The light really improved the look of your livebearers tank, it is a shame the legs didn't fit your tank but Hygger may have made the light to fit tanks in the metric system, meant for 100 cm tanks or something along those lines.

Agree. But the box and web (Amazon) say it fits a 36” imperial measurement. As seen with the imperial measuring tape, the second tank I installed the light on was this exact measurement.
A small oversight and I think the light has the right lumen value for my setup but some tweaks need to be made.

Their measurements are for an aquarium with the black rims... you have a rimmless aquarium so it throws things off about 1/4" on each side....

Could be. In this case it was the wrong SKU listed for this length. I have other Hygger lights that fit fine.

I just measured my Hygger light on a 36", 40 breeder framed tank. The light is 34" and with the bracket it fits fine. My light is a few months old, and you likely received their latest model. Looks like they messed up a bit in a very basic way.

Agreed. My older lights from Hygger measure properly as well.

I have a small hugger light for my 10g betta tank. It works great. So I bought a 48" for my 75g. It worked great for a few months then I got an alert on my phone from the smoke detector in my fish room. When I got home the fire was manly smoke it was coming from the inline light controller.
It was above and behind the tank along with my air pump for safety reasons. All my fish were gasping for air at the top. With the hugger controller being next to the air pump the pump was sucking the smoke and pumping it into the water. Soo I grabbed the first bucket I could find and filled it up and started grabbing fish out to try and save them. After I removed the fish I put a flat pond air disk in the bucket and started blasting air into the bucket to try and over oxygenate the water to try and clean the toxins out of my fish. Then I broke down my tank and did a thro cleaning.
Long story short I lost my investment in the light and I lost 6 fish, and 4hrs of hard labor. I know I most likely got a bad light but it's hard to trust a company's light after something like that happens.
I'm not Anti-Hygger I own 3 heaters 1 6" light and one of their tank Vacuums. I still have the light I'm hoping to find a way to rewire it so I can get some use out of it because before it caught on fire it was a great light It made my fishes colors pop. I tried support but never got an answer t5o my emails. That part of the operation could use a lot of work.

Sorry to hear about your fish loss. I’m glad the light didn’t cause more damage to life or property. I believe any product from any manufacturer can fail, regardless of price, but not hearing back from customer service is bad PR.

I appreciate your support since day one. But I have to disagree. Because my most stable tanks, without algae, have Hygger lights. Maybe they’re low power, I don’t know, but they grow plants and don’t cause massive algae blooms. I am still learning balance with my aquariums. But the high power lights I have make it harder than Hygger lights. And let’s be honest here…Hygger lights are cheap. Good to start/experiment with. 🤷🏼‍♂️
