Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on UA-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz.
Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate.
At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on UA-cam went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs. At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a UA-cam video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed Frank Sinatra “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on UA-cam. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On UA-cam, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina has posted numerous short performances on Tik Tok and Instagram. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022. In December 2022, Angelina performed at the Asian American Awards in Los Angeles. On 2/27/23, Angelina performed at the FIFA Awards ceremony in Paris, France, with a viewing audience in the millions. On May 5th, 2023, Angelina released her original "Love Don't Let Me Go".

Everyone says go in chronological order, but it will take years to complete over 180 songs that she has done. Some originals mostly covers, but you can't go wrong with anyway you want to go. Have a good journey its going to blow your mind every time.

I am amazed Angelina managed to do this at all, she had to change the lyrics at the last minute as her mother put her foot down at the adult content. Fitting new lyrics last minute and trying to fit those into the flow of the song....not even in your first language of the country you were born and schooled in, at her age. How did she do it? It beggars belief.

Her total re-write of the lyrics changed Amy's song about sex & drugs to a song about love, which is what Angelina is all about. She didn't like the 1st take, so they re-did it & this is the 2nd take, all the way through. She's releasing a 5-song EP of originals, very soon this month.

there´s much more of covers, and all covers, she honored the originals to cover their songs. I love music, all music, and i think: she was born to sing - AND SHE CAN SING !!!. The different to many other Covers of other performers - she made the song to her own, and some song; maybe, you think it is better than the Original. That´s more than talent. Music make the world better, and she is a gift to this world to make this music. I hope to see her any time live on a concert in germany and i hope i can get a card. There´s nothing than enjoy, enjoy, enjoy and enjoy.
Exploring Angelina is fun no matter her age. Personally, I enjoy listening to her new music then go back and explore her earlier years and appreciate the hard work and lighting fast development of her vocal gifts led by her Brilliant Mind. This is a rare second take of an entire lyric rewrite , AJs mom had read the original lyrics and told Angelina she was not allowing her to record the next day because of the adult content.
Angelina wanted to sing so bad the next day at the recording session, she sat down and rewrote the entire song, approatiate for a 10 year old to sing. She was finishing the new version in the car on the way to the studio,, what most don't know is she was at an Amusement Park that same morning doing a photo shoot with some friends and she is seen screaming on Rollercoasters other rides and playing like a 10year old with her friends then,,, off to work.. AJ sang her version without changing a single note of music that the band had already learned, yet after, while they were rolling it back and listening Angelina became visibly upset and finally whispered in her Grandma's ear about her concern, AJ had felt she had messed up a note in a word,, she felt it wasn't perfect what she had sang,, but didn't want the band to have to start over.. Once the band found out what was going on they had told AJ they were hired to be there till she was happy and explained that many professionals did 3, 5, and sometimes more than 10 takes,,, they were more than happy to do it again, what you saw was round 2. Angelina is well known for one take recordings, however her live shows have practice for sound and timing Camara placements, this is where you will know if it's real or practice because she wears shoes when she is in practice... Sometimes you will even see her in animal slippers or other age identifying footwear. Another thing you will see in a practice is AJ will ask artists if they will try something as she wants her concerts to sound like what she wants your to hear, she is not demanding or rude and is very humble to her craft..
MANY band members and artists have gone on to work on other recordings as AJ grows up she has two favorite guitarist one in Norway and one in LA and Rob Christy has done several of her piano recordings if she is not playing her own piano or guitar

Hey, Vinnie and Becca! Glad you caught her expressive hand movements. She's kinda famous for those, at least among her hardcore fans. I think she was particularly expressive in this way (and also with crazy good vocals that are way different than those dominating in "Back to Black") in her cover of Rihanna's "Stay," which she performed at age 12. If you haven't seen IT'S A MAN'S WORLD with the Norway Military Band (not AT ALL their name but their outfits look military and there are two or three videos of this song and this one WITH THIS BAND .. the one you want. She is wearing her short white dress I so love. Her version of this song is nothing less than phenomenal.
Her cover of Elvis' SUSPICIOUS MINDS is later than the last one .. which was when she was 13, I think ... but Suspicious Minds was last year and it is brilliant.

In Angelina's inspiration and musical research, Amy occupies a truly special place, also for this reason it's a bond that listening to her often comes spontaneously to the mind, given the splendid jazz-soul connotation of both. Angelina has sung several of Amy's songs and often as she did here, she had to edit the lyrics herself, due to Amy's particularly raw language, however her versions of her songs are always extremely respectful and balanced, thanks to the wonderful passion with which she sings them.💛🧡❤
I'm a bit new to both of you. I came along with Angelina Jordan and found you through her. I've got two of my very favorite videos that Angelina covered. First, as a 10-year-old, Angelina sang a cover of Baby Fuzz's, I'm Still Holding Out for You. She ended up singing it even before Baby Fuzz did, but Angelina's parents didn't want hers released because of thematic issues. I think the video was produced by a fan using Angelina's audio and her photos at the approximate time she did the song. Secondly, Angelina did a cover of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean when she was 15. Billie Jean is worth pausing your excursion through Angelina's youth. Those of the two songs I chose for you to do a couple reactions. Thank you.

I think in the original when Amy talks about falling back to black she’s referring to black tar opium and the state it induces. That, along with Amy’s reference to her boyfriend’s dick, are just a couple of the reasons AJ’s mother forbade her from recording this song until she revised the lyrics. Which she did in less than a day.
I meant to say black tar heroin, not opium. Close to the same result though.
