Sooo, the diff locks probably didn't help. However, 15 tons at 90 miles an hour probably wouldn't turn regardless of diff locks anyways. BTW, most MRAP type vehicles have armored undersides with a V-shaped hull to deflect explosions. Probably would have helped protect the pressure tank and fuel tanks on the earlier runs. They are (in)famously top heavy though.

Really enjoy these Stop The Beast videos. Have you considered one combining this with the pit maps where you start at the bottom, have to get to the top, and the filming crew starts at the top and has to prevent you from getting there?
Every time he said how bad the steering was I kept saying turn of the diffs. Turn them on if stuck off when not. Most car guys understand what diffs are and how diffs work right?
This is not one of my favorite video series when Alex wins; driving around for ten minutes without any problems, but I really, really like it when Alex loses, because it's much more interesting to see how the guys wear him down and eventually defeat him, whether by flipping, destroying his wheels, hurling themselves at his engine, etc.
Tonight: Alex discovers the beast with the most anticlimactic horn yet. Joe & Amy do their best compact compact impersonation. And Ewan experiences the Failrace BeamNG experience for the first time.
Something I've noticed from stress testing this car when it released, the engine is just about indestructible. I drove it *hard* for like 45 minutes while it was overheating without a radiator, it lost a bit of power but was fine. I also tried various collisions to try and break the engine, and while I could damage it, the only thing that'd break the engine is having a collision violent enough to tear the engine from the chassis lol.
Btw the base MD Series is strong enough to be a beast. Just switch to the default suspension, put the "Low Suspension Setup" on them, then put the smaller wheels and tires on. After that, put the front guard on. These wheel and suspension changes make the vehicle low enough that it is impossible for the pressure tanks to be hit directly, and also make it so that you can use the front to ram cars rather than climb over them. The only downside is you cannot get 4WD and the back is a little slidey. But it shouldn't be a problem since you can no longer get scooped. You could also remove the bed so that you fling cars with the rear wheels rather than crash-welding them, but it exposes the pressure tanks and fuel tanks.
The scintilla or whatever it exactly was with its fridge-sized engine hanging out occasionally showing up was probably the highlight of the video for me, cars like that are hilarious. This beast does look like it would rival the semis for wheel-flipping goodness, but I think your chasing crew is getting more coordinated at targeting your wheels (or, as their videos will likely show, they manage it off of blind luck while talking about movies or something). Kind of surprised we didn't see too many cars trying to wedge themselves right under the middle of it; seems like a big weakness that while it could likely climb out of that situation it might be slowed enough to get boxed in. I don't think the locked differential is worth it once your tires are completely gone. Seems like the turning capabilities of unlocking it would serve you better after that.
I created a short 4WD offroad version with max-raised suspension. It works well for backing up and chewing body-parts of cars chasing me, especially Bolides and Scintillas ;)
Alex I once drove a tractor, to tow a boat (on a trailer) out of deep swamp like mud hooked up and went to pull and due to the swamp like mud one wheel span I engaged diff lock (it's an OLD leyland) and with allot of abuse and swearing it pulled the damn boat out and I then went to turn. Full lock and I kept going straight.... to make matters worse i think I'm the only person this decade to have used diff lock and it was well LOCKED I had to lever the foot pedal with a crowbar to disengage diff lock... Long story short dont lock em unless you need em locked! (Ps I know it's a game etc but the point is the same)
Unless you're towing or carrying a heavy load, you absolutely do not want to upgrade the brakes in that truck. Also with most of the weight over then nose steering should be fine with diff locks on so long as 4wd is on, (you only lose a tiny bit of turning circle and some high speed stability). Should make sure understeer assist is off since oddly enough it gives you understeer and assists with nothing. Worst setting in the whole game.
Holy crap....... do you listen to your own comments from a round when upgrading to the next? Traction issues? Overheating issues? Bah! Keep adding power.
Alex: Locks the diffs
Alex:
Alex: Why am I getting so much understeer?
Diffs because physics!
Aren´t there limited slip diffs available for that thing? Those could be better for the beast.
Also Alex: I know what'll help, wider tyres on tarmac to go along with my 3 locked diffs.
"This car has crippling understeer"
Meanwhile all the diffs are locked 😂
The failrace classic of locking up diffs on Beam and then complaining about lack of turning.
Traditions lol
Yeah I think locking the front diff isn't helping him here.
Alex: i don't want to go into the city
*Alex turns into the city when not forced*
...... ah, yes, that's why i watch this channel :D
Alex proving that all wheel drive is only really helpful when you have all wheels.

Alex, when are you going to learn you can just press ALT + D for diff locks on command and be able to turn the rest of the time?
I am pretty sure he plays with a controller. He can obviously bind that to the controller though.

You would've had so much better steering with the front diff unlocked 😅
‘My steering is dicey’. that would be because of the front diff lock 🙄
I was mentally screaming to myself every time Alex complained about the steering "unlock the diffs!!"

That MRAP might be my new favorite beast
You could always lock the rear diff and leave the front open, that way you get good steering and decent power delivery

In the vehicle config Make sure your front differential gear is one click lower than the rear it will give you alot more turning authority.
Honestly, it looked like you did more damage with the rear end bouncing like that than NOT having it bounce. :D
Those MRAP front wheels make the steering a little harder to control.
That's a lot of damage 🤣
As soon as the update came out I was looking forward to this.

Good god man, UNLOCK those diffs unless you need them
someday your going to have to do a beast vs. the beasts... right?
9:30 you had your parking brake on or is it because of the pressure tank
Pressure tank forces the brakes to lock when it fails.
the air pressure holds the brakes open so when you lose the air pressure they lock. its a safety feature on heavy duty trucks
7:36 max verstappen in the green car there
Did you give your pc a upgrade as wel? What are you running?

Diff locks don't work on tarmac😊
They work just fine, as long as you want to just go straight.
The pressure tank needs to be moved to the bed of the new MD Series truck.
Do stop the beast with the 8x8 big rig (made by crash hard)
Amy needs to cool it with honking all of the time. It's really obnoxious.
anybody know what he js using to display the HP weight etc
Please tell me what the UI mod that shows the power is.
Simple power, weight ratio (or something similar). It's on the beam repo.

I HATE the MD series for one reason: Those front inner fenders ALWAYS dislodge and get caught in the wheel and screw up steering.
