The power of Angelina. She had just come from an amusement park which was opened for her and some friends & family. On the way from the park she finished the lyrics in the limousine taking her to the studio where an orchestra has been assembled for her to record this song. She records the song and goes to the control room to listen to it. Ask if she likes it? Her reply “Yuck”. Back to the studio to do over. This is one of the few second takes required of her recording. Know in the industry as one of the few. One and done artists
Angelina really wanted to do this song. When her mom read the lyrics, she told Angelina she was not allowed to sing the song unless she changed the lyrics. Angelina took 24 hours (1 day) and completely re-wrote the lyrics to the song so that she could sing it. The original song itself was very dark and was sung in a very subdued fashion by Amy Winehouse. Angelina kept that same feel but re-wrote the song to be about love. She also re-wrote it in a way that the orchestra didn't even have to change the melody, rhythm or cadence for Angelina's version. Not one of my favorites of hers but still a masterful performance. Could this young girl, Angelina Jordan, could she be channeling many and several? Could she be filled with those who are still living vicariously through her? I ask not because I don't know.....but through experience, I ask because I'm highly suspecting this very thing.

The first two lines of the song are, “He left me no time to regret, kept his dick wet, with his same old safe bet”, those and some references later in the song to the tracks in her arms. That’s what “back to black” in the song is referring to, hitting up and going black. There for her mother correctly required her to rewrite the lyrics if she was going to sing it. Angelina’s “shield” hard at work doing her job and protecting AJ.
Addition to the correct story's below about the lyrics being completely rewrote ,, she was refining them In the car on the way to the studio,, she had just left a theme park like 6 flags just hours before where they did photos hoots and her and her friends rode the rides and she was just screaming her lungs out on a Rollercoaster then off to the studio

Nope, the improvised lyrics are too much. Meaning too many words, fill the space. All the added lyrics sound very busy in the context of the chords & arrangement. Mom was WRONG. The lyrics should’ve been left intact, no matter the age of the singer. She should’ve just sampled the song if her mother was going to control what she was going to sing
