I love the slow motion. Birds are so quick that you don't often see the agility and elegence, but in slow motion you see how athletic they are. Love it.

he's stashing the peanut, he'll be back for more >:) I have found that peanuts in the shell makes it so they want to make a trip with them so they leave and let the birds eat!
+MyBackyardBirding, he probably just cracked away at the shell and then pecked on the peanut. That's my guess. But I don't know. Maybe you should put out chopped peanuts for the cardinals since they're clearly interested.
Gotta say, of all the people to find in the comments I wasn't expecting you. UA-cam giving you bird videos just because it felt like it, or do you watch this sort of stuff regularly? Have to ask cuz I never know what's the algorithm doing its own thing and what I'm getting because of the owl stream I follow when it comes to bird vids lmao
Another lovely video. The slo mo of the cardinal sliding up to the peanut was great and the cheeky squirrel, well what can i say adorable. Thank you for sharing☺♥♥☺
Sara mine if left alone will crack open the shell by pounding on it and eating right there but if the Blue Jays and squirrels are acting up they take them home.
THAT SQUIRREL JUST BE THERE EVERY TIME BRUH 😂😂😂 Edit: THE CARDINAL REALLY JUST LOOKED INTO OUR SOUL, TOOK THE PEANUT AND TOOK A LEAP OF FAITH OFF THE TABLE 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have cardinals in my yard and they love peanuts whether shelled or unshelled. Since they fly off with them I've never seen them open a shelled peanut but apparently they can. I leave out kibble type dog food for the crows (who prefer peanuts) and even have a white ibis come in once in a while to eat the dog food. This upsets the crows but the ibis is a bigger bird with a long beak and the crows are afraid to mess with him/her.
You have to make a table, put a corner in each of the three sides of the sparrows to put granule, please keep my request so that the idle da na ni chi na fell❤️
I have one every day with his female mate come by for their peanuts which i give and they fly away with! They are such beautiful and intelligent creatures!!! I also have a squirrel that comes by my steps every mornjng for HIS peanut!!
I put peanuts and sunflower seeds out. The jays and cardinals and woodpeckers come for the peanuts. But I also have a tufted titmouse that comes and takes them even though they’re half the size of him 😂
We actually once got a whole family of cardinals to trust us once, they’d let us get real close to they’re babies with our camera (two arms length away). We had been feeding them for a while and they always waited at a certain time of day for us to come out to admire them.
That majestic landing right in the beginning of the video. Over 100 years of aerospace engineering and we still can't do that. Nature is truly amazing.
I don't think it's about a number. The human pilot is controlling an external force in order to fly and then land. The bird is controlling an internal one, it is part of his body. This is something we will never be able to replicate. And if we ever do, it will still be through artificial means. In the bird's case, it is part of his nature, which makes it forever unique.
I have a Thrasher that has been enjoying peanuts in the shell for a week. So fun to watch it peck through the shell & get the goodies. Now he is bringing his girlfriend. They come running every morning when I do a bad Thrasher imitation (click/whistle). Shaking the can of peanuts also helps, but I'm getting the Pavlov Dog effect.
I love this video. Great quality. I had not realized until a few years ago how bad ass Cardinals were. The robins gang up on the blue jays as the jays are bulleis but the cardinals don't have too. Once the cardinal male is landing all other birds go,including crows at times
My Cardinals don’t seem to like them when I put them out. Of course you have about 8 or more BlueJays that come and take 2 at a time most of the time. Squirrels like them too, one in particular!!!! I love my birds and my squirrels!!!! Right now I am inundated with Crackles and Starlings!!! 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ They come here to nest and then move on!!
LOL today a female one was foraging below the feeders and i guess a bird mustve dropped their peanut. the female picked up the huge peanut and flew to a tree. idk if it was able to crack it open but it was hilarious watching her carry it.
Omg!! I didn’t know they were into peanuts too?!? No wonder the last few times I came out to feed the Blue Jays Peanuts, I hear the Cardinal sing (my favorite bird). Now I feel bad 😔!! But those BJ won’t let him near me or the peanuts. Nice video

I forgot all about the cardinals ability to slow down time

That's the first squirrel I've ever seen leaving food for someone else.
I was expecting it to sit there and eat until its full.
The little guy surprised us all. 🐤🐭🐦

GREAT footage- gorgeous birds. The slow motion really cracked me up-very cute!
+Kimberly 269life Thanks - love his determined look!
MyBackyardBirding who is going to eat the last peanut
That was cute! He looked at those peanuts like "Well what have we here?"
Their beaks are not made for peanuts - but he must have figured it out!

The 6 dislikes are from jealous blue jays :P
Yeah, canadians from Toronto.😂
There are 71 blue jays now
@Rocco B. there army is growing

I feed cardinals peanuts in the shell regularly. They love them. I too was very surprised, I wonder how they eat the peanuts.
Sara mine if left alone will crack open the shell by pounding on it and eating right there but if the Blue Jays and squirrels are acting up they take them home.
They eat them with some grape jelly or sometimes they eat them salted with a glass of wine.

Fascinating world of bird behavior! TY. I noticed how each bird took turns lining up on the dead branch, ready and hungry!
I've been feeding and watching Cardinals and others for many years, and I've never seen them take a peanut. Rare capture!
Mine come everyday for peanuts.
@@markdaniele4539 Wow, I wonder if it has something to do with location? I am in Western NY state, south of Buffalo. ebird.org/home?logout=true

Mr. Cardinal just non-chalantly absconds with the peanut and hops off the platform. LOL !
