So very tempted with this, I really like how big and small companies are trying to bring the hobby to a wider audience with such great and affordable kits
I have had a Dygma Raise for over a year (thanks to your video). I have no intention of changing it out. Yet, you do these videos so well, I keep watching. Great job!
8:00 was the biggest problem for me with R1. I tried 5 different keycaps sets of varying profiles and only 1 did not bind on the case at the spacebar. At first I thought it was the stabs but maybe I need to try moving around the plate to fix the alignment. Thanks for bringing that up!
This is actually what turns me off this board. I really like using cherry profile keycap sets, but the enter key switch orientation as well as the spacebar orientation turns me off. I much prefer it have all the switches be south facing and not have the extra layout options like stepped caps and ISO enter on the hotswap pcb.
I initially used long pole switches like the Boba U4Ts and the Auralites on mine and I had no issues with interference at all. But recently, I used meteor whites that has a normal pole length and I encountered issues on my shift keys and spacebar. I would suggest looking for long pole switches that you'd like to use on the Ikki68 Aurora to prevent interference issues.
Perfect timing dropping this today ahead of the KBD67 sale, helped me make my decision! The different switch orientations on the ikki steered me towards the KBD67 for sure. Amazing vid as always, thanks
If you have friends that bought a Jelly Epoch or a Mr. Suit TKL, you can ask them for their stab shims which come standard with each kit. Those shims allow you to use aftermarket stabilizers without having to do any scuffed mods.
The transluscent dark purple kbd67lite is just too tempting. I prefer the smaller layout in the end and the color options combined with lower price won me over. I might like to get a modular board for the long term like the ikki68 but I doubt I would ever fully utilize it's more modular design. Either way I'm glad that I could be able to even decide between the two. Both seem so good
Thanks for dropping this! I love the sound and don't mind the layout on IKKI68, but the fact that no stab come with the kit is a little bit disappoint. I have already jump into KBD67 lite.
I never had the issue with north facing switches interfering the keycaps before with my R1. I've tried Licacs, Lavenders, Alpacas, TTC Ace , TTC Wild and Zealios :^)
It's very variable. I've got it with my GMK Modo Light set on my current fave switches (Banana Splits), but most of my random/clone PBT sets don't have it. It depends on the caps and switches.
Sorry, I meant caps. I’m going to do a deep dive video in interference to see how big of a deal it really is. A lot of switch manufacturers have made subtle changes to top housings to avoid this so I ordered up a ton of switches and caps to test.
@@badseedtech Very exciting to hear this! I've also wanted to do the same video but I don't know if I have the time or the resources lol. Not just multi layout hot-swap....but they literally have 7 different PCBs to choose from. I personally purchased a jade green and a charcoal R1 ikki68 Aurora, came with a multi layout hotswap PCB.....then I bought the "Tromso" PCB which is the hotswap Per-key RGB Bluetooth wireless PCB. Snagged the battery from their discord for $8, and received that within 2 weeks from the beginning of the Group Buy. Now on round 2 they have 4 new PCBs that are a tiny bit thinner and the Bluetooth PCB is Via compatible instead of just ZMK configuration software. Then just snagged an aluminum top peice for $55 and put that on my R1 ikki68 Aurora .
How much does the flex cuts add the the typing experience. I have the r1 pcb witch has no flex cuts and I wanted to know if it made a big difference in the feel.
I’m shocked that not a single reviewer got the brass weight, that was a must have for me. I’ll def be buying some of the new aluminum top frames but that’s about it. I’m really interesting in their mammoth 75 that they showed on discord however. Thorough review as always!

I prefer the look of kbd67 lite but with the ikki68 beginners can try out what level of flex, plate material, and layout they like, as well as BT with VIA. I recommend looking up reviews of long term users of both as they've both been out for a few months now with previous rounds. I.e, both are gasket mounted but the implementation is different and limits flexibility on kbd67 lite - but this like other traits is subjective and different users have different preferences. Keycaps interference on ikki68 is also good to note as well.
I only ever use 6.25u spacebars so it'd still be south facing switch for me there. Excited about the flexibility of going ISO on the enter and capslock. North facing doesn't matter there since they're just the lessed used modifiers.

Joined the GB for this one! Wanted to ask which layout to use so that there would be no interference, if that makes sense 😅 Like, should I use the stepped caps lock or the normal one to make use of the south facing socket? Thanks!!
To completely avoid it, you should run stepped caps, non split backspace and shifts, and split spacebar (which requires the purchase of the larger stab kit as the space uses 2 additional 2u stabs) The rotated enter and backspace are unavoidable regardless of config. Hope that helps!

Yo Brian great comparison and review. I personally bought the kbd67 lite today. What's your opinion on the Onion switches compared to other popular switches? Other reviews have said they are super smooth, and on the loud + clacky side.
They work on R1 because the PCB is thicker (1.6mm) - with the move to the 1.2mm, you need specific stabs OR you can have to thread the Durocks to get them to fit like I showed in the video.
Hey a serious question. I am looking for compact 65% keyboard without any spacing. Wireless and if possible low profile. Good points for hotswap and mx switches. lol. i’m leaning towards gat inks aqua kings tangies and banana splits please help me !!!!
Any of those 3 choices are legit. I don’t much care for the high pitched sound of the Tangies though
can use NK Creams with xda profile keycap without having interference?
Yeah, XDA is fine. Normally only Cherry profile causes the issue, the most notable is GMK but the new Novelkeys pbt seems to as well.
@Dexter thank you
@@badseedtech appreciate the reply, thank you
So space bar will have interference using the standard layout?
Correct
If you use cherry profile keycaps and standard length switches.
Looks like a really nice board, but I like muh F row
not to take anything away from these boards but im really looking forward to, and waiting on the bauer lite. i think it’s gonna beat out both of these boards
keyboards are getting good these days
Yo Brian great comparison and review. I personally bought the kbd67 lite today.
What's your opinion on the Onion switches compared to other popular switches? Other reviews have said they are super smooth, and on the loud + clacky side.
I would agree with that. Not as high pitched as a Tangie. Spring weight is good, they’re very smooth, no ping or spring crunch. I like them.
Does this board take Durock V2 stabs?
Would also like to know as I have spare durock V2 stabs and would like to avoid making another separate order + shipping!
@@iluminous after rewatching they don't fit without work. Shame.
They work for me on the R1
They work on R1 because the PCB is thicker (1.6mm) - with the move to the 1.2mm, you need specific stabs OR you can have to thread the Durocks to get them to fit like I showed in the video.
does anybody know of other switches that don't cause interference when facing north with gmk caps?
Look at anything long pole. Prevail Epsilons are really decent
@@badseedtech Okay sounds good, want to build mine with tangies or banana splits but maybe getting some WS switches wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
I like the creativity but I'll wait on the Q2....
north-facing space bar? I'm out - kbd67 lite ftw
hey badseed! ikki68 or bakeneko? thx 👊
Haven’t heard Bakeneko - I was put off by the standard 60% layout and the look of the paint process.
The 67lite is not a group buy. It’s in stock.
Hey a serious question. I am looking for compact 65% keyboard without any spacing. Wireless and if possible low profile. Good points for hotswap and mx switches. I had EK868, but it was on kail choc switches, so not rly compatible to anything on the market.
Do anyone got some brands which could help me?
Nk65. Not really low pro but there isn't any blocking.
@@Zaapiel22 its nice, but way too expensive. Its worth 1 week of my salary :D
Tester68 or the Nuphy TES68 is the play
im looking to buy my first kb should i wait for a possible r3 or just get a kbd67 lite?
