reseller components with the addition of his store.
@@Miji43 Rick always had reselling components. That’s why the $10 game challenge grew his channel so much. He was just more down to earth with collectors than Caleb has ever been. I like both channels don’t get me wrong, but Caleb has never felt apart of the actual collecting scene
@@angrybirdbob2881 I agree and it’s just two different approaches collecting vs reselling as the focus. Granted I’ve enjoyed watching phoenix’s channel grow over the years because I feel like he’s learned to enjoy collecting and gaming. Something he said he hasn’t done much in his past.
Where’s your store?!? I want to come down and see it.
Conway, Arkansas. There are many videos of it on the "The Retro Life" channel.
If there was one collection I wish I could get back it would be my SNES that got carelessly tossed away by one of my relatives when they moved in to my grandmothers (I had it there so I had something to do when I'd stay the nights over).
From Iowa here!! One day I will visit your store. One day Rick. Thanks for an awesome video.
Thanks 🙏 for the video it was something to look forward to after being sick all day from 5am to 5pm throwing up 15 times throughout the day. I was able to focus on something else at point and catch my breath 🙏
Blake’s voice sounds like Christian Slater. I had to do a double take at the screen.
“Honey wake up! Retro Rick just uploaded a new video”🍿🔥
Dang that is awesome! I would've loved to see the dreamcast games he brought in. But shoot u got so much i'd been overwhelmed too LOL!
lolllll get it back later what land are u living in bud they don't make this stuff anymore only emulator crap not real deal and it's just getting harder and harder to find carts and systems just look at pixel squad was only hunting now its talk about hunting that is horrible and possibly because way less is out there
Shout out retro Rick I'm Chad shouting out from Greenville NC
Hey Retro Rick, Great Trade. Your Store is looking Awesome.NEED MORE VIDEOS PLAYA. Take care and keep it Retro homie. Watching a lot of the other guys now, but I miss your vids bro. PCE 👊🏾🎮🎮🎮🎮👊🏾
My 3rd cousin have that Atari that looks like Atari 2600 that was said bought 70s or 80s. That gameboy pocket gray was i think we considered original and common here in Philippines around early 90s-early 2000s. Usually the only one's who can buy it was either rich or their fathers are working as marine engineers or what we call seaman here in Philippines. When I was in my grade school days we used to play in a gaming house with all Nintendo SNES consoles and the most popular games were play are mortal kombat and killer instinct then came playstation and number 1 was Tekken 3.hehe..
Blake knows his stuff!
Hey Retro Rick. I sold a really rare obscure DS game a few weeks ago and way curious as to what had happened to it. It was Little Bears for the DS.
Too much talking over each other. That’s a pattern with this channel. Not the owner mostly the people who come in. Everyone’s talking over each other. Waiting to talk it’s like listening to people on coke talking.
Blake brought some heat!
That hat trips me up. When I was overseas, the G word was the same as the N word
Edit: Seems it's different here though, so I'm not trying to start drama. Just pointing it out!
He paid $4,900 for the collection but has to pay less than it's worth since he's running a store. What's the real value of all that stuff?
Nice find with Keith Courage. Fun fact it's actually an Amercianized version of a japanese anime called Mashin Hero Wataru. Wataru appeared in another game we never got over here called Super Robot Wars X.
8:34 that felt very disrespectful throwing that box of games down like that!
Its so sad seeing this. There had to be another way to deal with whatever he was going through. Maybe its just me but even though he seems super chill about it the way he talks about the items in detail he is devastated to have to be doing this. God id give anything for my childhood console and gaming collection back. Lost in a storage unit out of state when my mother passed away.... Had many many grails. All to play though im not into collecting just to collect dust.
Another Monday, Another Retro Rick
$4,900 dude got ripped to the core.
Estimates 8k just for most of the games. Had to have been several more thousand in hardware. Def a steal and a half
Was looking for a comment saying this, man got robbed
That's how it works if you just want to get rid of everything quick
Ricks son got a sweet Atari Lynx though
Go cry to your momma. If he really wanted to make more money he could of easily put all that crap on ebay.
Okay. Enough is enough. I've been waiting for this dude to post ACTUAL videos of spontaneously finding treasure. Instead, he still posts "set up" videos. Look at this one for example....dude is selling to Rick in someone else's game store. Really!? Unsubscribing now. This has turned into the CNN of the gaming world.
There's no way he can't just listed the most rare items and make at list 4K, and list the rest as a bundle and make another 3500, easy.....our even spend one aftermoon in a local convention our retro video game market....I can't believe how people spend all this time and effort to collect and let go for so little.... just to be on UA-cam....we real collector and specially player....love and hate....see video on UA-cam where people take advantage of the situation....bad Rick really bad....love your content keep posting more videos where you us your fame and influence to rip off gamers....
Did this guy sell his whole collection so he could get on the show again an be "friends" with Rick? I wonder how many people do that, or try to do that. Imagine thinking you love watching this channel, Rick's so cool, blah blah. I know so much about him we are basically already friends! I bet if I ransom a sweet deal for my whole collection I could get Rick to talk to me. We'd hit it off. Now I jist need to drive 15 hours!!! Definitely worth it, awesome idea!!
I *WANT* that Japanese Gameboy Pocket!
Good video... BUT moving the camera in and out constantly..... irritating to watch. I actually get a little dizzy. Just my thought.
A good friend of mine lost his 1k collection in storage this month because of his family. Looks like a lucky bidder is going to get lucky. He sent me an E-mail saying. "It took me so long, 26 years of my life gone like that because my family kept me away from it. I'm done." I'm so sorry for you Charles.
And I’m 14
I’ve been dying to have one of these for myself for quite a long time 😢
My friend has the dmg-01 Gameboy.
If you can please comment on my comment! To let me know if it’s a yes!
Part 1 of asking for a Gameboy
PS. Keep up the good content
4900? That dude just gave all that away basically. Sucks to be in a spot where you have to accept way less then half value for your stuff. Hope things get better for that guy. Congrats on ripping that guy off I guess? LOL.
That is a hell of a collection!!!
Ok ok ok wait wait wait 4800$ how did you hornswoggle that deal Rick? He said at the start he had over 8000$ worth of games listed and a bunch that werent . I guess id just have to take your word for it but good freaking buy and good dreaking collection respect
1st viewer! I will come see your store in Conway soon!
brah the pc engine im jealous i wouldn't sell thaaat at all
hey retro rick....i love ur chanal ....when the play station came out there was a not well known console called panasonic 3do was the systems name
have u ever seen it??i ended up getting that cause the store was out of playstation 1 so i go the panasonic 3DO....check it out ..
Min 8:19 You can see the pain in his eyes, I feel for that dude. Rick you should have payed him the $5k + Star wars VHS AND your first born child
Dont let the IRS hear you buying inventory for your house with corporate funds :) Better "Owners Equity" that stuff then.
Getting rid of a collection would suck but id imagine it would also allow you to buy back a more cherry picked version later, we all accumulate some purchases we arent that bothered about.
Imagine simping for a youtuber so hard that you sell them your stuff for half its value. 😂😂😂😂😂
Love you Rick but that guy is so indenial and in shock lol. Hes not gonna care for his ps3, switch or anbernic device. The memories of his collection will haunt him daily haha
fatality................. absolutely brutal
i cant believe he even got rid of all of his playstation 2 and switch games. he should have kept them if was keeping those consoles
I like your videos better you don't rip people off like resell guy he says he needs it people give it to him the he resells it his ass hole i wish he gets band boot good job you lot fun to watch
I bought a dreamcast on release day too with my money I saved from my first job. I have a picture of me holding it with the date in the corner, 9-9-99.
I bought mine on that same day from the orange park mall in Florida. I played it for 10 minutes and returned it for a refund.

A great collection and man got robbed… I know profit has to be made but damn man…
I mean, my physical collection, while I love playing that way, pales in comparison to my rom collection. I never understood the issue. I suppose with the switch, I can understand the argument, but if you're in financial hardships, just download roms of older games. You're not taking money from the company. They stopped selling it.
