  • Matthew 5:13-16
In response to the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, we celebrated the protection of life with a deep sense of sobriety. The work to care for women, children, and families continues to be a space where God calls His Church to enter into as salt and light.
We exist to love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus Christ.

I listen to your sermons often Matt Chandler, even though this is not recent, its worth sharing.
This message truly solidifies the fact that you are a phenomenal, spirit filled teacher who's filled with compassion and love. God bless you, keep on going

I love that you find balance of The Word and practical ways to apply these passages to life today for people of faith and people w/out. You go far more in depth in The Word than so many of these millionaire pastors of today. More Matt's needed!!!

I would largely agree with this message. Matt is definitely a mentor to me over the last 10 years and I admire him a lot, except for the portions where he goes woke and buys into the national media narrative. But he is so faithful and true on the large scale. I think this message was important. But the way I typically sum it up for people is as follows. I am so thankful and grateful for the ruling recently. It is right and good and correct. But the law cannot change the heart. So therefore the church cannot sit back and say the law has done away with abortions in many states. The fact is there are still scared mothers and the church needs to welcome them. The young ladies comments were very effective and she executed very clearly and well. My only caution is, I think a lot of good moral people have been slandered because they are simply pro-life. I do not support hanger or name calling or chastising of scared pregnant women. But I also know of a lot of people who stand outside abortion clinics who have the same heart as Matt has. Gentle, caring, appealing to save the life of a child and a mother. So when the movement at large is castigated as hateful in spiteful, I would disagree with that and message. I personally do not know anybody in my life, and I came from a very fundamental home, that would cast out an unplanned pregnancy or a woman who made a poor decision. So therefore, I think the movement gets a very bad name because of the very few people that act inappropriately. And they're inappropriate behavior pushes people like the woman who spoke to speak out against the pro-life movement, when in reality the movement is not only about life but about women and supporting mothers and fathers and doing it in the most loving way possible. My local Women's Center does that very well and they should never be corralled into the same category as terrible spiteful people who call themselves Christians who want to shame and judge the pregnant unwed mother.

Is this sermon available in print? Possibly on the Village church website. This is simply the best sermon to help guide believers in discussion with the pro-choice crowd.

Are you willing to say the woman choosing an abortion is in sin? And willing to name that sin? Should we as the church push to make it a punishable crime to kill your baby? Or do we nuance that until we are back where we were before?

Those 2 topics aren't related at all lmao... you need to stop watching the news network you are consuming. Just a recommendation... take it or leave, and I'm not a gun pusher nor do I ever talk about them or spend money on them. We leave that up to the rap artists and politicians of today.

I am pro life AND pro the right to bear arms. They are very very different issues when talking about abortion and gun control.
I live in a very rural area where a walk takes the preparation of a gun I can carry in my pack or bear spray I can easily get to. It is ignorant to say pro life means take away guns. I protect my life, my grandchildren, and my pets from being attacked. Not only that… the very first human murder was committed with a rock (Gen 4). Are we going to legislate the removal of rocks? Guns are not the problem… people that are broken and sinful are the problem. Jesus is the only answer for these issues…
