  • Convolution reverb is now part of Live 11, and whilst the tech has been around for decades, I decided it was time to have a go using underwhelming impulse responses I recorded myself using household objects.

*Although there were parts where it was hard to follow through, my Hybrid Reverb tastes delicious now, thank you! **17:27*

Glad you found this! I've come across this technique through mr.bill some time ago.
It becomes a lot of fun if you start importing sounds like shattering glass and so on. There is a lot to explore!

Ned made “ahhhhhhhh” sounds that should “never be made on UA-cam” and wants $5 on his Patreon for you to download them.
    I’m in!

Lots a takeaways in this video, the biggest one being is don't worry about being able to record at high quality, because low quality recordings provide the most epic stuff.

Not enough love for the Gated Toaster Reverb. I bet it would sound great on some 80's drums.

One of my favorite convolutions was using a sample of the rainy day I recorded as the reverb - it isn't much of a reverb, but it adds a really unique dripping quality to the sound I'm sending through it. Especially just a bit of bird song coming through - a really cool sound design tool.

Cool experiments, really hoped u would have used multiple convolution in series and use IRs that aren't proper IRs at all but random sounds crafted (or trial and errored) to make suited.
And if vocoder with noise can often improve on drum/perc I figure so should convolution but I haven't dived deep in yet.

It's fun to experiment with any sound as a "reverb". A snare drum, distorted guitars, farts...

Try cranking the feedback in the lower left corner and then automating the predelay.
