I had such a funny interaction with promise of loyalty. I was against a skullbriar deck, and they only had skullbriar out. So they had a skullbriar that could never attack me, even if they killed it and brought it back lol
My favorite addition in my build is mask of the schemer, you can connive so many times getting bigger and dumping knights into the yard each time. Mask is Grisselbrand is nice for sure, but didn't make my cut. I really like frantic search and careful study. They help you get through your deck for cheap and put things into the yard. Archfiend of ifnir and luminous broodmoth are my only non-knights in the build. They allow for a debuff on attacks automatically for the fiend and resiliency and evasion for the moth. I'd love to hear other people's rare additions. Maybe we can lean into surveil more.
Great to have a steer on what to remove. A few thoughts I have on adds are, - teferis ageless insight works super well with the eminence ability. For me, I think you'll draw more from kindred discovery than anything else (especially with the commander wants to attack and we are building in evasion). if we are taking our bigger board wipes, maybe something like crippling fear would be a cheaper (mana cost, but also real cost) alternative to swing the numbers in our favour. Also cheaper mana knight double strike in Kinsbaile Cavalier
I'd probably drop one of Reconnaissance Mission/Bident of Thassa/Coastal Piracy for Kindred Discovery. Only needs the creatures to attack to trigger, not get through for damage, and gets you a card each time your commander reanimates a knight. Also, Invasion of New Phyrexia/Teferi Akosa of Zhalfir feels like it was tailor-made for this deck, surprised to see it not even mentioned. I also threw in Orbs of Warding, because it's a way to stop people from Bojuka Bogging your GY.
What are your thoughts on adding Battle Angels of Tyr and Guardian of Faith. Battle Angels of Tyr seems like it would get in a bunch of the time and Guardian of Faith is pretty good protection imo.
Battle Angel is a good add, but a little pricey at about $20. If we're upgrading I'd always prefer the budget spent elsewhere. Guardian of Faith is a great 'gotcha' but Unbreakable Formation is already in the list by default. If you need MORE, it's a decent add. Evasion is ++ in the deck.
I feel like unless you are going all in with Auras, they are too fragile and risky to use because once the enchanted creature is removed you lose a lot of tempo.
will you do an upgrade video also of the other three? I'd like a way to make all five decks enough balanced for a fair game also after I (and my friends) dropped collectioning, cause, you know, it is expensive in many ways and not following for one expansion could outgame your four months old deck. Or maybe you think the 5 decks are already balanced now. I would not say they are, but I ask this to you. thanks
I'll be doing upgrade guides for all 5. Each 10-card upgrades at minimal cost with THE UPGRADE for expensive additions. Look for the over the next week!
What do you think about running all the maskwood nexus type effects? You can run more creature options that synergize and still reanimate them with your commander or cast them from the grave w/ Haakon.
@Commander Mechanic That's fair. My argument for it in this build is that the commander has emminence for a slightly underpowered creature type and reanimates them all free of charge. With maskwood, you will ensure any attack will trigger him and can then reanimate anything you want if your commander connects.
@@MrGrimord I think everyone has a budget, whether or not the “budget” is $10 or $10,000 per deck is the difference. Every video would be a “precon upgrade” full of Mana Crypt, Ancient Tomb, tutors, etc etc. Like I said I agree on the 3 suggestions, but the guy cut Hero of Bladehold… obviously gotta take his suggestions with a grain of salt.
Syr Gwyn cannot be played in this list, it is a red card. You'd either have to go him and really heavily focus on equipment or stick with the eminence commander and go for recursion.
I really didn't think this deck would be the probable best out of the five, I just saw it was knight tribal with eminence and I was all for getting it and making it work. Plus I've never made an Esper deck before.
I have a 60 card Knight deck and the combo of the Knighthood enchantment, giving creatures you control First strike, paired with Kwende, Blade of Famfir , creatures you control with First Strike have Double Strike, works
I would like to start off by just saying don't be so hard on fractured powerstone, that thing is a 2 Mana rock that comes in untapped. It might just produce a colorless, but it's a decent card I run in several decks that have nothing to do with planechase. That being said I do like most of your picks and cuts for the most part minus the powerstone
What’s with the introduction of red to a 10 card upgrade? Upgrades seem like just throwing in generic “good stuff” rather than focused knight cards and synergy.

I find Breathless Knight to be an overlooked but great add for this deck. It synergizes very well with the reanimation theme.
that's a really good call, especially with Sidar's reanimate ability
With the return to eldraine around the corner, I think the potential upgrades will need to be revisited around that time.
Yea definitely - even now if I were going above and beyond 10 cards there’s PLENTY to add. This deck is going to get a lot better really soon.
There are 2 Lieges from Lorwyn that are knights and are on color. Glen Elendra Liege and Thistledown Liege. U/B and W/U respectively.

Horsemanship is gonna go crazy
A lot of people don't realize that it just makes your entire squad unblockable lol - it's real good
@@CommanderMechanic shhh, we're going to keep this a secret :D
Aqueous form and prowler's helm as well as thassa, god of the sea for evasion.
No love for my main man Mirror Entity?
I like Wonder for cheaper evasion. Discarding it is no problem here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That and Glory fit right in:)
Don't forget about its cousins: Valor and Filth. First strike is nothing to sneeze at, and swampwalk can be deadly if you can slot an Urborg in
Exactly my first thought
Xerex works on creature spells too, caramels really good at going wide for no cost.
Kinsbaile Cavalier to give the knights double strike?
Annoyingly enough the card has absolutely skyrocketed in price since this decks announcement. Now a $20 card compared to its original $3

Im shocked that rider's of gavony wasnt mentioned but would be a great tribal include as well. Cant sleep on Kinsbaile Cavalier too
What do you think of adding Kinsbaile Cavalier to the precon, it's a kithkin knight that gives knights double strike.
Does library of leng works with the eminence ability?.
sure does, if you don't want to put anything into the graveyard
What do you think about running all the maskwood nexus type effects? You can run more creature options that synergize and still reanimate them with your commander or cast them from the grave w/ Haakon.
Maskwood Nexus is an easy way out and people don’t like when I recommend it. I think it’s FINE if that’s the direction you want to take the deck.
@Commander Mechanic That's fair. My argument for it in this build is that the commander has emminence for a slightly underpowered creature type and reanimates them all free of charge. I do like bringing back Planechase though.
Kinsbaile Cavalier, Cavalier of Dawn and Cavalier of Night are staples in this deck. Surprisingly, no mention at all.
Kinsbale and Dawn spiked to over $10, Night still sitting at ~$3 but not for long. Stellar fit I agree, just not budget so likely ignored.
@@pistolpete7422 No one I knows play budget decks. It's a shame there are not many EDH channel which focus on optimized casual decks.

@@pistolpete7422 There should be at least a $500-$750 budget version of precons.
@@MrGrimord add tutors, fetchlands, fast mana, and an infinite combo. There ya go, guide complete.
Also, it looks like you didn't update the deck entirely in Moxfield. No rhystic or mystic in there.
The list on Moxfield is the 10-card update. THE UPGRADE section is if you want to spend more money. Welcome to the channel!
Syr Gwyn cannot be played in this list, it is a red card. You'd either have to go him and really heavily focus on equipment or stick with the eminence commander and go for recursion.
Question for you, Swyr Gwyn is mardu did you plan on changing the color scheme? Also you could put and infinite combo with famished paladin ?
yes the recommendation is that, if you want to do Knights + Equipment, Syr Gwyn is a better commander for that archetype.
I really didn't think this deck would be the probable best out of the five, I just saw it was knight tribal with eminence and I was all for getting it and making it work. Plus I've never made an Esper deck before.
Is there a card that gives every creature first strike?
Odric Lunarch Marshal comes close, as long as you control one other creature with First Strike
Valor can be discarded for first strike as long as you have a plains.
I have a 60 card Knight deck and the combo of the Knighthood enchantment, giving creatures you control First strike, paired with Kwende, Blade of Famfir , creatures you control with First Strike have Double Strike, works
Another great double add would be Kinsbaile Cavalier plus it's a knight
@Jonathan Bane I agree but it's like 30+ dollars right now

I think I’ll add Syr Gwen to my pre con
it's presented as a different direction for the deck, not an add. "If you want swords on knights we already have Syr Gwyn"
Nice review. Thanks. These cards late game 7:15 could be used to discard for your commander's ability.
what the fuck, why would you cut hero of bladehold? the card literally is an army in a can that also anthems? just why lol
He probably hasn’t played the deck lol.
The upgrade. Lol
Syr Gwyn is red ;)
yes, good observation. If you want Knights Holding Equipment there's already a Commander for that, is the point.
i think this upgrade idea is cool
equipment and drawing cards
but it misses the mark and idea of the deck ...
What’s with the introduction of red to a 10 card upgrade? Upgrades seem like just throwing in generic “good stuff” rather than focused knight cards and synergy.
It's not an introduction of red, he was using it as a comparison and an example of a version of knights that already exists.
Syr gwyn is mardu ya fool
