Hey guys! Love the videos on your 02 project. A few things to check on that may help, I noticed you switched from a red coil to a blue coil, if using a blue coil make sure you remove the resistor since the blue already has an internal one. It’s rewired differently when eliminating the resistor and may help with your running issues. Good luck fellas!

you have to use a tii distributor for dual webers it probably had it before

I couldn’t tell if the alternator was moving but Ireland engineering has poly bushings you could swap once and never do it again lol they work well easy enough to install.

I know this video is a older, but wondering where you're at in the pnw I also have a 74 2002 series, havin carb issues, but should figure it out soon. Seein if you're in the Portland area an we can work on/rip around in our classics

I have a 2002 and an 008 distributor. There were two OEM distributors that ended in 008. Yours is surely s vacuum advance like mine and the correct distributor.

Try turning the distributor a full 180° when cranking. On my car the vacuum advance is closer to the firewall.

Also, maybe a dumb question to ask but when you start it up it’s a rather long crank. Are you running an electric choke or manual? If manual make sure your choke is open and you pump the gas a few before cranking. Should start right up. As what old timers say, 95% of carb problems is in the ignition system.

Did you make sure the engine was at TDC when installing the new distributor? The distributor will have a tiny timing mark that is parallel with spark plug #1. When the edge of the rotor lines up with the timing mark on the distributor then everything is at TDC, then you can start messing with timing. If the lining of the rotor is way off TDC, then you can remove the distributor, and every time you install it back into the head the rotor will turn. Keep removing/reinstalling the distributor until the rotor has turned enough to line up with spark plug #1 which is where the TDC mark is.

That first start probably took a lot of cranking because the fuel line from the engine all the way to the tank was dry. I had the same problem after my car sat all winter. Good to see you got it running 👍

To know what the parts of the carby are, you might want to check a manual.

Use pertronix, I've had several condensers fails on these (left me stranded on the highway at 1 am, not funny at all) also check that you are getting 12v and consider getting rid of the resistor wire.

You really don't need that fuel return valve, one less issue to deal with.

Timing is badly off is what it sounds like. Happened once on my 320I
