Looksharp staysmart we would do that in jazz bands and while our director was working with other kids(we had an ok size group) the saxophones(me included 😂)would be on their phones and using Snapchat
In middle school it’s like “the mile made me tired. I don’t wanna play” In high school it’s like “Wooh! Just ran the mile! I’m pumped up! Let’s do this!”
Had a kid in my Middle School 7th grade class never change his reed because his mom told him not to. Smh. The kid was still in 8th grade when all the rest of us were moving to Sophomore year and doing Honors auditions.
Grace Gittinger Whenever one of us trombonists goes to “eighth position” my director writes our name on the board under a special heading called eighth position club.
Excellent.. I would add "Can I do homework today" kid, "I need a reed" kid, "my slide doesn't move" kid and "I don't know where my music is" drummer. My personal favorite "awkwardly leave instrument on chair so it gets knocked onto the floor and broken" kid.
Jonathan Cole I totally understand where you're coming from, in my band we had kids like this. One kid out there trumpet on a chant and it fell off and the mouth piece got stuck and we had another time when two kids put a water bottle in either the baritone or the tuba and they couldn't get it out 🤦🏼♀️ and our bind director was not pleased
*cough cough* the new tuba/baritone players that put the instrument on their chair instead of on the bell when they get up -- im a new tubs player and i would never try to put it on my chair
My teachers cuts us off mid song to show us this video. We all crowd around his phone watching the video, As We yell out the names of the people who do that! Thank you so much for making band class more exciting!
one of the band moms posted this on facebook and i was thinking, “thank god we’re not in MS anymore ahaha” before realizing this is still what hs band is like
oh my goooood, my tuba has been decimated multiple times by other kids thinking it’s a basketball hoop for random objects, on the plus side my tuba gets bi monthly repairs and i never have to pay
From what I've gathered is that many middle school band directors probably would want to teach high school of they weren't required to do marching band. So, if there were no marching band would we even have middle school band directors?
This man is also the codirector of my high school band and he’s so funny. He’s like this in class. Today for May fest we got two new songs and one of them was one day more from les mis and he showed us a video of him singing all of the parts. He’s a great director 😂😂
Thanks UA-cam to recommendations. After playing trumpet for 9 years and having started back when I was in grade school, this hits home. "CaN yOu ReMoVe My MoUtHpIeCe?"
Percussion section: teacher what’s a guiro? There’s only one mallet We don’t have a ____ Who’s playing the snare this time Do we really need the (insert unnecessary instrument) Wait don’t start! I’m still tuning the timpani! Wait so this section is tiki ta ta tiki tiki ta tiki ? We can’t find our music Can’t forget that moment when percussion messes up and the whole ensemble turns their heads and just stares 😂🙄
N Aligawesa our person was playing mallets and he has a solo in our Christmas song and he was going so fast compared to the tempo and it screwed us up when we started playing
Cheezit We only have two percussionists (including me) and the other person does not listen to everyone else nor does he watch the conductor. This means that we (the whole band) all learned to tune him out while we all play
Shannon Lynne band kids don't really know how to share stands you are 💯% accurate I know this because I am that kid, I also don't like sharing music so when we would have a performance the person I always sit next to and I would share the stand and music and with time he learned that we just use my music because mine is always neater and I write things on mine lol 😂
2:33 BUT SOMEBODY ACTUALLY TOOK MY DRUMSTICK ON FRIDAY! I put them both on a stand at the start of rehearsal, went over to the mallets for warm-ups, and when I got back there was only 1 there! I found it by the end of rehearsal, on a table for the auxillary stuff I am NOWHERE near.
Vesnake 11 that happens to me all the time! I’m a short girl who is in percussion with 5 tall guys, the guys always like to steal my sticks and hold them over my head, hide them, or put them in shelves that I can’t reach, it’s stressful
I have no clue why this popped up in my recommended videos, but I’m very glad it did. I’ve never been in band but I’ve been in choir and a lot of this happened in middle school so I relate😂😂
Don't forget people putting their phones on their music stands lmfao
Looksharp staysmart we would do that in jazz bands and while our director was working with other kids(we had an ok size group) the saxophones(me included 😂)would be on their phones and using Snapchat
I do that to hold my music down
ME IN ALL MY BANDS
Amen
Looksharp staysmart everytime i see someone do that i yell ‘cellular device’ ‘is that a cellular device i see?’ ‘PUT YOUR ANDROID AWAY’
You know for a fact he’s quoting everything he’s heard before
Ikr i’ve seen these all but with an orchestra teacher
This is my band director lmao
@Trashy Artz wait rlly?
@Trashy Artz oh lol, no this actually was my band director, we actually had two, him and this bald guy
As a middle school band teacher...I've heard/seen 90% of these THIS WEEK. It's only Wednesday.
0:20 “Do we have to play today? i just ran the mile!”
omg that was so me! i had PE right before band
In middle school it’s like “the mile made me tired. I don’t wanna play”
In high school it’s like “Wooh! Just ran the mile! I’m pumped up! Let’s do this!”
*that's me but with orchestra*
I have P.E before band :(
SAME, but I didn't ask if I couldn't play band cause I love it, but during the whole hour I can barely breathe lol
Yeah I have PE before band too
the decimated clarinet reed was so ridiculously accurate
Legit the clarinets and saxophones in my class will get confused when they squeak even though they've had the same reed for the last 3-5 months.
@@genarorodriguez4121 jeez... The perfect sax Reed lasts for 2 months how they play it for 5 😂😂😂
@@kirkt3970 Idk they just forget to change it out. I'm not sure how it works since i'm a trombone player.
@@genarorodriguez4121 My alto reed works perfectly for almost the whole year
Had a kid in my Middle School 7th grade class never change his reed because his mom told him not to. Smh. The kid was still in 8th grade when all the rest of us were moving to Sophomore year and doing Honors auditions.
HOW DO YOU NOT HAVE A CLARINET MOUTH PIECE???
I lose my sax mouth piece
I don’t know, but it still happens!
Ikr thats was a little dramtic
I use to share my clarinet with someone else and sometimes I would forget to bring my mouthpiece.
Promina I
LIKE HOW
I love how the trombone going to "8th position" is the last clip, such a middle school experience lol
Grace Gittinger Whenever one of us trombonists goes to “eighth position” my director writes our name on the board under a special heading called eighth position club.
I literally went to 9th position once, I was going from Bb to B several times and uhh... my slide ended up on the other of of my bedroom.
Grace Gittinger As a Trombone player, I must agree.
As a hs trombonist, if it happens the whole band will know. Everyone
While doing that I accidentally launched my slide across the room xD
2:42 was literally my life in middle school
That was me in September but now i'm fine.
Omg so true. Last year, in 6th grade, I ligit did that on my first day!
Lol me too

or the "can i go get my valve oil"

Stella Rae mine did that too.
Stella Rae lol
Stella Rae SAME!!
Stella Rae Same my band teacher also did this
Stella Rae he’s our band teacher😂
“My clarinet won’t play” oh lord that’s so middle school
No valve oil
No reed
Instrument is always "in the shop"
Moose_Latte so true

jocelyn I don’t know what kind of high school band you are in, but I don’t think that’s true
Tungsten 5 public school
Tungsten 5 nope it’s very true
chanie not in marching band lol if you act like this you would get banned from band at my school
lmao was thinking the same thing. honestly, high school is worse than when i was in middle school. everybody complains all the damn time lol
My husband and I have watched this many times. This is genius. My son loves having you as a band teacher.
Andrea Stephens are you conor stephens mom
Im suprised that nigga didnt shoot up the school lmao😂
Hi, Conor Stephens' mom
Andrea Stephens this is probably Wisconsin or some shit
Or some random northern state Idc for the north just the south , AKA TEXAS
my middle school band director gives us speeches about how we’re waisting his heart beats

Middle school band is the ultimate embodiment of absolute chaos, and any one who seeks to tame the untamable has strength beyond a mere mortal.
Lol

Don’t forget
“Uh, teacher, how do I play this note?”
*points at a note that you learn in fifth grade*
ShesAHandsomeBeebo I’m guilty of that lol
I didnt have band in fifth grade... probably because my school was a small public school that's in a farm town with the population of 1,000.
I wish I had band when I was in fifth grade.
I play bass clef and in elementary all we had was treble clef worksheets
I didn't have band in elementary
This brought me back 😂 and reminded me that band directors are SAINTS.
Keep up the great work I look forward to more vids like these! 🤣😄
As an 8th grade band kid this is entirely accurate

1:12 as a flautist i can confirm that there are always a horde of stands in the flute section even though there’s only 4 of us at most
As a flautist, we take the stands to bother people
Our teacher showed us this and we just listed who was who like
“Robert!”
“Charlie!”
“Alice!”
“Oh my god that is so Randy!”
I have two people in my band class who are named Charlie and Randy. (In case you're wondering, Charlie plays Trumpet and Randy plays Alto Saxophone.)
"Can we get a concert B flat?"
*kid plays B flat instead of concert B flat*
My teacher showed us this video in class all the clarinets laughed at the reed part
The struggle is real!
I died laughing when I saw that clarinet reed!
The one about the drummers was spot on I’ll admit it.
You could at least say my mouth hurts 100%

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY BANDMATES I S2FG
My band teacher showed us this after we came inside from marching. I can say that this video is completely accurate.
this is exactly how my kids are. every time. hilarious!! 🤣🤣
You are awesome and this is so true. I'm sending to all my students just to have them know how much I miss them during this crazy time.
The best part is, I am a student of this guy. I have had him for about three and a half years. This man is great.
My clarinet won't play.

Me: Hmmm here I wonder why! 😑
2:39is legit me every time when ever I oil my slide lmao 😂
This video is absolutely hilarious! 😂 We especially like the trumpets “trying” to play high notes. Oh, and of course, the dropped trombone slide!
As an intern at the middle school level, I’ve seen every single one and then some 😂
This is fantastic!!!! Thank you!!!!

Pretty accurate to my class too!
“Do we have to play today? I just ran the mile.”

This was my class back in middle school, definitely showing this to my band teacher!
My teacher stopped us mid practice to show us this and was throwing major shade at one kid in the band lol. But our class had a good laugh! Thanks!
The last one happened at my sixth grade band concert. Lol

Only trumpets in the jazz band would need it that high.
