The aluminum spool is designed for braided line. The graphite spool is for mono or flouro and is designed to keep the weight down. The gear ratio is 5.5:1 which is a little higher than most other baitfeeder reels. This makes it a bit faster on retrieve and increases the inches per turn. I plan on buying one soon!
Thank you for showing how loud the drag is compared to the Okuma. I have both Okuma and Daiwa baitfeeders and the quiet drag is the one thing I don't like about them. Think I need a Sharky now. Thanks.
I bought one this winter I liked what it was looking like and it's been working great I've got numbers of catfish and carp never had any issues with anything great reel for me
The bail pivot point is actually receiving most of the pressure. The thicker wire helps in keeping the bail sturdy. Otherwise, the elbow will snap easily.
Both great reels.for the money. I own two Avengers that I have had for a couple of years and they have been great. I would probably go with the Sharky for two reasons, its bait feeder is louder and I use the bait feeder quite a bit. The second reason is it is saltwater hardy/approved and I fish saltwater about a third of the time.
hello kastking im a big fan of ur products especially the sharky 3 baitfeeder i have 3 of them on all my rods check out my channel and videos to see them in action an feel free to share like and subscribe for more fishing an outdoor adventures thank you !!!
Have one for catfish and carp here on the Susquehanna . Have almost a year on mine used in both summer and winter weather and it’s been fine and is still good to go .
I bought 6000 sharky. foot stem needs to be addressed!if it wasnt for that.these reels would be awesome.its so much of an issue i couldn't turn the handle on a 27'' catfish.the reel shifted so much it was hard to turn it felt like the gears were stuck.yes it is a great reel performance as far as features that you pointed out.until this foot stem is addressed i will be replacing this reel.
One complaint I keep reading about the reels is that the shaft/support arm is flimsy and flexes (in some cases broken). Is there a way to reinforce the shaft on a reel? What would you recommend?
I think you are talking about the foot and it is made out of plastic or graphite. I am using a 3000 size reel and have caught some pretty decent size fish, red fish and carp in the 10 to 20 pound range and never felt like the foot was flexing or stressed. If you were using it for much larger species surf fishing or deep sea fishing, then maybe the plastic foot could be an issue. I target freshwater rand inshore species and the plastic foot does not bother me. I have several bait casting reels that also have a plastic/graphite foot and have never had an issue. As to how you could reinforce or strengthen it, I don't see any way to do that without having an option to replace it with a foot made of a sturdier material.
Great review. Most informative. It’s hard to find information about the bait runners seal. I understand it doesn’t have the KISS system, but have you had any issues with salt water entry and or corrosion?
How much longevity do you think this reel has. I was thinking of buying a spinvisher v 4500 live liner, and I love Penn products cause even the entry level reels stand up to time. Of course its twice the price, but I would rather pay that than buy this reel twice.
I honestly don't know the longevity of the reel, but I would expect it to have a long life with proper care. I can say I have had it for about four months and have used it a lot both in fresh and saltwater and it has performed flawlessly. I believe the longevity has a lot has to do with the care of the reel. I always rinse my reels with fresh water after being in saltwater and I take them apart and clean them at least once per year. I can honestly say that I have had very few reels fail over the years. I even still have my very first bait caster from 1984 an Abu Garcia 5000. I have replaced worn out parts in the 5000 such as the drag washers . the worm gear and brakes but it still works well. One thing about the Spinfisher is its a completely sealed reel if I remember correctly, which is a nice feature if you are going to be using it in extreme salt conditions where it could get dunked frequently.
@@mitchelltrammell9109 Thank you for your reply. I have the KastKing Kodiac 4000, and it is a great reel. I regret not buying the bigger size because these reels run very small compared to other reels such as Penn. I bought it on Amazon without holding it in my hand first. Thanks for the advice.....
Does the handle free spin when you hard cast it? I hated the old sharky i 10000 for that.. whenever you hard cast, it would spin and lock it self then cut your line. Smooth but annoying reel.
Both nice reels, but I would chooses the Kastking because of the bait feeder being louder. I use the bait feeder quite a bit when carp fishing and when live bait fishing for blue and flat head catfish and the louder sound the kastking produces is important to me in those situations.
I just bought a 6000 series. Seems fine on look need to test. How's the experience for you so far. One thing I noticed the handle knob should have been mental. There's a tiny piece of plastic washer kind of thing between the knob. Worried if somehow if I loose it might end up in disaster. And seems the baitfeeder knob wobbling as if it's loose.
Interesting, my bait feeder knob/drag is not loose at all. There is no play in the knob when I try and wiggle it side to side. So far the reel has been excellent, no complaints form me.
Possibly, the "tiny piece of plastic washer kind of thing between the knob" is referring to the "plastic plug that has to be removed when swapping the handle from side to side, which is shown in the video". GREAT video, the information that I needed to make my decision. Well done!
Still a great reel. I was just at the beach in November of this year catching bull reds in the surf and the reel performed well. Keep in mind I do perform regular maintenance on all my reels. I always rinse them after using them in salt water and I take them apart , clean and lube them once or twice a year.
I personally like the 3000 size reel for inshore. I have used it in the surf and bay catching reds, specs, drum, bluefish, lady fish, and whiting with great results. I use 20lb power pro braid with a 20 or 25lb fluorocarbon leader. I would not go larger than a 4000 for inshore. The 3000 size reel is very close to the size of a 4000 size Okuma and quite a bit smaller than a 4000 Lews Inshore.
Will it be good for monster catfishing ...am planning to buy 3 4000size baitrunner for catfishing ...i already have sharky 3 1000 size..quite impress how it perform
No, the handle does not screw in. You unscrew the screw from the opposite side that the handle is currently on, then you slide the handle out and insert into the side where you removed the screw. There is a plastic plug that has to be removed when swapping the handle from side to side, which is shown in the video.

Good video! I just got the same series (3000) my 1st kastKing Spinner reel, have 3 of their baitcasters ...you answered a lot of my questions

Great review I've just bought the 6000 so I hope it performs as expected
That tree though! Live Oak? Very well done sir! Thank you for sharing :)
lol ... Yes, its a cluster of Live Oak trees. Here in Texas the Live Oak trees are everywhere.

I have an Okuma ABF baitrunner and its too quiet. This Kastking Sharky sounds much better. Thank you for showing the comparison
Have one for catfish and carp here on the Susquehanna . Have almost a year on mine used in both summer and winter weather and it’s been fine and is still good to go .
What size you use for cats?
Just paired up the 4000 baitfeeder and the 3000 to a Moonsniper Sniper 11 and 9' pole's!!!! THE REAL'S ARE BAD ASS ✌🏾👍🏾
Thanks for a great review!

I got 3000.............is shaky on 3000.......shaft/support is weak.....that is why it call it Shaky III Baitfeeder.............6000 is strong

Actually it does have the KISS system I don't know where you heard that but if you go on their website it clearly says it has it.
I buy yesterday my kastking megatron.. hope iy will last for good. New subs here from the philippines.
Hi how are you I have a question can we do vertical jigging using this reel
Thank you
Love my KastKing Reels. Landed some big Flatheads.... no problem.
THE BELL ?
I have a 3000 model and I love it

@@rabbitbully1810 you might get them cheaper on ebay
Hi, great review, do you happen to have the dimensions/measurements of the 3000 height and width, thanks
Does the handle free spin when you hard cast it? I hated the old sharky i 10000 for that.. whenever you hard cast, it would spin and lock it self then cut your line. Smooth but annoying reel.
No, handle does not spin when hard casting. I have used it with a 1 ounce pyramid weight when surf fishing and this did not occur.
I just ordered the 5000, are you still happy with it almost 2 years later?
It's actually not plastic it's graphite which is a composite material
Just bought the 5000 on amazone waiting for it to arrive..
kastking or Okuma...if you had one to choose from the two baitfeeders that you have which one would you go with?
Both nice reels, but I would chooses the Kastking because of the bait feeder being louder. I use the bait feeder quite a bit when carp fishing and when live bait fishing for blue and flat head catfish and the louder sound the kastking produces is important to me in those situations.
They should have a bigger reel for 20-25 lb mono.
how much 20lb braid did you get on the spool ?
I used 20lb PowerPro and put about 200 yards on the 3000 size reel.
Are the reels body, shaft sealed, the bearings seaLed?

How does in compare to the Okuma at this time? thank you
Well, it’s been a little over 2 years with this Sharky 3 bait feeder reel. What’s your opinion now?
Still a great reel. I was just at the beach in November of this year catching bull reds in the surf and the reel performed well. Keep in mind I do perform regular maintenance on all my reels. I always rinse them after using them in salt water and I take them apart , clean and lube them once or twice a year.
What's the best size for inshore fishing for specs, reds, black drum and flounder?
I personally like the 3000 size reel for inshore. I have used it in the surf and bay catching reds, specs, drum, bluefish, lady fish, and whiting with great results. My 6000 brings in sharks, hell yes it would
It will bring in fish but your reel will flex.i had mine and a 27''inch flathead made it flex yes it will work
Is it a screw-in handle?
No, the handle does not screw in. You unscrew the screw from the opposite side that the handle is currently on, then you slide the handle out and insert into the side where you removed the screw. There is a plastic plug that has to be removed when swapping the handle from side to side, which is shown in the video.
@@mitchelltrammell9109 Thanks man - those hex handles are garbage in my opinion. They are always too loose when compared to screw-in handles.
Just recieved my Kastking 3 baitfeeder not really impressed its well made ,smooth but so small. Did not think it would be small. not impressed at all.
so youre not impressed just because you bought a small size? just buy a bigger one god dammit
fucking clown lol...
Do you prefer the kastking over the okuma?
I have a few kastking sharkies and enjoy them but I have a new kastkat and was thinking of getting my first okuma.
You do not have big fish in your area !
No link?
Look for it on ebay.
Would you like him to wrap your line on it also ? Maybe mow your lawn ?
Google the damn thing you lazy bastard...
