For a guide on how to run a macOS VM on an Intel-based Mac, check this video instead: ua-cam.com/video/CNQjPLSt9Mc/v-deo.html

Currently using parallels to run a virtual Sonoma on my MacBook Pro M2 Max. It’s a bit sluggish when trying to run programs within that environment. I will have to try your suggestion see if it works quicker many thanks for the video excellent stuff.

Thanks for the nice feedback. Next one that I plan is about running a macOS VM on a Windows PC, which makes things a bit more complicated.

This sounds great. Looking forward to the follow up on Intel Macs. Have a great setup on an Intel Mac running El Capitan with software that would have to be repurchased (at huge expense) if I upgraded beyond High Sierra. Love your videos. Thanks

Do you know how to change the "Apple Virtual Machine 1", to look like a normal macbook? thanks...

Has anyone tried this on an M1 Pro, and does it allow us to use older MacOS versions on the VM, like Monterey, Big Sur, or even before those?

Using UTM you can officially use anything that is macOS 12 and higher. So starting with Monterey. I covered that in the end of the video as well. I did try it with an IPSW of Big Sur but UTM gives you an error message: "Your machine does not support running this IPSW".
