The Hot Band was terrific and EmmyLou was the cherry on top. Been a fan of hers since 1974. That's 47 years now and she's still a beauty. Love her always.
This is extraordinary and delicious to an Emmylou fan such as me: for a start the Hot Band and their leader are at their near-perfection, the recording is outstanding(in Aotearoa) and lovely Emmylou stifling her grin at the conservative audience!! Hell if I had been there....... well I wasn't....lots o' love
You said it best, Thomas. I have seen her in concert four times. Once was in a very small venue in Rhode Island; talk about up close and personal; the Hot Band was terrific, and she was magical. It was one of the best nights of my life. I used to have all of her CD's, which I've mostly worn out. Thank heaven for UA-cam. I'm here during "isolation".
Boys and girls, cowboys and Indians welcome to Emmylou's version of the great Hank Snow ballad, I"M MOVIN' ON "but you just wouldn't listen or pay me no mind" DAMN oxo
The Hot Band: ( FOR ME) Was Emmylou Harris, Albert Lee, Emory Gordy, John Ware, Glen D Hardin, Rodney Crowell, Hank Devito. These guys seemed to be a bit tired by the time they got here, Mind you , Maybe the band wanted the audience to sceam and shout, (Which we don't do over here),,,,,,,,,,,,, Just saying
I agree with your choice with one exception.James Burton on lead.James is unique.I love Albert also but their styles are so different I think.James is the master with the slower songs.Ive had the pleasure of seeing the original band here in Dublin in 76 I think. No Gib they did not want you scream or shout. This is Not the hot band really even though they were damn good.Peace Gib.
[Verse 1] That big eight wheeler a rollin' down the track Means your true lovin' daddy ain't comin' back 'Cause I'm movin' on, I'll soon be gone You were flyin' too high for my little old sky So I'm movin' on [Verse 2] That big loud whistle as it blew and blew Said hello to the Southland, we're comin' to you And we're movin' on, oh hear my song You had the laugh on me, so I've set you free And I'm movin' on [Verse 3] Mister Fireman, won't you please listen to me 'Cause I got a pretty mama in Tennessee Keep movin' me on, keep rollin' on So shovel the coal, let this rattler roll And keep movin' me on
As usual a magnificent performance by Emmylou. Pardon my ignorance, but who are the members of this iteration of the Hot Band- no Rodney Crowell, Albert Lee, Hank de Vito , Emory Gordy, Glenn Hardin....possibly the best version was the 1977 legendary line up who can be seen in the UA-cam video of the 1977 Old Grey Whistle Test - a very young Emmylou backed by a superb band.
Excuse my ignorance, but who are the members of this iteration of the Hot Band- not the magic lineup of Rodney Crowell, Emory Gordy, Hank de Vito, Albert Lee and John Ware?
"Return of the Grievous Angel" , a Gram Parsons song. Emmylou was backing/duo singer for Gram Parsons at the time of his death I believe, after which she started her own career. I saw this line up in Auckland Live on this tour. It was the last performance on a world wide tour so she promised and delivered a magnificent long concert. Cecelia Fraser (below) notes the quality of musicianship in the whole group and how true that is and was. You can see all the names for this line up on the Hot Band site: Barry Tashian (guitar, harmony vocal), John Ware (drums), Steve Fishell (steel guitar), Wayne Goodwin (fiddle) , Don Johnson (piano), Frank Reckard (lead guitar), Mike Bowden (bass). As an example look at the credits for the late Wayne Goodwin quoted in 2008: "Born of an Australian mother, Wayne first came to Australia on tour from Hollywood, California with Emmylou Harris twenty-three years ago and returned the following year to stay, performing with the newly reformed band Crossfire and to break into the film industry as a composer. His credits as a violinist list the who’s who of music including Midnight Oil, INXS, Jenny Morris, Sting, Bob Dylan, Linda Ronstadt, Tony Bennett, ELO, Renee Geyer, Ross Wilson, The Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, The Bolshoi Ballet, Gene Pitney, Dolly Parton, Dragon, Emmylou Harris, Jimmy Little, Michelle Shocked, Anne Kirkpatrick, Bread, Crosby, Stills and Nash (Wayne was awarded a platinum album for his violin solo on their hit single Wasted in the Way) and more…

Cecelia Fraser , as a kiwi I can confirm that while we’re going apeshit inside we don’t necessarily go apeshit up front.
@@Pete-z6e apeshit inside is a beautiful image. I share it!
Not only, would other singers, "kill" for Emmylous voice, they would do similar, for her dynamic looks. What all over majesty, she does possess.

Ditto Sue.
Thank you for posting. I enjoyed it so much. There is nobody I would rather listen to, and she seems to be beautiful inside and out.
Beautiful!

GREAT!!! Thank you for posting this video!!!
Voz inconfundible mi admiracion por Emilou Harris.
Are you serious right now? That ending on Beneath Still Waters was extraordinary. Never heard her and Barry end it that way. Wow.
Beneath Still Waters by Rhonda Vincent, Bluegrass version .Take your pick .Todays singers take notes.
Boys and girls, cowboys and Indians welcome to Emmylou's version of the great Hank Snow ballad, I"M MOVIN' ON "but you just wouldn't listen or pay me no mind" DAMN oxo
Emmylou might just have a crush on me. It shows up at every show.

Who is the Steel man?
That’s Frank Reckard on guitar. A great musician.
Wayne Pribble and the great Steve Fishell on pedal steel
Great performances by a great band.
Perfect timing for sorrow. :(
[Verse 1]
That big eight wheeler a rollin' down the track
Means your true lovin' daddy ain't comin' back
'Cause I'm movin' on, I'll soon be gone
You were flyin' too high for my little old sky
So I'm movin' on
[Verse 2]
That big loud whistle as it blew and blew
Said hello to the Southland, we're comin' to you
And we're movin' on, oh hear my song
You had the laugh on me, so I've set you free
And I'm movin' on
[Verse 3]
Mister Fireman, won't you please listen to me
'Cause I got a pretty mama in Tennessee
Keep movin' me on, keep rollin' on
So shovel the coal, let this rattler roll
And keep movin' me on
The great Don Heffington on drums
Kriss Light Don Heffington is one of the greatest drummers in the business, he had a truly brilliant career.
Nice intro Phil.
The brilliant Frank Reckard is a superb replacement for Albert Lee.
Yep he was
I approve of the Hot Band with Frank Rekard.
Barry Henderson , not quite.
He’s got a B-bender on that guitar.

That "very young" Emmylou was 28 or 29 at the time !
Gram saw his devil and it was Gretchen , and he saw his deep blue Sea and it was the girl in the Calico bonnet (Emmy).
The show was a lot longer than this piece.
Excuse my ignorance, but who are the members of this iteration of the Hot Band- not the magic lineup of Rodney Crowell, Emory Gordy, Hank de Vito, Albert Lee and John Ware?
Appears to still be Barry Tashian
Does anyone know name of second song. ( at about 2.56 ) Thks

@@georgebur wow! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. So happy to see this performance!
Who is on steel?
Where’s Rodney?
Don’t come here much too many commercials
Delours Keene is Emmylou Harris real name
If you aren’t moved by BS Waters…..you don’t have a soul.
Not so hot band. Original band was so much better,
