Thank you for watching! ❤
Thanks Mike 🙏 always excellent reviews! Have a wonderful holiday!!
Thanks again for the support 🙌🏻 happy holidays Nathan!
Awesome review Mike! Also my racquet of choice since 6 months ago! Love the power and spin, while maintaining decent control. While the stability is quite decent stock, I added a leather grip + 9g in the handle + 0.5g at 12 and it plays even better especially against bigger hitters! You are right that CA uses this version, however FAA uses the previous generation with a box beam design along with a “Babolat Aerostorm” head shape.
Sounds like you got yours setup just perfect! Ooops sorry, but I know the comment section has my back when I mess up 😅 thanks for the correction iceman!
What did you string this with? String model, gauge, and tension. I strung at 46 /42 with RPM Blast 17, and love the feel and control - but it's a little tough on the elbow.
Mine is the 2017 model PA VS. Everything you said applies to mine. A very solid stick IMO. Mine weighs 331 grams strung, w/dampener and no over grip. 2017 was the year they were painted lime green and black and I couldn’t take that green so I got the red, white&blue flag paint job. Not too stiff for me so no wrist, arm or elbow issues but some people complain about that with these so think about that. You might try that brand new V Cor set for January ‘23 release for sale. Its getting very good reviews Mike.
Thanks for sharing Kim. I’ll definitely have to try the new vcore mine are getting pretty beat up haha. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your review!
No problem Javi I hope it was informative. Thanks for watching!
Hi! Thanks for the review. It would be cool if you could compare it to the new Aero 98.
Btw I like your shots, they are so natural and relaxed! How often do you usually brake strings (if you do)?
Hey thanks so much for the kind words Villiam and great suggestion! I don’t break strings that often, I’m using the Dunlop black widow string which is pretty durable so usually I just end up cutting them from being loose instead of waiting from them to break
Is a new version coming out soon? And would you say that the PAVS is for players above the 4.0/4.5 level?
I haven’t heard anything about a new version yet but they tend to update every couple years. I’d say they had the 5.0+ player in mind when coming up with this one but no reason you can’t use it at 4.0 and 4.5 if you like it, especially if you’re someone with good fitness and strength. Prob wouldn’t recommend for juniors though.
I also play with PA VS .. in my experience, it is noticeably less powerful than a pure drive .. it's also super maneuverable so you have more time to load and unload the whole body. It's amazing on the forehand but the backhand is so-so. It definitely requires good technique, usage of legs, and prefers atp style forehand. It will not work for the one who just wants to arm the ball.
My raquet of choice and your synopses is 💯. Very demanding stick imho. High intermediate frame and above only
Great take on it Alexander, thanks for sharing! Do you hit a flatter shot or heavy top spin?
@@fingersm definitely needs solid technique and strength. Thanks for the input Francesco!
@@MikeKomen as far as I can see my forehand is similar to yours...so top spin with active\passive pronation during the contact :) looks, good man! thanks for the video can't wait for PA 98 2023 review.
Good video, I am a person who hits the ball hard but flat and it is difficult for me to lift, I always fight with the net and so that the balls do not come out in the background because I hit very flat. Which racket can be better for me, a racket with a spin 16x19 type pure aero or Vcore 2023, or a control racket with a thin frame type Wilson Blade v8?
If you’re a flat strong hitter I’d recommend you try the new pro staff 97
Great looking racquet. Thanks for the review. Maybe Santa will bring me one 😉
I hear they play even better when they come from the North Pole
thanks for video. i wanna see your review of pure strike vs 2022
Thanks so much! New videos coming soon
How does this vs compare with the vcore 95?
Have you tried the new vcore 95?
I think vcore has bigger sweet spot than other rackets and are more solid.
I hit with topspin and a one handed backhand.
Would you recommend the vcore 95?
Hey Adriel, I’ve tried the last two versions of the vcore 95 but not the newest one that just came out. Compared to the last two I’d say the sweet spot is about the same but you get a bit more power with the aero. The spin and control I liked better in the vcore. I also found it easier to use. Hope that helps!
@@MikeKomenplayed with vs 2020 and the latest vcore 95 and no way the sweetspot is similar. Babolat is easier to play. Vcore 95 is to near pro level, while the babolat can be use by a good intermediate.
Great intro 🤗
Thank you!!
I like the styling of this racquet a lot! Unique
Very sleek, seems well put together too compared to some other bobolat racquets.
How is it a 7 for maneuverability when the swing weight is so low as compared to, for example, pure strike 18x20, which is 330+. Also its a very aerodynamic racket which you mentioned yourself in the video. SMH
I have both, this and the banana pure aero, like both, but for clay I prefer the pure aero, easier power and spin and put away balls, when I play on hard court I normally use the Vs
That’s a good idea! Do you find you need adjustment time when you switch racquets?
Toronto guy here. Which indoor courts are you playing at?
Hey John, mostly at Tam this season
I'm trying to play with this frame but is not working for me , for the moment I play better with my Aero pro Drive original. Much more feeling.
What differences did you notice between the two?
Much more feeling, more power , easy to feel the pop when you hit the ball.. I hit hard with the VS but not too much power and any Connection in the feel ,but good for the servs and for the elbow.
I put a leather grip and sole lead at 12 (4g ) plays much better doesn't feel like a toy anymore
@@alainabdul it’s amazing what a big difference small changes like a grip can make!
Thanks!
Thank you!!! ❤️🙌🏻
I also just play-tested the Pure Aero VS. Also think it's a very nice racket. Just not switching material for me.
Btw. I actually switched from the RF97A to the new T-Fight 305 ISO now. Maybe review this newer T-Fight from this year too.
I’ll do my best to get a review in for it Myrko. What did you like about it that made you switch?
That is pretty interesting, since the T-Fight is the best racket for my one-handed topspin backhand, which is usually the most difficult shot in my arsenal (where I have a higher error-rate than I like). I put some lead at the bottom of the handle to balance it a bit. So my topspin OHBH transformed from a potential weakness opponents like to exploit into a potential weapon now, where I have a higher consistence with . In summary the T-Fight also has very good plow-through (which I always loved in my RF97A) but also a bit more manoeuvrability from the baseline as well as at the net. This together made it a better racket for me with improvements but almost no disadvantages to my old one. That said, I still sometimes enjoy playing with my RF97A too.
That’s awesome, now you’re really making me want to review it!
Try the Pure Strike VS 2022 and compare both. 😊 Good review.
I tried to get it but it was out of stock :( hopefully I can try it soon! Have you tried it?
@@MikeKomen I actually haven't tried it yet but the specs are what I always wanted. Even though I have not tried it, I am switching to it. LOL. It was on sale on black friday which rarely goes on sale. I told myself before, if it will go on sale then I would buy it. My racquet of choice before was the Prestige MP 2019 together with the burn fst 99.
You gotta let me know what you think after your first hit with it!!
@@MikeKomen Sure. Maybe after Christmas.
@@MikeKomen So an update after hitting for 2 hours (4 sets of doubles). I can say that I am suprised with the power that I can get with the racquet, even with a full bed of poly. Some video reviews say that it is a low powered racquet. But coming from the prestige MP 2019 and burn fst 99, I would say that it has more power and spin than both. Sometimes my ball goes long just because I was not used to the racquet yet. It is for sure a controllable power in my opinion. There was no customization with my racquets and both were strung at 48lbs which is my go to tension.
I really want to get my hands on one and switch from my wilson blade
Hopefully some at the club that you play has one you can try. I’ve heard they are hard to find to demo. Thanks for watching Malachi!
I absolutely love this racquet. However, I can only last 6 consecutive hitting session before it hurts my elbow. Hopefully it’s successor, the Pure Aero 98 will be a tad more arm friendly.
Nothing worse than a racquet that you love to hit with but can’t because of injury. I wonder if there are any customizations that can be made that could help with that? 🤔
@@MikeKomen I’ve tried taped weights, arm friendly copolys at 48lbs, multis, etc but unfortunately no. It’s a cycle of hitting incredibly with it for 6 sessions, put it down for couple months, repeat over two years but nothing. It’s the material resonances in Babolat stiff frames that seem to transmit to my arm repeatedly. I want to love them so bad but can’t : )
Thanks for sharing! I’m sure your comment will help people when they’re making a decision about this racquet
@@eloneatmyshortsHave you tried adding some weight to the handle? I fixed the shoulder pain I was getting from my Pro Staff 97 by adding 20g silicone to the handle. Paradoxically, the extra weight made it easier to swing because it made the racquet more headlight.
Augier use the ancient vs not this one
Hey Mike, what courts are those? Tam Heather?
Hey Jason this video was in Pickering but I play Tam too!
Other good Reviewers confirm that, as you say, the racquet plays heavier than it a normal 305. But to say, "it has excellent plow-thru because of the swing weight" sounds a bit exaggerated when the SW is only 321. I'm not saying it doesn't have plow. But if so, it has to something else, like the twist weight or the recoil weight, or maybe you added a little lead at noon...
I didn’t add anything to this one. You should check it out, really fun demo! Thanks for watching Brandon!
Hi Mike, how does it compare to the previous Aero VS for you?
Hi Johan, unfortunately I haven’t tried the last version but hopefully someone in the comments has tried both and can help us out!
Thanks Mike, I play with the previous version. Fantastic racket!
Aliassime uses old babolat pure storm. Completely different racquet. But the paintjob is same, so "same" racket.
Thanks for the info Martin!
he uses the neon pure aero vs, not the pure aero vs storm
My complaint about this racquet is the small sweet spot.
Just so you know alíseme uses the older squared hoop model
Ah thanks for the info Carlo! And thanks for watching!
Rune made it even harder to find.
Huge year for him!
I GOT THREE Of them. Good racket but really fragile
Wow way to commit! Have you broken one already?
I don't know who needs to hear this, but this racquet will not make you hit like Alcaraz.
😂 100% I mean I don’t think anyone can hit like alcaraz ☄️
@@MikeKomen I remember a lot of used PAVS on the market after he won Miami and the clay tourneys. Clearly people had bought them and discovered that it’s not an easy racquet to use - he just makes it look effortless.
How do you know Carlos uses this racket? Cause they have the same paint job? 😂
I tried to look it up it said he uses a slightly customized version based off this mold by babolat.
His Wimbledon stringer said his frame is almost a stock frame. The interview is with the tennis mentor.
not affordable to everyone
Yeah quite expensive especially when buying the pair. Could be okay second hand?
I just cant get over how ugly every single babolat racket is. Its cool for like 2007.... But go Carlitos go!!
😂😂 they desperately need a refresh! Thanks for watching Joshua! I have him a little heat but I love to watch him play too
hahah I guess that can be really different person to person as I really prefer the more intricate design Babolat puts out as opposed to the boring 2 colors divided by one line thing Wilson and Head are doing. But to each their own I guess.
Haha that’s why I have to stress before the Mike Score that it’s just my opinion. I love the look of my red vcore but other people hate it. As long as you like your own racquet that’s all the counts :)
Dude the Pure Aero Rafa is one of the best ever cosmetic-wise. But of course looks can be subjective
@@MikeKomen Yeah it is definitely true that it is most important that you like the look of your own racquet!!
My complaint about this racquet is the small sweet spot.
Quite different from the standard pure aero. How did you find the overall experience with the racquet?
